I read an Athletic article that said Marinakis was aiming for top 6 but his expectations had to be tempered by others at the club. Wouldn’t recommend reading it though, it was a Daniel Taylor article so took me forever to wade past the misty eyed b******* about history and about how Jesse Lingard is ‘only’ on £110k a week plus bonuses and how great it is that Marinakis is letting his son (who has never worked in football before) deal with transfers.

Did make me smile when he gave a bit to the Family Stand at 2-1, but in the end he had the last laugh.
Thought he played well and would be a decent asset but we got good money, probably more than Ebiowei and Ebosele combined. Not sure why the fans are bothered enough by a couple of daft comments to give him stick. The lad has scored 9 goals in about 70 games in his career and yet 2 in 3 against us. Maybe trying to wind him up doesn’t work.

In the confines of what we were able to do, pretty much perfect.
Given we can only offer two year deals there’s little point shopping in markets for slightly younger players as you end up in a sticky spot in a years time. So I guess the objective had to be to add as much first team ready quality as possible which we did. Hard to imagine we could have had a chance at some of the players brought in.
Could never have imagined keeping Bird, Knight and Sibley was possible either.

Exactly, very good link up play for the first goal as well.
One thing I noticed, on Saturday especially, is his runs in the box are generally towards the 6 yard box. This is where he is always gesticulating he wants crosses played. But we are tending to pull them back to the edge of the area where there is loads of space created by his runs. How many chances did we miss from these pull backs on Saturday?

You know what they say. Once you have spent £15m on buying two left wing backs you should definitely spend another £5m on loaning one for a season.
