We’re down so get a bit of money for him in January and get his wages off the books.
To be honest I’m shocked that the clubs mentioned are interested in him, they certainly wouldn’t be if it wasn’t for his contract situation.

Capt Tom plays 1 good match in 20
We have 2 near 40 year olds at the heart of our defence
We dont have a proper decent striker not one .
We couldnt muster a proper go at barnsley which would have taken us above them in the first half at all ( this alone tells you everything you need to know )
Roll on the end of the season get us down , we are like a owner of a dog and that owner knows his dog should be taken to the vets to be put down ......hanging on in there hoping that when we get up the dog will be better .
It doesnt matter if rooney stays or goes , would prefer him to stay for HIS SAKE and ours , think he has won alot of people over with his attitude .
Mr Curtis Davies a manager in waiting of DCFC . Hope he sticks around with us perm in the background until that day comes .

Never mind. When we get out of League One (and we will, however long it takes) it will be all the sweeter. I'd rather we had a club and it be in L1 than no club at all.
Pack out the away ends of every ground in the league next season, enjoy some new away days and take each game as it comes.
This is what real football is about.

Seth's left foot reacted to sawley_ram in Derby finally accept 21 point deduction.
What frustrates me possibly more than the completely unfair and targeted sanctions is the way it's reported in the media. Most outsiders following this will just conclude in their minds that Derby cheated the system and deserved all of this, which is factually untrue as so often pointed out with raw figures and assessments on here, e.g. the figure put on the club's ground's value which was deemed to be acceptable until the the repeated EFL appeals finally agreed with them and they got their own way.
Anyway whatever happens I'll always love our club - Derby County - and support them no matter what. We have a great history (richer than most clubs in England!), a huge fanbase a future no matter what. Wearing my shirt with pride every weekend. COYR!

The two things we must do - or at least Wayne must - is to say that while we can mathematically stay up then that is what we must try to do. Sport occasionally throws up strange results. It’s one of its beauties.
The second thing is to learn the lesson of our 11 point season. We went into the next in a bad way. League 1 is a tough, tough league and we need to go into it in as good a place as we can. That means continuing to do as well as possible, not chucking the kids in but giving the ones that can cope the opportunity to develop their skills and career with positive experiences, not losing regularly. We play the best team we can, every match, and sort out next season when it comes.
And we fans not only need to continue to support the team as we (largely) have done, we also need to keep reminding the world of the incompetence of the EFL and their minions even when our garden is rosy again. As it will be.

I was there at that one. One of my first away games along with Lincoln. I was about 12 or 13 and was right at the front when they shut the station doors ( I think there was another football special changing at york). Derby fans trying to break the doors down (which would have fallen on us and probably would have killed a few so not very clever) until the copper shouted "if you don't back off, I'll ram this f'ing horse into you. Back on the football special and the only thing for sale in the catering carriage were apples. "Oh Bobby Bobby..."
Anyway, back on subject. Relegation to League One is not the end of the world. Having no club to support would be. My young kids and I will still go and support Derby and for the thousands who go to watch Derby with their mates or their Dad or their kids - it bonds us. Those memories of away days to York and Lincoln with my cousin when I was young, I'll keep forever. My 8 year old son still talks about the playoff final at Wembley and how great Wembley is. My daughter comes with us too now and it's quality time with them, regardless of which division we're in. That's football - not so much about the quality of the football on the pitch, but, match day and everything that we do with those we go with.

I realise as fans we might not be happy about the possibility of dropping into League 1, but come on, it's not the end of the world, especially if the EFL problems are behind us and we have new owners.
Derby will still be a massive draw for the kind of players we should be looking for. There will be young hungry players coming through at another league 1 / league 2 club looking to progress to the next level (and there will be some gems if we get the right scouting team in place), Premier League club loanees looking for a taste of first team football (and if Wayne is still here I'm sure he will be able to use his contacts) and the odd experience pro who wants to give a little back (like Curtis / Jags, who let's face it aren't at Derby for the sake of their future career). We'll also still have some of the current crop of recently promoted Academy players who will have a full season of games in them.
If we went down to League 1, we'd be a very big fish, we'll still have one of the best staduims outside of the Premier League, a fantastic training ground, Grade 1 Academy, and an amazing fan base (we'd fill most away ends as well).
So whilst I don't want us to go down as much as anybody else, let's at least consider relegation as a chance to reset and regroup, rather than as a doomsday scenario.
I was there during the old Third Division days, I remember the despair at going down, but I remember even more fondly some of the best couple of years being a Derby fan during those 2 years.
    Keep the faith Ramboy63.

He also has a combined CB pairing of almost 80 and the best he’s been able to do is bring in a striker who can’t score to compete for a spot with another 35 year old.
Phil brown on the other hand had Tommy smith, idiakez, Seth johnson, michael johnson etc. There’s a lot more context to these comparisons than simply results. Wayne has not had a fair chance at even remotely putting his own team together.
He will however be under a lot of pressure if he is our manager next season in league one to finally be measured on results - and I won’t be surprised if after say 8 games we don’t look like we are in the top 6 form, there will be a lot of people calling for him to go.

