Am sure Warne said last night that we were outbid for a player by a team in the same league as us

And? It doesn't magically alter the fact that we've got resources that most L1 clubs could only dream of.

So we got outbid for a striker, oh well. Was that the only striker we could possibly sign? Of course not.

Relative to the league we are in, yes. Warne has a squad that is as good as, if not better than they had relative to the league they were in.

The idea that Warne is some impoverished coach with no resources and a begging bowl is utter nonsense. Our wage bill (even on our business plan), pulling power as a club (purely on size), facilities etc eclipse the rest of the division with maybe one or two exceptions.

We are currently less than the sum our parts and ultimately the buck stops with the manager.

Oh and for anyone saying my expectations should be more realistic, Warne has said a few times that they want to be, and are aiming to be in the top two. Should his expectations be more realistic as well then?

players have been giving the ball away so much in the last few games-Warne cannot be blamed for that-they need to take a bit of responsibility.

He has to take a share of the responsibility because if he is telling them to get the ball out wide or up the pitch as quickly as possible the players are required to attempt riskier passes in to contested areas of the pitch more frequently.

The tactical setup is the reason we have chaotic pinball matches.

Now, I agree that the players are executing poorly, but that just compounds the issues with the tactical setup.

So do you think the players we currently have now are as good as we had during the years you mentioned. The answer is emphatically NO. So why do you expect them to play like them. The fact is we no longer have money to throw around, have a shoestring budget currently and cannot afford the type of players you want. This is a time for patience, understanding and support for the Club/team - not beating everyone up because we are not as good as we were in the hay days. We were nearly “no longer” - people need to get realistic!.

Out of interest, which Derby sides have you enjoyed watching?

Teams playing football under Jim Smith, George Burley, Steve McLaren were all good to watch.

The simple fact is that we are in the third tier and making hard work of it. I think our points total is higher than our performances have warranted. Warne might be the man to get us out of L1 (although that remains to be seen) but he is quite clearly not the man to take us any further than that.

A man as smart as Clowes must be able to see it. I refuse to believe he has a Paul Warne shaped blind spot.

  6. I've argued that Warne is not the right man for us consistently for quite some time now, and in that time Ive tried to condense my argument down in to something as concise as possible in an effort to make it simple to understand.

I think it's as simple as this, do I enjoy watching Derby County play and do I feel like the personnel we have in place are suitable for the short, medium and long term ambitions of the club?

I currently do not enjoy watching Derby play. The performance levels are among the worst I've seen in my life outside of the 11 point season. In terms of our ambitions I will concede that in the short term Warne might get us promoted from L1, I believe that would be in spite of him not because of him. In the medium/long term I have absolutely no faith in his ability to take us beyond being a lower end, relegation threatened Championship team and we surely want more than that?

So we obviously are skint and the likelihood of further incomings this January are slim.

If we are skint then it follows that Warne won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Who seems unwilling or unable to change the modus operandi of his team.

    So what changes then?

Our chances of finishing in the top two?

HT seriously poor and the players leave to boos.

    Completely outwitted tactically.

They are doubling up on us in wide areas, so what do we do……….keep playing it wide as quickly as possible.

Sibley, Nelson and Cash are ok but the rest very poor.

We need to mix our play, Chelts know what we’re going to do and are managing us well.

The frequency with which Warne gets outwitted tactically is alarming given the level we are at. If he manages us in the second tier that's only going to become more of a problem.
