Seems like many on this thread are already preparing to go into meltdown at the prospect of losing a pre-season friendly.

This must be a good sign that things are going to work out the next few weeks.
This and Salford are clearly Rooney fixtures so this is a sign at least that he will be sticking around.
Just need to go get some players to play now.

I'm thinking we have gone with 2 home games so we can get more revenue than we normally would preseason. The fact no fans have been able to attend for well over a year I reckon they anticipate the full allocation allowed would be taken up, which is probably more than what would normally attend a preseason home game anyway

I think they might have to offer that to some if the capacity is still much reduced.
My take is that the reluctance to sell anything is because they've got about 11,500 of us already paid up and hopeful of getting to every home game. Even that might not be quite possible if capacity can't increase so they might offer that option and see who takes it up (quite a few of the more vulnerable, imo.)

Even if it adds nothing to the P&S column to please the EFL, think of all the hospitality staff at the club who haven’t been able to work for over a year now, the suppliers, events team, ticket staff.
Which ever account this money goes into, with little to no revenue for over a year, would be a great way to put a few quid back in to the club whilst also being able to step back in Pride Park.
Never intended to suggest that buying a table would allow Rooney to buy a striker.

I understand a lot of fans frustration with this one....  However, there's a very real chance we don't have a club at all (as we know it) the rate things are going.  I get that everybody has their own set of financial circumstances and circa £350 can be a huge amount of money.  I've been buying some daft Rampage magazine that I don't even read in a bid to support the club... Rams TV matches when I have a sky subsrciption.  If we can afford to should some of us write monies owed off (we all expect Mel Morris to write off all he's owed then in the same breath demand our season ticket money back!).
I have a colleague who is a Morcambe fan, he bought a lifetime season ticket a few years back to help them out of a pickle (£2000) wanna know what he did this year? Bought a years season ticket just to help them out!

I know probable very little chance of getting him back. But I for one I would try and get him back very hard working player and knew were net was and could work well with Richard's or with Marriott if he stays at Derby. If we could find a way make a deal for him I would welcome him back with open arms.

Indulge me on this post - this just came on the radio & sums being a Derby fan up for me!
It’s called Fool again by Westlife.
    this is the chorus:
    Can't believe that I'm a fool again
I thought this love would never end
    How was I to know?
    You never told me
    Can't believe that I'm a fool again
And I who thought you were my friend
    How was I to know?
    You never told me
(if you’re feeling really melancholy you could substitute love with club!)
i just don’t have any words to contribute to this debate other than Mel will not want the club’s demise to be his legacy & you can’t believe what some papers print.

I am clinging on to that hope

I’m no Mel apologist, I think the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Or atleast from summer through to Cocu’s departure.
But...I don’t know whether this article quite passes a good journalism test and I’m highly sceptical where they get their information from. You have to consider that someone wants that information out there. This isn’t ‘Derby is in a mess, and we’ve seen the figures to back this up’ it comes across a second hand info. It’s more speculative than investigative.
The club is in a dreadful state, and what’s actually been going on is slowly coming to light, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna lap up every article out there that agrees with that viewpoint without question

I have two reasons for going to watch Derby, firstly im a Derby fan but secondly its the time i get to spend with my Dad, hes been making noises about not renewing anyway, he doesnt like whats involved with getting away as its so busy, so its crossed my mind that ill take him to some non league games just to spend that time and have a beer after like we used to. I guess id do that if the club folded, i cant imagine just switching to another club, i guess that might build up over time
I think you are right there would be a Derby County of some description, no doubt would be a wild ride watching them from non league, i am quite envious of clubs like afc wimbledon, when they got in to the league it must have been such a fantastic moment for their fans.

It wouldn't surprise me if we'd done some kind of gardening-leave type thing, so instead of paying him a lump sum in compensation, we're still paying some fraction of his wages until he gets another job.  So maybe if he doesn't get another job for the next 4 years, we might in theory end up paying him £8m, which fits with Morris quote's about it being a worst case scenario.
Likewise, the £20m HMRC bill is presumably deferred PAYE/NIC etc, so it will have to be paid, but they're not going to be demanding it all tomorrow. Many clubs, and many other businesses in general, will have used this scheme, and if HMRC start demanding massive payments upfront, they're just going to cause mass bankruptcies, so they will probably take a sensible approach.
The Dell loan also presumably has a payment schedule attached. They won't be demanding £15m tomorrow.
The entire article seems to be taking the worst case scenarios, and the total payable over many years, and assuming we owe it all tomorrow.

I argued we should have kept Cocu party because of the cost of sacking him and it appears it was 8 Million !
This sack sack sack of managers has not helped us.
