We took just over a million for Bird with 3 championship campaigns under his belt, an U18 premier league winners medal and an EFL apprentice of the year award at championship level, on the understanding we may well have got less at tribunal.  It will be less for Burrows if it's on a criteria basis.  Either way, I suspect emphasis to be on midfield pace and goals, strikers and a quick centre half to compliment the ones we have.  Not every player can be outside our budget or we have an issue.

Reminds me of a flight to Salzburg many years ago when female pilots were rare. We had a pleasant uneventful trip and were walking across to the terminal. We were pretty much last off.
Missus says to me : " Don't you worry about flying with lady Pilots?"
Me: "No , they have same training, more risk averse, so I'm fine!"
Then I have to add: " As long as there's a male co-pilot to hold the map the right way up!"
Female voice right behind me. The pilot: "We don't use maps any more sir! We can't trust the men to fold them up properly!"
    She was smiling!

Not really , that thread , that thread ?,
this forum was made pretty much unusable for a fair time , a new Warne out thread every ten minutes , every other thread invaded and turned into a Warne out thread by a very determined few posters ,brow beating , swamping people who just wanted to support and read about derby county and happy to be patient with the manager, eventually people got sick to death with it and started to fight back against this aided by the sterling job it was becoming clearer and clearer Warne was doing ,,,then what ? A rewrite of history and veiled accusations of bullying ,,, really ?
some really need to take a long hard look at the state this forum was becoming and the behaviour of some posters who were brow beating the hell out of people on virtually every thread🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t do it on purpose. Early days for me 8/10 years ago, I thought you were a balanced poster with much reason to offer in debates and a lot of Thoughtful comments. I just took exception to the bullying thing, the victim mentality, the seeming desire to avoid a back and forth discussion / weighing of the odds. This is a football forum, we all have views. Some pretty strong, some knee jerk passion; that we might either regret or be glad we voiced. There will inevitably in these circumstances be people who disagree with us and use firey language .. jees we are a bunch of folk arguing the toss in an open environment. No body is being threatening. When “new speak” starts to creep in and somehow you aren’t able to be forthright without someone sticking a name tag on you grates beyond measure. Sorry, I don’t mean to be personal or irksome but I have a point to make and believe I have been measured, reasonable and argued with logic. The moment ( and this isn’t aimed at you) I see certain language forms my hackles go up. “Gas light” “Straw man” .. there are plenty, that in isolation are useful but too often they speak of a corporate HR dept of a state institution.  Tick box, say the right thing, pass the course. It’s intellectually shrivelled.

If I’m brutally honest and leaving sentiment apart, I think we need better players than Smith, Thompson, Elder, Washington and Barkhuisen in the Championship. I’m not sure we should keep Forsyth though he’s been written off before. After a while, injuries take their toll.
I’m not sure Bradley is first choice and if he isn’t, then I’d rather see a younger CB in the squad. Bradley can stay if he wants to fight for his place. Rooney shows promise as additional back up.
Collins may be more ambitious than a squad option though his attitude is excellent. Gayle is too much of a risk injury-wise and has failed recently in the Championship.
I’d get a new LB/LWB, a new CB, three midfielders plus Adams, two new strikers and a winger or two.

Got halfway through Killers of the Flower Moon last night and have to confess I'm a tad bored.
I think there's a certain sense of self indulgence, pomposity and arrogance in making films this long that aren't called Lawrence of Arabia.
As you can expect from Baby Yoda, it's well directed, very well acted, and clever, but it's lacking something for me.

I wouldn't say I was posh or snobby in any way.
Butlins/Skeggy was a regular holiday when I was a kid and I thought it was fine.
Went 15years ago for a cheap weekend and it looked clean,  chalets were modern-ish. Was pleasantly surprised  .. my mate was right....she went regularly and raved about it.
Over the course of the next 24hours I realised I was no longer the child I had been.
The caravan and chalets sat in a semi concrete environment that felt depressing. The pool was cold....I mean really cold.
The people were rough. I'm  sorry they were. At around 6pm there were tons of women in pj's n slippers, smoking and walking round with wine and fags. They then all headed over to the club which consisted of really terrible cabaret acts and everyone getting smashed and swearing at their out of control kids.
We stayed 1 night and went home never to return.

I should give it a good spray down.  God knows how many splayed buttocks have been jammed against those walls when the shower gel gets dropped.  Hundreds i'd imagine.

Lots of short memories here from the people wanting to release Fozzy. It’s barely a matter of weeks since his 90 minutes against Bolton did arguably as much as any other performance by any other player at any point in the season to get us promoted.
Sure, he’s getting on and may no longer be a starter in the Championship, but it takes more than eleven players to see out a season and I can’t see him letting us down.

He's earned another year, but I think Warne will be honest with him and it'll come down to whether Collo accepts that he won't be guaranteed starts the way he has been in L1. The club will have been looking at how to strengthen the attack all season and for all that I love Collo to bits and fully acknowledge the hugely significant part he's played in getting us promoted, it seems unlikely he'd be a regular starter in a Championship side, at this point in his career. Can never really write the lad off though, can you and if he left I'd see him as more likely going to a top 6 side in L1 where he's guaranteed to get all the games his legs can handle. Whatever he decides, he does so with my heartfelt gratitude though. Absolute Trojan IMO.

The Championship table is quite daunting.  An awful lot of teams with Premier League experience and cash. Plenty of big clubs with lofty ambitions.
I'd take midtable, decent crowds, better football, stability and some younger players coming through.

I love this team. A mix of our own boys who first kicked a ball with us when they really were just boys. Then through adversity and effort became men. Then the old stagers in the sunset of careers, along with a charging bull who said our field was his home, Then a loan player with infectious grit, humour and energy. An aging, bloody minded unfashionable striker who did what he was supposed to do silencing his critics. They became a team over 18 months with reserves of fortitude reinforced by a manager who understands character and what makes good people.
Well that was alright wasn’t it ! Thank you Max, wonderful parting gift (pssst you can change your mind if you want )
Did you see Collo in the first half asking the east stand what the Bolton score was ?
Sibs played a blinder, NML’s touch is pretty ropey sometimes but Inam so glad he’s one of ours. Bradley came good with that knock down. Ebou ! What can you say ? Engine room, guts, effectiveness - sign him up. Wilson with a haircut like a 1950’s schoolboy had their RB on toast, with sprinkles and Worcester sauce. When are we building Nelson a new column ?

Oh and why did we let their No 33 own the edge of the box on every corner ? Meh … who cares right now !

What a lovely day COYR … see you all in the transfer thread then  🤣