It has been earned? Based on what metric?
1 win in 15 to end last season? Surviving by the skin of our teeth and a late Cardiff intervention? This season, you say? No wins in 7? 3 wins in 17? 20th without deductions?
It is hardly a convincing case. It would be a charitable decision and incredibly sentimental.
Indeed I think there is an element of rose tinted glasses on your part. As I recall, you were fervently pro Rooney from the day he arrived.
Less risk sticking with an inexperienced manager over appointing a more experienced manager? I would say there are pros and cons to both decisions, but logic and evidence suggests going for experience unless Rooney shows great promise, which he hasn’t as yet.
Given the make up of the squad could be drastically different in six or seven months’ time - only 8 players are currently contracted past 2022 - it makes no sense to be wedded to the idea of Rooney being manager or indeed this group of players assembled under Rooney.
Rooney has done some good, we can all agree there. But there are often times when his lack of experience shines through and I think he would have to show much more as a manager for the new owners to stake the club’s future on him.
If we do end up in League One next summer, it would be much more prudent to have a complete reset and let the club be viewed with fresh eyes, both on and off the pitch.

Seth's left foot got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Jozwiak
Our defence and spine of the midfield is good enough to get us out of this battle to stay up, obviously we need Bielik and Knight fit plus maybe a signing in January to help out our two aging CB’s.
The obvious problem is at the top of the pitch:
Morrison. Playing too deep at the moment.
Jozwiak. He’s not good enough, doesn’t score, create or even take on the full backs enough.
Sibley. In his defence I don’t think he’s a winger and he also doesn’t get a run of games but he hasn’t done enough.
Lawrence. Like Keogh he is Marmite amongst fans, for what he supposedly earns a week I think he’s been a poor signing and should be released in the summer. Davies should have the armband too.
Baldock. Needs must but we need a better striker, an absolute must in January.
Kazim. He’s done pretty well and gives us a much needed presence up front.
Playing Morrison, Jozwiak and Lawrence together is also a mistake in my opinion as they are ‘luxury’ players and don’t get in the trenches often enough.

In what way were we cutting costs? Post lampard we signed rooney on huge wages, and almost over 10 million for bieliek and jozwiak. and please don't come to me saying it was in installments, you still have to pay it.
I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE people have actually brought the COVID BS. it is unbelievable to me people are that naive, and it's naive to think the authorities will be that way inclined too. we are the ONLY club that has gone into admin "because of covid", just happens that we were pissing away money the years before that - but that has nothing to do with it! It is like when we were the only club in the country to not sell season tickets "because of covid", you ever think there is more to it? it is widely laughed at across the football world that we are blaming it on covid.
for the love of god people, wake up! I am sick to death of all this off field nonsense and defending people that have no right to be defended. the club has been run into the ground, stop making excuses for them.

Interested to know your thoughts on Rooney not being the worst manager in the league. Who then is worse?
He’s probably got the worst win % of all the managers in the league. He’s probably the lest experienced. And he’s probably only one of a few who don’t have a promotion or top six finish to their name.
I’m not saying he is the worst. But as a manager, he has no credentials or achievements to his name whereas at least the likes of Grant McCann, Darren Ferguson, Lee Bowyer and Nigel Pearson have promotions on their CV.
Frankie McAvoy also has none, but he has been in a coaching capacity for the past decade whether as assistant or first-team coach.
Rooney has absolutely nothing other than his name and Mel’s previous wish to use his name to attract another buyer.
I know he has his hands tied, but I’ve seen nothing during his tenure here to suggest Rooney is capable of becoming a good manager.

    I've said it since he's been here. He's a 1 in 8 player.
Will turn up, have a decent game, score a goal and then you won't see him again. Every season.
To make him captain was bizarre. Admittedly Davies & Jagielka weren't signed at that point. But Shinnie was here. So at that time I would have given it to Shinnie.
We never hear from him either. After a poor game or a difficult defeat, it's the same players who front up. Curtis Davies, Graeme Shinnie and last night it was Jagielka.
Davies had posted something on Instagram.
That's a captain. A captain is someone who says, lads this was awful today, we're gonna get some stick here. I'll be the one that fronts up and faces the media.
    Never ever does.
His contract is up in the summer. The sooner he's out of this football club. The better.
We're a better team without him in it.

Let's be honest we're down. We all know it.
Our only hope is to get points back with the appeal, a new owner and a few new players in January.
Tonight was a shambles. Bar hitting the bar at the end, I never once felt like we were going to score at all.
Quite a few times we've got full backs in space overlapping and someone decides to have a shot from 25-30 yards instead.
Morrison did it twice, with Byrne in acres of space down the right.
Sibley when he can on. Had Ebosele and Buchanan in acres and decide to shoot.
Morrison doesn't offer us anything at all. Spends most the game playing as the third centre half. Suspended on Saturday and I think we'll play better without him.
Anybody notice captain Tom today? Said it a hundred times. Goes missing far too often.
The defending for that second goal was a complete disgrace and we deserved to lose that game based on that alone.
