Not that it had any bearing on the result last night I did find that Havertz's penalty was way too egregious in terms of the stopping his momentum before he took it and it should have been retaken.

Not our finest hour (or 90 mins).......
Oh well, there's a chance to redeem themselves on Wednesday.
Dropping Gilmour was criminal, and it shows the drop off in quality from Hickey to Patterson to Ralston. The Germans ran him ragged.
On the upside, I managed to get 2 tickets for the Swiss game last night, so at least I get to see at least 1 game live.
Defeats like last night make the victories all the sweeter.

I'm sure this won't effect their confidence going forward. I imagine being the tournament opener can be pretty nerve wracking. I imagine they probably just wanted to keep things tight and that lead to more nerves which leads to more errors and then to even more pressure. I'm no fan, but I do feel sorry for them. An embarrassing night but just put it behind you. At the end of the day, the result might not be what they'd hoped for but they still sit top of the group with a +4 goal difference

Tactically, Scotland have done horrific here. The 3 centre backs are being pulled all over the place with Germany in behind the wing backs. It’s like a knife through butter. Even if they win the ball, there’s zero out ball.
Wirtz and Musiala are exceptional, but they’ve not helped themselves at all.

Ive looked at previous England squads going into tournaments and made the equation of how many of our players would get into say France, Germany, Argentina starting line ups and been honest about it. Its has not been many over the years.. always compared our best players to theirs and come up short against the likes of both Ronaldos, Zindane, Van Basten, Figo, Henry and many more.
This tournament I call Walker, Kane, Foden, Bellingham and perhaps Rice as starters for every team out there.
I love the fact that we have unknowns like Eze, Mainoo, Wharton, Gordon.
My emotion around this squads ability is uber positive.
Its a brave squad and now Southgate needs to be brave enough and savvy enough… it can happen.

    Thats the positive…
At the same time with England I see a pattern that worries me. I give Mainoo as an example.
Lovely player, keeps the ball and awareness around him is exemplery. Reminds me of Seedorf.
And 3 games into his England career he is already passing sideways and backwards!
One or two examples of when this didnt happen would be Gazza.. but in general we start to adopt a safe not brave mindset and Im fairly certain this is what costs us.
If we are in a quarter or semi final needing a goal to win I want to see every attacking player we have out there.
4 upfront and the holding mids gone…
    Strap yourselves in…

Yep 1000 a day is where the estimates have been at. Include huge tank, apv and artillery losses and you can see the increased support from the US and EU coming through allowing Ukraine to stabilise the front line after long period of ammo shortage.
Interesting that Putin throws out a peace proposal today, on the eve of the Swiss peace forum to try and destabilise it.
The demand for four regions of Ukraine and the promise never to join NATO, is like a next door neighbour burgling your house and telling you they won’t steal from you again as long as you let them keep the stuff they stole, give them some of your garden and leave all your doors and windows open in future.

My dog says, people who don't clean up dog poo.

Until I moved back to this country, I had never seen dog crap hanging from tree branches.
Yesterday I saw 3 effing lots.
If I forget the pouch thing I drop my dog's poop bags in, I will often leave it in the middle of the path if I'm walking away from the car. Then I'll pick it up on the way back.

I thought the bags were just people forgetting, but I soon realised that they somehow seem to think wrapping it in 100,00 years to degrade plastic and popping it in a tree is a viable option.
What a bunch of utter asshats.

The implication Warne only dropped Hourihane because of fan criticism is pretty naïve to be fair, and does come across like trying to undermine Warne's success by giving the credit to fans that were whinging at the time?

4 of 6 episodes in. It's very visually compelling somehow. Lots of programmes start and I'm trying not to mess on my phone and initially feel apathetic, not the case with this.
It has the feel of a (long, slow) film rather than a mini-series. The characters are stronger, more immediate... the narrative is more black and white. Somehow the plot doesn't seem totally ridiculous and I'm interested in what it's trying to say - there is a lot of societal commentary and it's done well enough for me to ignore its heavy-handed nature occasionally.
Verges on thinking its cleverer than it possibly is... and Benedict Cumberbatch is definitely marmite.
Not sure I'm 'enjoying' it. But it's definitely got my attention and is different from other series.

The previous tone (from the mostly now quiet) 'anti-Warne' posters was much more negative,  much more 'shutting down opposing views' etc etc than anything I am seeing now.
And as I said at the time as it a Derby supporter site, felt more antagonistic on top of that as they were hammering the manager, the players, the football,  even Clowes for a short while.  So I can see why - having achieved promotion - to still be moaning even before the transfer window has opened about a season that hasn't even started yet can get a bit tiring for some people. (Not arguing that's exactly the case in this instance).
Especially knowing certain posters are just waiting for any excuse to come out of the woodwork with the same incessant negative posting - which at times took over every single thread.
One of my bugbears is when reasonably sensible opposition fans get absolutely jumped on for any tiny criticism of us. Yet some our own fans seem to think it's OK to launch into ridiculous OTT tirades about the club and then act all hard done by when someone eventually tries to counter it.
Anyway, think we just need to move the conversation on... left without the focus of games or transfers this navel gazing is what fills the void.
Personally I think you're a good poster so hopefully everyone has had their say now and can move on.

Does someone farting constitute a joke? Not really, and I laugh at that.
Now an actual fart joke - where the punchline is 'I'm Tessa Sanderson, not Fatima Whitbread'...  is the funniest thing ever to me.

If that’s the case then Warne going on national radio and stating categorically he wants a better keeper than the ones he had, probably not the biggest vote of confidence.

Think most of what you wrote was fair, sensible....
But, I totally disagree with this bit.
On the terraces there are more much extreme views expressed all the time. I'm quite liable to lean over and say to my mate 'oh ffs what the **** is abc doing today, he's been absolutely **** all game'.
Or...'why the **** is Warne not making any changes, any idiot see they are going to concede any minute' etc etc.
My mate may agree with my knowledgeable thinking... or say he thinks something totally different.
The difference is that its left there. Its a brief moment. We both know its desire to see us win that's driving what we say. We move on. We feel better for a moan. On here, it just lingers, gets repeated...over and over at times, gets dissected, over analysed...  the devil makes work for idle hands.

Fair points both - I should clarify what sort of comments I'm referring to!
I don't mean the sort of general negative comments that you absolutely do hear a lot in the in the terraces and at the bar before the game. I'm definitely guilty of a groan to the person left or right of me!
I mean the sort of responses you seem to get on here now to reasonable comments/criticisms.
For example, if I'm sat on a supporters bus and I turn to the person next to me and say "I'm a bit worried about how we'll get on in the division above under Warne next season due to X, Y, Z..." I think it's pretty unlikely that that person will turn to me and say they think I'm a victim-blaming bullsh11er and to stop feeling oppressed. Nor are they likely to tell me to "go and sit somewhere else if you don't like it."
If I'm being honest it's the sort of thing that just ends up making me feel less inclined to come on this forum anymore. Which sucks because I live over 200 miles away from Derby so, for me, it's my primary outlet for this sort of stuff. But why bother if that's what the responses will be like now?
    I just think it's a shame.
