If he was desperate to be a PL manager he’d have took the Stoke job while they were in the PL.
Football was not great but think there was definitely some weirdness with Mel telling him to cut the budget before giving Lampard £15m to piss up the wall. He also created a £10m asset out of Vydra who no one else had fancied previously.

I guess a budget that the owner feels is good enough to make specific reference to in a pre season interview.
If you asked me for specific numbers I would probably say it is top 3-5 in the division, at a guess. And I dare say higher than that.

It depends whether there is truly the belief anything will be different in Feb. If you hold off and we’re still inconsistent it gives someone else barely any time to sort it out. It’s also another window where you might have backed the wrong horse, perhaps expensively given it’s January. I have not seen much evidence arising out of the summer window to leave me confident more transfer windows is what the manager needs. Maybe 3-4 hits out of 12? 
I don’t think people who run football clubs well are worried what fans of other clubs might think. And if I had to guess I doubt many fans of other clubs would look at Derby at the moment and think they were being managed well or making great use of the presumably very healthy resources they have at this level. 

Is 'chums' the correct word to use here?
An alternative suggestion could be...the players that have formed the backbone of his team, that have reached a quarter final, semi final and final in the 3 major tournaments he has managed in....
FWIW I dont think Henderson should be getting much game time because of the level he is playing/training at. Maguire has been a defensive rock for England.

It’s strange - the seemingly accepted very short term approach Warne seems to take (not a criticism or praise, particularly) is completely at odds with almost every message that comes from the owner where it is all about sustainability, not panicking if we don’t get promoted.
I think anyone sensible would have no problem with a long term outlook on things if the stuff happening on the pitch actually suggested that was the plan. But we have largely targeted ready made players (not necessarily old), academy players do not get any minutes that matter, and we’re taking a pretty big risk on the value of any players we could sell who’s contracts are up soon.
Not to mention hiring a manager who’s experience to date suggested quick success at this level and finding our way back here immediately anyway.

1966 World Cup red shirt, white shorts, red socks, it is a lovely memory to have witnessed England winning the World Cup.
Almost all countries play there home matches in the colours of there flag, one who does not is Italy, who are the only one i can think of. The fans always turn up to games with red and white flags, hats etc, for myself the team should be in our flag colours at home.
Thank you for finding the date of 2018, wonder if it is woke related, or just money by the greedy FA, via shirt sales.

I have some very sad news this evening.  Daniel (B4) died earlier this week. He was just 38.
As you know, he has been battling numerous health conditions for a long time, but always remained cheerful  and was the most loyal supporter of his beloved Rams, home and away.
He was at the match at Crewe and gave his full support as always. 
Daniel leaves behind a grieving dad, mum and sister. Our thoughts go out to them and we only hope they get a little comfort from knowing how well loved Daniel is by all who know him. 
Here are a couple of photos that his dad agreed could be shared. I'm sure many of you have others, as Daniel loved a selfie at the game.
David is hoping to arrange a more fitting tribute in time, but for now please raise a glass in his memory and a good Derby win today. I am sure that's what Daniel would have been doing tonight.

Villa’s academy recruitment team will know about every child aged between 7 and 18 at every academy in the world. Let alone ones who play in the same country as them, who compete against them, and who represent their national team.
They’re obviously not interested in signing players from us because our captain, who coaches their U8’s or something, is telling them to.

EFL need to take a long look in the mirror (again) for continuing to let this lot sign players window after window while this nonsense has been going on.
Hope things work out for them but they survived ahead of us while this was going on. Lucky for them and the EFL, I don’t think Derby will be looking for any sort of legal action.

This is a Matt Slater comment on a recent Athletic article he wrote after being a guest of Pearce’s at the Exeter game. 
Believe finances around football are very much his matter of expertise. I suspect we are not sustainable in the true sense of the word I.e profit making, but losses will be sensible as far as that can be the case.
Realistically I think in most cases only player trading can make a club profitable. So I do hope we make progress on creating some saleable assets in the squad but understand why we’ve not been able to do much of that as yet.
