10 point lead over 7th place with a far superior goal difference - not that it matters since we're firmly in the mix for automatic.

    Good 3 points
3 good goals ( Exeter keeper may have helped a tad)
We all said Bird and Hourahan needed help and now they have it in Adams

Bird adding the goal contributions that would triple his value, the month after we sell him

It’s great where we are sitting in the league and PW will be around for a while regardless of results imo.
Do I enjoy watching this style of football…absolutely not but I still hope we get promoted and then I’m pretty sure we would have to change our management and football style to have a chance of staying up in the championship.
Im not anti PW , I just don’t like the football his team is playing.
I do not find it entertaining except for a few matches where the style seemed to change and we looked fluid in attack and really clicked.
I also think this football style has contributed to the reason Jason Knight and Max Bird wanting out of the club to play football more suited to their qualities.
So fingers crossed for a win tonight and keep the pressure on the top teams and let’s hope we can get promoted this season out of this league and get back to playing real football again .

Having seen Derby play against a warne Rotherham enough times and the added extras of his side on TV I know I didn’t want to watch his kind of football and unfortunately he is very consistent in how he approaches his kind of football which doesn’t come close to what I want to watch - let’s be clear I hope we get promotion this season and I also hope he moves on elsewhere when the season ends and we can approach football in a more appealing way.

Unfortunately you have nailed it - Are we any better than last year - er No - have we gained any better players? Hmm not really Have we lost any better players ? Well yes in my opinion McGoldrick and Knight - have we been served with a feast of entertainment at home to the paying home fans? - Absolutely not in my humble opinion

This train of thought that we are struggling to play good football because League One football is poor and the opposition drag us down to their level is just a complete cop out for poor coaching.
Do you think if Leicester were in League One they’d suddenly struggle to play football too? Or do you think they would just play how they are in the Championship and batter everyone 5-0?
You can’t use the opposition as an excuse for playing crap football. That is on our manager and coaches.

The thing is, PW knew how Shrewsbury would play, he talked about it pre match and yet he still got the tactics wrong. The lack of nous is soul destroying at times, it really is. We barely won any second balls, kept playing head tennis and the number of risky passes at the back was terrifying. We were playing a team in the bottom six who have been beaten by every one of our promotion rivals this season and yet they have taken 4 points out of 6 off us. Why does this stuff keep happening?

What really narked me about the post match interview again is the old having to worry about the opposition. Does he realise it was derby county vs Shrewsbury and not Rotherham b vs shrews. We are second in the brimming league shouldn’t it be the opposition that worry about us. Stop making us mentally into an under dog team and start taking the game to the opposition

Worth noting that Stevenage lost thanks to an own goal from a new signing in January and Peterborough had a new signing sent off which induced losing a lead and the game vs Exeter - as we know new signings do not necessarily improve your results

Spend the last 3 weeks in a panic because we don't have a right back, then as soon as we actually have one, switch to a formation that doesn't use one... #JustPaulWarneThings

Sparkle reacted to Ghost of Clough in Has DC lost faith in the recruitment process?
The process used for this season will need to be overhaulled. 12 summer signings and a further 2 in January, of which only 3 are likely to be regular starters is absolutely shocking (Nelson, Nyambe, Blackett-Taylor). This is also after the squad failed to place top last season, losing 3 of our first 11 (Roberts, Knight and McGoldrick) and not even having a right back in the entire squad.
It's summarised by having no long term vision. That's in terms of: a) bringing in younger players who will either maintain their current standards for longer, or have room for improvement; or b) planning how the players will fit into the team.
Warne put a clear focus on older and more experience players, based on the rationale of higher wages equates to better players. If more budget is put towards the wages, we'll end up with a stronger squad of players.
Warne also had no plan on how to fit the players into the team. This is demonstrated by early summer recruitment being with 3421 in mind, which quickly changed to 352, and then alternating between 442 and 4231 during the season so far. We signed a LB (Elder) to play as a wing back, but also signed Nyambe (RB) after already signing 2 wing backs. He also signed a slow CB who cannot play in a high line and is uncomfortable on the ball under pressure. We've basically got through from October with only 1 fully fit forward whowas 2nd choice last season and failed to improve on in the summer AND January.
The style of play our CF targets prefer also varied. Summer targets like Harris, Rhodes and Sharp all have different strengths and weaknesses. Similar with January targets such as Smith, Gregory, Mubama, Ennis. It's just a scattergun approach all round. Most of these targets compromise on the high intensity press Warne wants to implement too.

Having 5,000 less season tickets sold won’t be in the budget either and I bet there will be that many questioning a purchase based on the absolute rubbish served up at home this season
