I'd just play Watkins.  Better all round player.  Kane reminds me of Van Nistlerooy.  He'll get goals but his all round play is dire and you need to facilitate him with the rest of your selection.

Derby have never been a similar size to West Ham. We're a similar size club to West Brom, Norwich and Coventry City. Not West Ham who are and always have been a top 10 sized club in this country.

Musk's SpaceX is what is known as a "New Space" company, completely disrupting and revolutionizing the industry, while Boeing is the epitome of "Old Space". Back in 2014 NASA made history with the award of its first Commercial Crew Contracts when, for the first time ever, private companies and not national space agencies would send astronauts into space, all the way to the International Space Station. They awarded $4.2bn to Boeing to build a spaceship called Starliner, and $2.6bn to an upstart company called SpaceX to build a spaceship called Dragon. Both were to take four astronauts at a time to the ISS. Boeing were seething. They said it was ridiculous for NASA to give money to SpaceX, and all of the pot should have gone to them.
Ten years on, Dragon is the first 21st-century spaceship, with touchscreens and ethernet, lots of space for its astronauts and a large cargo capacity to boot. Nowadays there are four Dragons in operation which, between them, have so far taken 50 astronauts into space, mostly to the Space Station. Ten years on the Boeing Starliner still hasn't flown anyone into space. It is much more like the 1960s Soyuz capsule, or what the Americans did with their early space programme, with rather cramped conditions and lots of knobs and levers. And the reason I am writing about it here, is in honour of our very own B4/Daniel - because it has a flange. And a flange that has gone wrong.
The latest attempt to try to fly test pilots aboard Starliner went wrong with this leak, and the date for it has gone back and back. And today it was announced the will try to fly it on June 1st, the very same day that SpaceX are attempting their next Starship test! It's an  amazing juxtaposition of old vs new space. Get your scraves and flanges out to celebrate!

Perhaps - but he's still a manager with four promotions in seven years as a manager. You could look at the relegations, of course, but context to those are that he had the smallest budget in the league by a significant margin and when handed a relatively competitive budget then he's shown he can get over the line.
I think there's a good number of chairmen who would take his record & his character and would like to work with him.

Shame for Plymouth. In an ideal world Ten Hag is sacked and they appoint Rooney and he relegates them, nothing against agent Wayne btw. Relegating Birmingham city is some achievement which was great,  but manure  would be truly orgasmic

I’ve never been a fan of the play-offs but they do add some excitement to the end of the season.  I’d prefer a variation on the original format.  Using the PL and Championship as examples, 3rd and 4th bottom play each other over 2 legs, winner stays up.  3rd and 4th place in the Championship do the same.  The loser of the 2 PL teams and the winner of the 2 Championship teams then play each other in the final, winner is in the PL.

I think you’re right in your first statements but the lack of long term planning and investment rather depends on having the cash. Which as a nation we don’t have anymore. This has little to do with the current crop of property people but much more to do with the fact that we don’t have industry that exports thus binging real money in to the economy. How we resolve that in the face of competition from outside the old western sphere, who don’t have our welfare systems tolerance or “kindness” I don’t know.

generally all busy towns/cities that are diverse and multi-cultural are dumps.

It’s a universal problem. Every town and city I have visited in the last 20 years has similar issues. Over crowding, visible evidence of drug taking, waste management, the decline of retail choice and vibrancy caused by the internet age. Ludicrous parking regulations and costs. The loss of skilled jobs following de industrialisation. I suspect it’s similar in many European towns. All were once fuelled by the Wests old industrial prosperity that is no longer there. It’s a world change not a party political thing. Owners of vape shops and takeaways that drive bling filled 4x4’s from their “enterprises”
The good bits being our lovely parks and gardens, DCFC and Potts on Babington lane. My adopted home has been good to me but I escaped to Belper last year where the biggest problem seems to be dead sheep seen in the weir and the woes surrounding the mill building.

Firstly, this thread really shouldn’t be on the Derby County page. Can we move it please?
Secondly, they surveyed just short of 4,000 people. Not a bad sample size but how many of those actually stayed in Derby and also stayed in a number of the other towns and cities in order to contrast and compare? I’ve been to Bruges and might score it something like 8 out of 10. Someone else might have been to Vienna (I’ve never been to Vienna and they’ve never been to Bruges) and score it 9 out of 10. That doesn’t automatically mean Vienna is nicer than Bruges. Even asking the local residents is a bit of a waste of time. I think Tamworth town centre is a bit of a dump (not that I go in very often) which it is apart from the castle but I can’t say it’s worse than anywhere else - it’s the only town I’ve lived in for the past 30 odd years.
Finally, there doesn’t seem to be any scale for the ranking (as far as I can see). Maybe the margins are very narrow and therefore the rankings are misleading.

Not hard to spot the Which? members, is it?😉
Seriously, there's some major pearl-clutching going on with some people. I couldn't argue that the city centre hasn't been badly neglected in recent years (thank you, Austerity George) or that the City Council of whatever hue are responsible for some awful planning decisions since WW2, but to describe the place as "feral" is utter hyperbole.
I still go out in the city centre at night both with mates and with the missus and the 'threat' is marginal compared to central London at midnight or somewhere like Canning Town any time of day.

Successive city councils have been guilty of gross incompetence for decades. Essentially, as a city it's become a good place.....to leave.
