Happy clappers may not be the right term because it’s naturally divisive but there was, rightly or wrongly, a significant number of posts on our good run sneering at any one who dared to question the manager or want him gone during the highs of defeats to Shrewsbury and Stevenage, as if good results masking at times sub par performances does anything to convince people who have long term doubts about the manager.
Performances being less than convincing even during good runs is a large part of why he has been questioned, certainly by me anyway.
In most games we get by because we have better players than the other team. I don’t see a huge amount of the effects of good coaching, I don’t see many tactical tweaks that gain us an edge. We look like a team who have a bigger budget than the majority of teams at this level, and not much else. I think our manager’s level is about where we are now, which worries me.
But alas he is here to stay.

We cannot possibly expect our rag tag bunch of players thrown together on a shoestring budget to compete with sides like Reading

Wouldn’t mind it on a loan until the end of the season to help us over the line. Anything longer than that and I’d have some concerns.

Another club who rolled the dice and got promoted, though. Much easier to care about FFP or P&S when you’re anticipating staying in the division the rules apply in.

Probably needs to sack his agent for letting him sign for Reading in the first instance.

Don’t disagree overall (and don’t think we will sign him) but sure I read last night he has a clause that means his wage goes up after 15 appearances hence not playing.
Probably needs to sack his agent for negotiating that into a contract with Reading.

I think it depends if his underlying point is that incompetent people shouldn’t be pundits, or women shouldn’t be pundits.
Obviously there’s no issue with the first one, but it seems to be more the latter or at least that’s the way he’s gone with it. There’s bad female pundits but some really good ones, same with male. Is it “box ticking” if a female pundit is chosen to be on TV and they turn out to be really good at it?

Wonder what Moral High Ground FC will have to say on this

nottingram got a reaction from Blondest Goat in Max Bird
I thought similar the other day during the Peterborough game. Their entire midfield 3 cost probably roughly what we’d want for Bird. Usual caveats obviously, only one game, different roles in teams etc but all 3 were excellent.
Selling Bird doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Historically we are poor buyers though so would depend what we did after.
Not a criticism of Bird really, he’s a very good footballer - for example I think if you put him in the Peterborough midfield with the way they play he’d look great. But rightly or wrongly we don’t play like that and I think if Paul Warne was building his ideal prototype midfielder it wouldn’t be anything like Max Bird.

I hope your expensive lawyer can come up with a better excuse than “we don’t know how calendars work”
