Not sure how people can moan about it and then happily go about quoting shots and shots on target - if anything it can just add a little more context to those two particular stats.
In a one off game if doesn’t mean a huge amount (newsflash: neither do most stats) but over a longer period it’s a useful statistic.

    100% absolutely yes.
Not only would we be in the top 2 we'd be 20 points clear at the top with a +80 goal difference with every single player becoming a mainstay in their respective national teams.

Was concerned about the style of football. The Port Vale game early on was basically an embodiment of what I feared it would be but thankfully was an exception.
Even amongst this good run there has been some crap. Burton, Morecambe, Exeter and even the Ipswich game, I know it was the last time we lost which is impressive, but it was a really grim performance.
We are tough to beat and that’s a great trait to have and play some half decent football now. I didn’t like the hire in the first place as it felt eerily similar to some of the off field decisions under Mel. What’s happened since shows I was probably wrong on that which is a huge relief.

Not many teams are spending fees on players at this level though.
Plymouth seem to maybe spend the odd £100k here or there (I do think it would make sense if rather than the EFL banning fees they looked at a lifetime contract cost i.e. fee plus wages) but it’s only really Ipswich among teams we’re competing with who are dropping big fees on players, and I’d be pretty concerned if I saw us spending 7 figures on players who have never made a dent at Championship level, as they have on a few occasions.
Paying fees would help with the age profile of our squad but that is more of a long term concern I think.

Not sure we need to worry about what Ipswich are doing. There is no need to spend 7 figure fees on players at this level which is why no one else is doing it

Exactly. I can barely remember the last time we conceded a goal and that’s with two very technical footballers in centre midfield. We don’t need to add a clogger (for want of a nicer term) when two players who offer plenty on the ball are also clogging quite well between them.
There are a couple of issues in the team. Midfield isn’t one of them anymore and Warne, Bird and Hourihane all deserve a lot of credit for that.

Let's be honest, last season he was late to the tackle, off the pace and had an above average game in every 7 or 8 matches.
He can't get in a poor Wigan team, he offers little on the ball and has no creativity. We don't need to be sat in the defensive shapes that suit his style. We need to be taking the game to the opposition, creating chances and winning games.
I'm happy he isn't coming back. I think he will struggle at Aberdeen too.
I like to think Warne has a plan. If that ever involved Shinnie I'd be worried.

Yep, you can’t have the best defensive record in the league and barely give up a chance if you are carrying anyone in midfield.
Both him and Bird are playing a very underrated role in the team

Can we really grumble when as a team we aren’t letting goals in ? - sure I want knight and Sibley attacking but winning is rather important as we are fifth without playing well yet this season

I think with our current style it’s difficult for both central midfielders to look great. Demanding off the ball but quite a simple role on it. I’m not sure it suits either but both players plus Warne deserve credit for making it work to some extent.

I think Anang may well have been brought in as number one. People (I hold my hands up) were dubious of Wildsmith as a first choice, and that was reinforced for me in the early games, but now I see it was down to Rosenior’s method of playing. Normally you'd think a goalkeeper's role is pretty much the same, but he was being asked to perform a very unusual function early in the campaign. Since Warne came in, Wildsmith has become a star performer. And is clearly enjoying his football.
Tough on Anang, but his fracture has ended up as a real blessing in disguise.

Just for parity (I didn't dislike Rosenior in any way), Bournmouth's first here:

Just wasn’t sure of the relevance of goals Hull are conceding. Think I got told off (by yourself in fact) for bringing up an away win they had early on in Rosenior’s reign and that was in an actual thread about him!
