europia got a reaction from GB SPORTS in Derbys a s**t hole I want to go home
Successive city councils have been guilty of gross incompetence for decades. Essentially, as a city it's become a good place.....to leave.

Ipswich Towns success is a good story, and sometimes things just fall into place, like when Leicester won the Premier League. Derby's immediate future is about re establishing as a Ch'ship club. So keeping out of the drop zone is the primary objective next season, and mid table the following season. Beyond that, maybe the club will push on if significant investment comes into the club. It should be fresh in everyones minds that the club has been selling some of the young talent to balance the books.

europia reacted to Van der MoodHoover in Punching above our weight. What do you think would elevate us above mid table next season?
But it's just a sunk cost in terms of loan fees and wage contributions.
We're not building anything and a few extra places in the championship table doesn't mean a lot in terms of prize money does it?

Warney has proven to be a very good coach in L1. Hopefully he can get DCFC to finish in a respectable position in the Ch'ship. However to do so, a lot of things need to fall into place. No doubt about it, recruitment will determine our fate next season.

Don't think that's ever happened. We've had the odd player.....eg Robbie Savage with his ankle taps.....but a whole team of hard nuts? Not in my lifetime.....

Agree about the move from London. After the hustle and bustle, and the bright lights of London, his first wander into our city centre would be one hell of a blow! It's a dump, especially the Victoria Street area! No wonder he seemed to lose his way!

When we had Clough he had us fit, with loads of good footballers, played nice football but were dog defensively and couldn’t defend a set piece for s****.
Warne will have us fit, loads of battlers, set us up we’ll, battle hard and be god from set-pieces at both ends.
I feel as though he’ll end up setting up the next manager for success, as Clough did.

We have a bad habit of selling players on the cheap. Just over a million for Bird is pittance.

Has this become a finance thread rather than a Warne thread?
I would definitely have fired Warne earlier in the season. And said so at the time. Obviously he is Clowes's man and the recent statement from Clowes makes clear they are going forward together long term. DC sees much more of what happens around the club than me. From a far distance as a fan, I would still have considered replacing Warne now, with a proven Championship manager like Cooper or an exciting up-and-coming coach like Skubala, so they would be the ones directing the spending over the summer. But it's very clear that's not going to happen.
What Warne has done well is the even keel, the acceptance that you win and lose games, but instilling in the team the understanding of the consistency and desire and togetherness that is required for a promotion campaign. We had the best defence in the league and the best goal difference. Hopefully we can build on that, but good midfielders and then forwards (the players we need) are expensive. We have to find value in the transfer market - the Adams signing is perhaps a glimmer of hope that recruitment is improving, even if one swallow doesn't make a summer - see CBT.
What I hope and expect Clowes is doing is preparing the succession plan, a bit like how clubs such as Brighton always have someone to step in when their manager is poached. Whether Warne is eventually poached (hopefully as it would mean we're doing well) or sacked, then Clowes needs to already have ten coaches in mind he thinks he could persuade to come, and who would take us to the next level. Maybe Cooper and Skubala would be on that list.

Tbf, I don't think Rooney rated him.
Some of us knew different. Plymouth would have been relegated ages ago if it wasn't for him. If he isn't scoring goals he's making them.

Based on what I have seen this season I would look to try and move on Washington, Fornah and Bradley even though they have contracts. Fornah might get better, perhaps loan him out, but the other two have been on a downhill trajectory for a couple of years. Good character is not enough in the Champ. I would look to retain Collins though. One season. Still giving his all, keeps himself in good condition, chips in with important goals. A good back up but hopefully not even second choice No. 9 next season. God I hope we don’t go big for Michael Smith from Wednesday.

It will be an interesting few weeks. Every single member of the squad has had an impact; had a match that was their moment (usually followed by long term injury). A number are too old or not quite good enough and so we can’t afford to be too sentimental whilst at the same time we need to ensure the culture at the club remains.
We will need a squad and there are players there that would be more than useful in making that squad up, allowing us then to add quality where it is desperately needed - up front and in midfield. I think we probably all have our favourites who we would like to see stick around. Anyone who leaves though goes with best wishes and a thank you. Once a Ram…

Wildsmith told us at the Supporters' do that he hadn't been offered a contract, yet Radio Derby keep saying that he's turned the offer down.
One isn't telling the truth because both can't be right.

europia reacted to De22Ram in Now we're promoted, what are your thoughts on League One ?
Its been said already! But proper football fans sum up league 1 for me!
Orient fans singing, "national league champions youll never sing that" followed by "league 2 champions, youll never sing that" was a moment ill remember!
Love watching Derby and England but over the last few years the amount of money in football is really getting to me! Price of tickets, kits etc etc! Ill spare you the rant as you all know exactly what i mean!
The games in danger of imploding and clubs in the lower and non leagues are getting screwed more and more! Its sad!!

If it happens I reckon it'll be a UK based businessman with a track record of decency and solid business practice. Morgan for instance rather than an Ashley.
