Played really well in fairness.

We could do, they did well. The appointment of Bielsa aside though, from what we know it doesn't appear half as radical or interesting for a big club with money to do that, compared with Brentford's methods to become a powerful club in our league.

So only promotion is achievement? Don't get that reasoning. It's contradictory to praise our youth strategy at this point then, only valid if we get promoted or win a trophy?
Finances don't excite me but as a measure of building a club's resources it's positive. Together with playing good effective football not an achievement?
We've longed for such signs of development.
So much to be impressed by for me.
Still, appreciate the debate it's interesting how other's see it.

Yes, I'm one of those fans who has become somewhat beguiled by Brentford. Looking at this article from 3 years ago, you have to admire their radical and clear vision. At the time I recall scoffing at the reported reliance on stats and the decision to let Mark Warburton go. It seemed like madness. Well, looking at it now it was and is a great business model. It was way ahead of other clubs and their ability to implement the plan has been remarkable.
At the time, Derby had more resources and a shorter term strategy,so many of the elements of this model would not have suited us at the time. In contrast our academy may actually keep us competitive for a while.
However, necessity is the mother of invention and so Covid-19 May force many more clubs to copy this model. This may make it tougher for them and others to recruit in their usual markets.
Recent noises from Derby indicated a more coherent plan even before lockdown . Lets hope so. It is inspiring to read how creative Brentford have been and the reasoning behind their strategy.

I think Brentford will put three past Fulham.
Their attack is far superior to Fulham’s defence.
I quite like Thomas Frank. Always speaks well about the game and seems respectful of other managers.
There is no doubt his players play for him.
Brentford is my second favourite Championship club.

I moved to Oxford at a time when Robert Maxwell was Chairman of my company as well as my football team! And also of Oxford United! Their players were always hanging round the office and we had free tickets most weeks, so I developed a soft spot for them. Very pleased they made it through to Web-ber-ley. Hope we join them!

I kind of do feel for the "underside" of Oxford - the ordinary folks who support their local team but have to live in a town made into a hellhole by posh students who live lives of zero consequence. There's a lot of Oxford that's very ordinary and that's who Oxford town are for. That, and George Thorne ?

I hadn't realised that they hadn't been taking my money until I received notification a couple of days ago saying that they had now done so. An excellent gesture by the club at a time when they need all the money they can get even more so than normal.
I subscribed to DAZN, only because some of the games Sky pick are shown on there and so aren't available to me on RamsTV. They are a sports channel showing a wide range of live and retransmitted sports. They didn't hesitate in taking my money even though they hadn't any new sports to show. I suppose they could argue that the retransmitted stuff was still available, but I wouldn't have thought that they would have had anywhere as near as much interest.
Thanks yet again to the club for being so fan orientated.

If you're a normal monthly paying overseas subscriber you'll be able to watch as normal. I believe payments were halted during the season pause and is now back on.

Manu and Liverpool is a tough start. A draw against Leicester isn't the end of the world either. Chelsea have Norwich and Sheff Utd next to steady the ship with 6 straight forward points. Then Wolves and Liverpool will properly show where they are.
I personally hope Frank does well.

I hope frank does well at chelsea. Done wonders for us. Without him rising our profile would cocu had come? We're in a far better position going forward than this time last year.
Plus nice to see an englishman managing a top club

I want Frank to do well at Chelsea. Want Mount and Tomori to do well too. Hope they sort it out and do well there.

Bit surprised by some of the posts on here - yeah, the protracted nature of Lampard's move to Chelsea was a bit irritating but ultimately few could have begrudged him the move & we've arguably upgraded since.
I wish Frank all the very best at Chelsea so take no pleasure from seeing his first competitive match end like that. It was great to see Mount & Tomori (two lads who did so much to try and get us up last year) in the matchday squad & Mount to start the match. I actually thought Chelsea were much the better team in the first 30 mins & had they gone ahead, the game could have been very different. Instead a sloppy error means they have to chase the match & against 2 strikers as quick as Rashford & Martial, that ain't a great place to be.

Yeah, not going to lie I have some days which are harder than others, but it’s going to wear you down but that’s natural, especially when it involves your digestive system and how you fuel your body.
Keep the brain active and busy, helps a ton. Start Uni next month which will be interesting, add a new string to my bow, signed up with the year initially with an eye on staying longer to complete a degree.
See how the puns go down to pad out assignments!
