The reality is that having been man of the match against the Blades, the “Derby way” will be to bench him and give him the final 10 minutes to rescue a point on Saturday, in a match where we don’t have anyone prepared to run at the opposition.
I sincerely hope I am wrong and Sibbo plays the no. 10 role from the start.

Oh it's not that. Got no doubts about that mate.
It's just if Lawrence is fit. Seeing as Rooney has made him captain, means he will probably play.
And knowing Rooney. He'll drop Sibley in a heartbeat.
Fwiw we've played better in the last 2 games without Lawrence than we did in the first 2 with him. So I wouldn't start him at all.
    Rooney will though.

After that, I only have one issue - why would you travel all that way to come and watch that? And yet it looked like Middlesboruogh had sold out their allocation. Just why?  Unless it is to get out of Middlesborough for a day.
I didn't realise that Colin has two faces, but he let them both show today when he was bellowing for Jagielka to be given a red card. After all the tricks he has got up to in his career, and all the tricks he has taught his players to put into practice, how could he? Unless having seen the ref give a free-kick when one of his own players tripped a team-mate up and got the free-kick he thought he could get anything he wanted out of the match officials.
I had quite a a numerously endowed amount of pre-match "refreshments, and went into the ground not worried about the result. Actually that's how I woke up, and like most fans, all i wanted was for the players to turn up and have a go. Whether or not the EFL, in all their machinations, have fostered an 2us against the world" mentality or not, the whole squad seem united together and simply won't lie down. As Wayne and many on here have said, we would have lost that match only a short time ago. Apart from Roos saving our bacon a few times, and them hitting the bar, apart from the last 20 minutes they weren't any bother at all. There was only one team playing football.
One thing I am glad about is that we haven't resorted to trying not to lose, and to faffing about at the back all match. Wherever we could we were on the front foot, and there was even less passing defender to defender than against Hull. Well done Wayne for finding the key to unlocking the team's ability. A major plus is seeing Bird playing where he should be playing, and playing how he should be playing. And above all, we have shown that we can compete against thug football, which we had no idea of how to cope with only a few months ago!
OH. And more baffling thing: why wouldn't Middlesborough allow the ref to have his squad number on the back of his shirt like all the other Boro players?

Just finished watching the game back.
Need to start with the obvious, I don't think I can remember seeing a case of such blatant cheating and a referee so willing to let it go on their side. The whole second half we got penned in purely because Boro were allowed to get away with a stupid amount of niggly fouls when we tried to break or dives when we won the ball back cleanly. Not to mention the whole thing around Warnock calling for a red against Jagielka for what was frankly the Boro playing arriving late and then their striker clearly blatantly elbowing Jagielka. Yes they mounted pressure but it was purely down to the referee putting his thumb on the scale of the game and letting such blatant poohousing go. Honestly getting out of the game without an injury is a blessing and getting a point shows that at least the team that started today can stand up to any physical challenge legitimate or not.
Trying to talk about the game from a tactical stand point or from any remotely analytical view feels pointless but I think there were a couple of things that are worth noting. I'm glad that we kept trying to keep the ball and play football, first half in particular we had some really good spells and created some decent openings. It's encouraging  to see that even against a team so entrenched we can find ways of creating space. I will make a special given that I've heavily criticised him off late; Shinnie was much improved, his movement off the ball and his tactical awareness were much improved. Tactically he's looking much more comfortable than he was. Following from that on a general note the midfield looks like it's starting to gel; Bird, Morrison and Shinnie looks like they are really beginning to develop an understanding and are really starting to fluidly interchange. Then throw in Jozwiak and Sibley sitting in dangerous areas ready to either link play, provide a runner or ready to drive at the back line and it's looking promising. The one thing I'd say which feels harsh is that we worked the ball well to create space and time for somebody in midfield and it would often fall to Shinnie in that space a little too much and he couldn't make the most of it, if that had been say Bielik we probably tear them open. (I mean we likely would have anyway if we had an even handed ref).
