Daft that VAR deliberately look for possible offsides in the run up to goals (and will go back 5 out 6 passes) yet that doesn’t apply if a defender is involved. If Lukaku hadn’t been offside in the first place he wouldn’t have been in position to pick up the loose ball….. offside should have been flagged as soon as the cross came in…..

Were we not told the current negotiations were subject to NDA and that no details would be released as a consequence? I mean it's been like 20 days since the American deal was mooted. How quickly are you expecting the due diligence we've all screamed for after the Alonso fiasco to take, not to mention the small matter of contracts being drafted, proof of funds, set up of escrow, EFL approval and other similar 'small matters'.
And Nixon has released an update since his initial Tweet, by the way, which clearly stated that Cook is currently working though the required processes.

20 days is a bloody long time to the people who sit on Twitter all day every day refreshing their screen.

It was worrying when Southgate was asked about originally picking 4 right-backs - he replied that they were amongst the best 26 English qualified players available to him. I've hated this attitude in previous England Managers - winning tournaments means having the best team with the correct blend, not the best players squeezed into any position just because they're the "best" players - think back to the number of times both Gerrard and Lampard were both selected when it was obvious that they got in each others way.
It's a cowardly attitude that has more to do with pandering to the big clubs and the journos (who will attack the manager if he doesn't select one of their current darlings) rather than trying to give ourselves the very best chance of winning games...
I was originally pretty hopeful of our chances (can potentially cause any team problems but have an iffy defence) but taking unfit players is crazy. In addition, Southgate has completely wasted the last two friendlies by chucking in players that he knew wouldn't be in the squad (have a free cap as compensation for missing out) and by tinkering with the formation so that players are constantly having to adjust to new/changed positions. Really can't see us getting out of the group stages...

The governement have consistently stated that the decision will be reviewed on 14th June - and the media have consistently wound up the public with rumours and suggestions - they really are pathetic.....

If they're stirring things up when there's been no official announcement, then yes it is (and the part you quoted is not 'official' but a leak or gossip or poo stirring) - they're in an escalating competition for clicks on their news stories and don't give a monkey's about the accuracy of their 'stories' or the impact it's having on the general public.....
