Knight has only got a year left, we'll be lucky to get 2 million for him.

That final paragraph just about sums it up. Because of your strong opinions on Warne your are unable to objectively see the potential we have as a club for recruitment this summer; we’re not limited by restrictions in the way we have been previously, there’s been time and planning, we allegedly can spend a bit of money where appropriate, players looking at joining clubs at this level will likely see us as a draw over other league one sides, we’ve got good fans, facilities, stadium, a likely promotion push….but no because Warne is a bit of a cheesy character we won’t be able to sign anyone 🙄

Ok, I’ve done my bit in looking to promote a bit of balance and reasoning into the conversation. You’ve got your views, fair enough.

Consistently scored and assisted goals in the championship and league one, playing in midfield for a top 6 (horrible) championship side this season, managed by a player who knows a bit about playing in midfield. He combines goals and assists with being combative in midfield, he’s exactly the type of player we would need in the middle of the park to complement Bird/Knight/Hourihane.
A team is more than just the sum of its parts. Warne has been able to build sides capable of promotion from this league that have scored goals and been able to defend. Some of the players in those Warne sides have gone on to play well at other clubs. Your argument that he can’t find a player, especially now supported by a “recruitment expert” who found a number of gems for Oxford at this level just seems to ignore what facts are out there in favour of your dislike of Warne.

Be sad to see him go but he always seems to have been injured for us and a saving on his substantial wages plus any fee should, hopefully , fund 3/4 decent signings. The club is bigger than any individual and his transfer would be best for all concerned.I wish him well .

We’re led to believe that Bielik alone is worth roughly 20% of our wage bill - £8m total, £1.5m per annum for Bielik.
If we get ANY money for him and a clean break in wages then snap it up.

Someone who's scored 43 goals in over two seasons in league one in a poor side is exactly the type we need.
Warne says he wants players between 25-30 and whilst he's at the top end of that he can clearly finish. We more than likely will be playing a 352 next season so we need at least 4 strikers and having 2 of last season's top scorers in the ranks will surely be a good thing.
We're in League One and we need good league one players and he's one of them.

Lloyd Jones, centre back, age 27, available on a free after rejecting a new contract at Cambridge United. Won a clean sweep of their player of the season awards.

Regardless of his eventual contribution to our season we did sign a midfielder on loan in January from a Premier League club. And Warne has signed players from sides other than Rotherham when he was manager there. Players signing for the club won’t solely be about Warne, though he’ll play a large part in it all, there will be other factors considered by players joining permanently and any loans we may pursue.
You don’t like the man’s demeanour, fine, doesn’t mean other people in football won’t. Can’t we leave off the general sniping at Warne until the season has at least started? Or focus it specifically on things about last season you’d like to see improve?

Your personal decisions when taking on a job may not equate to the same considerations made by people involved in football, it’s a relatively unique industry and you don’t tend to go out on loan in the vast majority of “normal jobs”. Clubs will send their players out on loan for a number of reasons, might be game time, might be to play a certain “brand” of football which I think is what you’re alluding to, might be to get used to playing in a more physical league to combine toughness with their existing silky skills and so on.
Just seemed an odd comment to post in a thread which is meant for people to share and discuss transfer suggestions. There was no suggestion just comments that Warne won’t be able to attract loan players to the club, and yet Warne brought in loans from clubs in higher divisions in January. Plenty of discussion of Warne’s merits and faults in other threads, the failings of January have been well covered also, and his use of players in alternative positions to their apparent strengths. He now has the summer to shape the squad according to how he wants the team to play, if he finds the right players to win games and get us out of this league I’ll be happy. I’m optimistic about the summer and our recruitment as I see very little reason not to be at the moment and am content to give Warne until the transfer window closes and the season gets going before I confirm my judgement of our recruitment’s successes and failures.

nogbad van 50 reacted to Ambitious in Wes Harding
Surprised this is the first time we’ve been linked with him. Almost a nailed on certainty he comes here - meant to have a good relationship with Warne.
He actually started last season really well until Warne left Rotherham and then performances went downhill, for whatever reason. A good signing on a free.
If we can get Harding, Bradley and Cashin as our centre backs next season then it’s a decent base to build from.

nogbad van 50 reacted to Caerphilly Ram in Lee Bonis - new contract at Larne
Your recent posts have dismissed the standard of free agents we might be able to sign, dismissed the potential for us to spend fees, and is seemingly now just dismissing any potential signing we make.
How about waiting to see how it unfolds before peddling anymore doom? The fact we can allegedly spend fees has already disproved some of your claims, how we spend those fees will be key. Bargains will be out there and we are going to be a draw to many players.

Short memories and lack of perspective at times for many in our fan base. We’re in a bad patch, it happens in football and even more when you’ve got limited options.
Leigh Curtis just tweeted saying there was no contact for the pen ?

What on earth does Warnes selection or game plan have to do with a referee giving a penalty against us where there was no contact?
Also what do you want him to do? We have a threadbare squad due to restrictions imposed on us.
