hales300k reacted to Sheepdog in Away Tickets - 2022/23
I am hoping for 1 ticket for Bristol Rovers and 2 for Exeter. I’m an away member, but with less than 5 matches, so I am in the last membership window (which opens next Wednesday at 10am).
Not that confident there will be any Bristol ones left by then, so have registered on their website in case. However, when I went on to see how it worked, it wouldn’t let me buy a ticket because I’m a ‘newly registered client’ which I guess is their way of preventing away fans doing what I am trying to do 😂
Anyone got any tips about getting around this? This is my first ever post BTW 👍

Jeff arrived during the Brian Clough era during my transition from school to the world  of work. I am not aware of talking about conversation rates in those days, but he didn’t seem to need many chances to be able to put the ball in the onion bag. Sadly he simply didn’t get many matches, and was usually brought on from the bench.
I started this topic because I found out today that sadly he passed away about eight years, and I had no idea. ?
He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, which normally gives you 3 years to live from the time of diagnosis. Jeff died after only 9 weeks. How sad.

I've had hospitality in the Toyota Suite on several occasions, which included a seat in the Directors Box three times.
However, the Directors Box tickets are given only when there are seats available and only when there is a small group of match day sponsors, otherwise you get a seat on the balcony outside the suite on the half-way line, more-or-less above the dug outs.
I've also been in the Igor Stimac Lounge and Captains Table, all of which are excellent places to have a pre-match meal, which, of course, are a cheaper option, which gives you a seat in the Toyota/West Stand (Captains), or on the balcony in the NW Corner (Igor's).
All-in-all, an excellent way to watch a game, in very comfortable surroundings, and, before anyone calls me a  member of the 'Prawn cocktail brigade', I am also a very long-standing season ticket holder who does clap, sing and occasionally give the players my opinion!!

Really like this initiative so made our way over to the hub before the game on Saturday to buy £20 worth. Lovely guy at the door who spent 10 minutes telling me all about his struggles with his mental health and how much the community trust had helped him. Said he would never have been able to talk to fellow fans without the confidence he had gained through them and had learned how to help others which in turn helped him. Nervous as hell but he wanted to do his bit to repay them. Makes you realise just what a positive effect any form of community outreach can have and what a strong brand dcfc is. Loved hearing his story and all he told me about the various things the club do to support in areas I wasn't aware of. Whoever you were you are a truly inspiring man. Keep up the great work.

I had a call from British Transport Police, with a resolution I was happy with.
Someone viewed the footage that Officer Smith had filmed, and there is an acceptance that many of his comments were 'stupid'. It wasn't appropriate to speak to the male Derby fan in that way, and I didn't deserve the threat of being pulled around by my scarf.
It's hardly the most devastating thing in the world, but Officer Smith's line manager has been informed, and they're going to give him some training. They'll also be keeping an eye on whether similar complaints are made in the future.
I hope they're not, because I don't want the bloke to get killed over it. I wouldn't want to do his job. In the end, nobody got hurt, but people have kicked off for a lot less than that.
So, that's that. If you were one of the people who were mistreated on - I think - the delayed 17:44, the mistakes have been acknowledged. In particular, if the couple I mentioned in my earlier message are reading, I hope it makes you feel better, because neither of you deserved to be intimidated in the way you were.

I like Paul Warne and he comes across like a great character... but 2 wins out of 7 in this league, with this squad, isn't good enough. If form doesn't improve soon and we drop out of the playoffs I'd want questions to be being asked.

