Derby County should have been one of the biggest and most successful football clubs, not only in Britain but in Europe. They should have achieved the levels of triumph that Liverpool enjoyed for more than a quarter of a century. Oh yes, Derby should have been as big as Liverpool – possibly even bigger. And there is only one man to blame for the fact that they didn't reach such status: Brian Clough. To be strictly accurate, there are two culprits: me and Peter Taylor. When we walked out of the Baseball Ground in October 1973 it was the worst move of our lives. We were stupid, we were headstrong, we were stubborn and full of our own importance, but we were terribly, terribly wrong.
The day we resigned together was the day we turned our backs on the chance, if not the absolute guarantee, of turning a small-town club into a major power in European football. I honestly still believe that had Taylor and I not quit, we would have led Derby to the kind of unprecedented glory that set apart Liverpool from the rest from the 1960s onwards.

I have said it before and will continue to do so. The EFL have Peter Ridsdale on their board. The same Peter Ridsdale who was banned from being a director of any company from 2012-2020 for siphoning £350k into his personal bank account not a business account.

I think having Peter Ridsdale as a board member is perfectly acceptable.
This is a guy who knows full well what it means to chase the dream, and the pitfalls that can befall an owner. 
Real life experiences of the highs and lows of football club ownership is a valuable and rare commodity, I'm glad the EFL are taking advantage of such knowledge.

It’s going to work like this. Someone will eventually buy us for something. We will end up in league 1 with the EFL deducting us a further 15 points for something they pull out from a self created regulatory hat. 
In about 3 years someone somehow here will uncover the unholy stitch up and links between certain businessmen, the EFL and certain other league clubs
its a monstrous pile of garbage that has nothing to do with sportsmanship, proportional sanctions, fair play, mismanagement  or anything else. It’s naked self interest.

Little better than Gibson or Couhig. Took advantage of a situation and used a sob story to extort millions of unearned dosh out of a club on its knees.

Morris mismanaged the club to a degree rarely seen before in the history of this institution which is quite an achievement. He spent too much money too early, then when he wanted out he wanted to recoup as much as his investment as possible he couldn't find a buyer. You add in covid and his willingness to walk away never to be seen or heard from again and you've got Mel Morris. I think certain people got won over with his schtick especially with small group discussions or 1 on 1 which is easily done. I believe @David once mentioned Mel had given him a call to make sure he was okay, so I'm sure there's some residual loyalty and even affection there but I may be wrong and if so please correct me. Personally, I think leaving the club where he has is absolutely shameful as is his unwillingness to have actual communication since it all started going south. He was everywhere when we were doing well and now apparently he's ducked off to America which for me shows the character of the bloke. I hope he never steps foot in the city again. 

All said and done, it's gross negligence on the part of the former owner. 

The admins have taken far too long, I understand the issues but they must have outlined and understood these on day 2, if they're worth their salt. 
Feels like we are being asset stripped at the moment. The club valuation drops significantly without any players... 

So Mel thinks, as do many, that he’s the saviour in this? He’s the reason that this whole mess has happened. He left the club for dead,he doesn’t deserve the adoration he’s getting tonight. 

An honourable gesture from Mel. And despite my fury about the state he's left the club in, he's gone up in my estimations.
My hunch is that the parasites will not take him up on his offer & instead lobby their EFL puppet to set up the kangaroo court they so desperately crave. Gibson might put ego first & see Mel at the High Court but the other one certainly not. Irrespective of their position & in light of his statement, I fully expect Mel to sue the EFL & I wish him the best of luck dragging this repulsive organisation through the proper legal channels.
The only concern I have is with HMRC. If they see that the previous owner is willing to open himself up to personal liability, they may ask why would they settle for 25p in the pound rather than playing hardball for a much larger sum. After all a deal is never agreed with HMRC until the CVA is finalised.
This offer from Mel demands a formal response from the EFL puppets this weekend & then for Quantuma to show some urgency and name their preferred bidder in the next 7 days. We deserve prompt clarity & then closure of this mess.

They'll argue that the case is against DCFC, MM has left the club so has no dealings with DCFC, Now, The EFL have asked MM and other stakeholders to get in a room and sort this, So that's blown the EFLs arguement that it's against DCFC when asking MM to come to a meeting.
The EFL will save face if they tell Boro/WW to take MM on, Boro/WW have everything to lose and very very little to gain
