Millenniumram got a reaction from Rammy03 in Martyn Waghorn To Return (He isn't)
Can definitely understand some of the negative reaction to this. Despite Waghorn doing a very good job for us when he first arrived (I thought he was the best striker in the league form wise at the end of 18/19), his performances deteriorated badly as time went on, particularly when Rooney took over. In his final season he was absolutely woeful, barring that very final game. Things don’t seem to have improved at Coventry either. For that reason, you do have to be concerned whether he’s got anything left to offer particularly at his age. A striker struggling to score goals is going to be an issue, even dropping down a level to League One.
However, let’s not overreact if he does indeed sign (which is looking unlikely anyway). He’d only be joining to act as third choice striker behind McGoldrick and Collins, as an alternative to Joseph. Barring a bad run of injuries, you’d hope we wouldn’t be relying on him much. He’d offer another versatile option across the frontline and, crucially, we’d probably be able to bring him in permanently. We’ve only got 3 loans left but need 5 players in imo, so we’re going to need to find a couple of players which clubs will let us have for free. There’s not many around, so Waghorn is a good option in that regard. I wouldn’t be totally against it.

Millenniumram got a reaction from chadlad in Matchday Thread - Derby County v Barnsley (13/08 15:00)
I still think Roberts best position is at CB as things stand, he’s still got a tendency to drift into his more natural central position when defending at full back. That’s to be expected though - Rosenior clearly wants to convert him to a LB (possibly Brighton do as well hence why the move was agreed), so hopefully he should get more used to it over time. He’s certainly got the ability on the ball to play out there, and his lack of height is less of an issue out wide as well, compared to at CB. My only real concern is a bit of a lack of pace, but let’s be fair, Forsyth doesn’t exactly have much either these days, so it might not be an issue.
Don’t want him on the right side though. There’s the odd exception out there, but in my time watching football, I’ve very rarely known a defender switch sides successfully. A left footer should stay on the left in my view, I think he’d be very uncomfortable at RB. Granted, we’re currently playing Knight there, which is huge wasteful. We really need a senior RB ASAP.

I really hope that you’re right, and the David Clowes era is far better than the Mel Morris one - hopefully we will become a well run, successful football club, rather than the ego plaything of a banker who left us on the verge of financial ruin.
It’s very early days yet though, so I’m hesitant to get over-excited at this stage - I mean, this is Derby County we’re talking about, we don’t get nice things. There’s still a hell of a lot of work to be done, both on and off the pitch, before we’ve fully recovered. I suspect sorting out Mels mess will take a couple of tough years, but hopefully we are seeing the dawn at the end of the darkest night now.
We’re still in League One let’s not forget, which is not where this great club belongs. It’s going to take hard work from everyone to get us back up out of here, but at the very least, we do still have a Derby County. That’s the biggest thing here.

Ah yes, now you mention it I think he did - Ruben isn’t it? Waghorn clearly still has ties here, and it seems to me like he feels at “home” here. Can certainly see him coming back for sentimental reasons.

Didn't his son sign for the academy just before he left for Coventry?

Told you all I was ITK ?
He was sat outside waiting for his missus. Much like he’ll be sat on the bench here.

I believe Waggy's brother lives in Derbyshire - Duffield? Waghorn was certainly at the Duffield Carnival in July along with Forsyth, Keogh and Johnson

FWIW, and it’s not worth a lot, I saw Waghorn down my local supermarket the other day.
I presumed he never moved house when he went to Coventry (he did used to live near me), but I hadn’t seen him in quite a long time. So maybe there is something in a possible return for him? I’m claiming ITK if he does, just saying.

There's something going on at our club that gives me the Arthur Cox, Jim Smith vibe.
I can't put my finger on it, but something instinctive in me tells me we're entering a new exciting chapter.
The planets seem to be aligning.
Something in my water ( and hopefully it's not cystitis) tells me we're at the beginning of something big, and I've not felt this way for many a year.
I feel something brewing. Don't ask me how, I just feel it....
I think we're at the outset of a huge uplift for our club.
Remember where you heard it first... ?

And if you think Derby provide disappointment.......