I don't think anything will come of it, but, we'll see. I just filled in British Transport Police's online complaint form:
I went to catch the train from Barnsley Interchange, following the Barnsley-Derby County football match, intending to travel back to Sheffield.
I wasn't allowed through the doors of the station, for a while, in the first instance. I posed the question: what? You won't permit me onto the platform, even though I've got a valid travel document? The answer was no - you're going to have to wait. Eventually, I was allowed onto the platform, just as the train was coming in.
As I expected, I was squashed up against the train door. I ended up standing next to two Derby fans, a husband and wife, with some other Derby fans in front of me, and then two members of the British Transport Police against the other set of train doors.
The British Transport Police officers let a few more fans on, and, at that point, it was hardly possible to move. Still, they continued to admit passengers, to the point where the volume of people meant that I ended up being pushed into the lady Derby supporter. I think this was preceded by one of the British Transport Police officers pushing someone, because they wouldn't (or could not, due to the lack of space), move down the train.
Understandably, her husband complained loudly, about the fact that his wife had almost been pushed over. Fortunately, she was unhurt.
My concerns arise from the way that the British Transport Police officers dealt with her husband. To contextualise - I am a Barnsley fan, and I was surrounded by supporters of the other club. The Derby supporters were loud, singing their songs, and many of them had alcohol. Their team had just lost, too. In my experience, a combination of those last two things can be a recipe for threats, aggression, and general unpleasantness. At no point, though, did I feel intimidated by any Derby fans - I was happily talking to a couple of them. For a busy train, after a football match, it was as peaceable as it gets.
The fan whose wife had been pushed over was addressing, from memory, British Transport Police officer Smith, who normally works out of Leeds, and has been with the police, since 1981. If that doesn't identify him, I took some surreptitious video footage with my smartphone, which you can have, if you like.
It isn't verbatim, but parts of the conversation went like this, with 'F', being the fan whose wife had been pushed over, and 'O', being officer Smith.
F - why did you push my wife over?
O - I can push whoever I want. They (I think 'they', meant the yellow-jacketed stewards, who had been outside the train station) cannot, but we can, and we will, if we have to.
F - what? You're not even going to apologise?
O - carry on with your mouth, and I'll arrest you, when we pull into Sheffield.
I also had a conversation with officer Smith, just as we were arriving into Sheffield. He said he would have had no problem 'pulling me by [my] scarf', through the solid mass of humanity in front of me, and into the passageway which connects the carriages, if he had been required to do so. When I asked what the consequences for my health would have been from such a decision, he was unconcerned. There was not much in the way of a response to my comment that, if you treat people like animals, you shouldn't be surprised if they behave liked animals.
Officer Smith, when prompted by a different Derby fan, also expounded upon the subject of police intelligence, and how the police decide whether someone 'can be a risk.' Essentially, this came down to attire. Two of the brands mentioned by officer Smith, were Stone Island, and CP. I wanted to ask officer Smith whether this was the same mentality which sees Black citizens targeted, as a consequence of police intelligence, but, as he had already told me 'not to get excited', I thought better of it.
Officer Smith confirmed that he had been filming, so you may wish to view said footage.
My own comments are as follows: it was only this morning when I read that one per cent of police officers, are under investigation, for alleged criminal activity of their own. It isn't even two years since Sarah Everard was murdered by a serving police officer. In more recent times, there's been David Carrick, too. Now, obviously - obviously - I am not comparing a rude police officer, whose every action I disagreed with, with the murderer of Sarah Everard.
But, if public confidence in the police is as low as it's ever been because of the above events, my experience on the train is not going to restore that confidence. Nobody I saw deserved to be treated with the rudeness, and contempt, which officer Smith displayed. An apology, and an acceptance that he'd made the wrong decision, in letting more people onto the train, would have gone a long way to defusing the situation. I make mistakes in my job, and, when I do, I apologise. And, this man has been one of the public faces of your organisation, for more than four decades!
I'm appalled. I've never done a thing wrong in my life, and yet one of the upholders of the law, thinks there is nothing wrong with telling me he'd pull me around by my scarf, through a line of other human beings, on an already jampacked train. I've been all over the country with Barnsley, and only the police in South Yorkshire, behave in such a high-handed, intimidating way.
    Thanks for your attention.

