GenBr reacted to Tamworthram in Takeover Update
A bit controversial but, in this instance (just this one) are the EFL really being that unreasonable? Derby seem to be deep in debt, haven’t submitted annual accounts for a few years and are potentially in breach of P&S rules. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to insist on the accounts being submitted, any penalties accepted and some kind of evidence that the club can continue to pay its way before allowing further signings. (Tin hat on).

There were reports a while back that they would allow us to sign a few more players if Mel could prove he had the funds to keep us going for the season. It doesn't seem like he wants to or is even able to.
I say it with a bitter taste in my mouth, but in this instance the EFL are actually protecting one of their member clubs for a change. They are stopping us adding more people on to a wage bill we already can't afford until our glorious leader can prove he will actually honour his obligations before he pushes us even further down poo creek.

What I would like to see:
Marshal
Festy Stearman Davies Buchanan (Forsyth if Lee is not fit)
Morrison
Watson Sibley
Jozwiak Stretton Lawrence
What I think we will actually see. 5 defensive midfielders will be needed this game since it didn't work with 4.
Roos
Byrne Stearman Davies Forsyth
Festy Lawrence Bird Shinnie Morrison
Stretton

He wanted to play 3 defensive mids when asked which england team he would select. Guess thats part of his "unique style"
Curtis didn't look happy at half time either (was watching on tv myself). Man should be the captain

Pep said he got tactics from a pack of flying geese from a drone as it looks like Rooney got his when the drone flew over 2 otters on the opposite side of each other drowning while building a damn and the others otters standing around watching

GenBr reacted to Sheff Ram in When/where is our next win coming?
Loads of threads about Rooney out/Mel out/both Rooney and Mel out/underperformed players etc etc soooo.... time for a different topic to thrill and amuse us all.
The key question is:
"Where is the next win coming from?
We've no win in the last 9 league games now (and won 1 in 17) and we are desparately in need of 3 points.
The burning question is when and where is it coming from?
What do you think good Ramsfolk?
I'm the eternal optimist so I'm going for:
° HULL (A)
Get your predictions in and the winner(s) ? win a night out at a club of their choice with the main man himself, WR.

Yup, realised I'd got my stats wrong and it's already been edited.

Obviously team selection alone is only part of the puzzle. We need to bin off the split midfielder tactic & allow attacking midfielders to stay around their final 3rd. They're on the park to create, not dictate tempo & Stretton needs help up there.
Would bring in Ebosele in for Byrne after the latter's poor start to the season. Whilst agree that Festy's future lies up the park, he'll probably find it a bit easier attacking from deep. I'd also bring in Sibley & Watson as part of a fluid 3 behind Stretton...yes, its a very young attacking unit but Jozwiak looks off it & all have played together a lot for u23s
Want us to control the ball so Morrison drops deep alongside Bird replacing Shinnie, who has offered laboured sideways passing & weak defensive cover so far this season

We will win. I'm feeling optimistic.
Followed by the submission of our accounts and an admission from the club we have failed FFP, shortly followed by an EFL statement deducting us 10 points.
So -7 for the day. Which would be good if we played golf.

Apparently by Derby fans a homophobic slur at a Peterboro player and racist comments aimed at our own player Jozwiak.
Hopefully the brain dead morons are identified and banned for life.

GenBr reacted to Bris Vegas in Please sack them NOW
The only reason Phillip Cocu abondoned his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and switch to a back three was because we were carrying an overweight, unfit 35-year-old in midfield who was undroppable.
He had to get more defensive players to shore up central areas as we were embarrassingly overrun in that Blackburn game.
Wayne Rooney’s presence and the obligation to play him got Cocu the sack. It was inevitable, playing with virtually 10men every game.
It’s no coincidence that our best performances early last season (at Forest where we should have won and against Cardiff City) came during Rooney’s isolation period.

GenBr reacted to Gee SCREAMER !! in When was the last time we went 18 league matches without a win?
It' s the longest winless run in the history of the English league. We only had to beat Doncaster or Barnsley to avoid it. Equalled a couple of years ago by Macclesfield who could have broke it but managed to get two injury time goals to beat Carlisle. Same season Watford equalled our FA Cup6-0 defeat I think. That would have gone if John Stones could score an open goal from 3 yards with a minute to go.

It was the longest winless run in prem history wasn't it? We can still extend it if we ever see the Prem again.
I think it set some kind of european record as well, as they kept saying Schalke was going ti beat our record at one point.

It’s not going to drag anyone out of position when it’s played at snails pace. Mind you, given the age of our back line walking football won’t be far off!