    Hello.
I read on the Barnsley forum, that there's a thread on a Derby site (I'm assuming it must mean here, but I can't see it), about the behaviour of the police, last night.
I was on a train to Sheffield after the game, and saw (mainly Derby) fans be treated/spoken to, in what I thought was an appalling way.
The Derby fans I was around, were loud, and some had cans of whatever, but they weren't doing anything wrong. Not aggressive, not swearing, nothing that would merit the police pushing them, until one was shoved into me, and fell over.
I managed to film some bits, and I know that British Transport Police Officer Smith, who normally works out of Leeds, and has been with the police since 1981, according to him, was the main source of the Derby fans' anger.
If the bits I filmed might be of any use, let me know if someone wants them. I don't know if there's anything that can be done, really, but I was shocked at what I saw.
    Thanks,
    A Barnsley fan.

Hi guys!! I just want to thank you for your welcoming in representation of all Galician Rams. We had such a nice and funny time.
Pride Park is even more impressive than we thought watching from TV, and  the team was a 10 the other day. Also, every person that we met before, during and after the game was extremely nice, and we loved not only the team, but the city as well.
I'm sure that we'll be back as soon as we can.  We had already been Derby fans for a few years, but after this experience we are Rams for life.
You people are world class. GO RAMS!!

Will we get a bigger allocation for Barnsley than what we currently have? with them doing so well etc.
I am down in Derby for a funeral of a wonderful DCFC friend on the Friday and would like to go to the Barnsley game on the Saturday.
I’m about to book travel and accommodation, but not knowing if I can get in or not for the Barnsley fixture, doesn’t make the planning any easier. I didn’t buy an Away membership as I’d be in the very last section hoping for the best anyway.
When my wonderful friend was young, we managed to get into Derby matches all around the world, a lot easier than this so called modern world is now.
    Up The Rams.

As a Vale fan I was gutted after the match but the consensus among our fans was that the best team won. Thought we edged a tetchy first half but after scoring we sat back and invited you on and you duly obliged. Last 20 minutes you looked like a top of the table side. That was the best our goalie has played all season! Unfortunately both our main strikers(Ellison and Wilson)! are out injured so we were VERY limited up front. As for the away following, I thought you lot were superb. Sang loudly all through the match apart from, understandably, the 10 mins after we scored. I've supported Vale since 1969 and think overall that was THE best overall away backing I've heard in that time. You should be proud. That stand you were in has excellent acoustics and will be our home end next season with away fans being housed in the stand opposite you last night. As for on the pitch I'd say, though you only really started playing late on, you were the second best team I've seen at Vale Park this season, with Ipshit being clearly the best. Hope you get promoted with Sjoke City exchanging places with you! Again, great effort by your support last night! Our pitch is s*** but looked like Wembley compared to the old Baseball Ground mud heap of the 70s. Didn't seem to hinder Kevin Hector, Roger Davies or Alan Hinton? too much though.

Few weeks back Derby were like mid-league and we ourselves at the top, and now look at it.   I mean seriously, what the hell.
If you beat Port Vales tomorrow and we lose to Morecambe then the distance will be reduced to just one point, unbelievable just a month or two back.   Yeah, I'm worried.  It's got to be said.    You got a game in hand over us also.
I take the opportunity to congratulate Rams on moving up from mid-league to the verge of an automatic promotion opportunity, there's no malice or ill-feeling or why should there be, but a lot of our fans are getting mighty antsy about the time ahead having lost a number of valuable points in recent games.
I think teams like us, you look at the top two automatic promotion places and question can we really make it, you know, invade that territory and stick with it.    In truth I answer for my own team No, not sure how you feel about your own club endeavors for the months ahead, but you got to realize, it's a tough ask for sure.
Probably said before teams like us, of previous stature and accomplishment, don't really belong in this league.   You know what the worse thing is, being at the very top for certain stages sure that you're going to do it, only to see your team fall away and people are asking questions is the play-offs the best thing to accept even at this stage of this season.
It's going to be an interesting round of games tomorrow for sure.     Mentioned on a Town forum to our own fanbase (that) only the strong and whoever holds their nerve most  (from Plymouth to all top six club names) can, or will, only succeed in terms of a promotion.
