Yes? I already said earlier he played a fantastic ball, excellent run first half too. He’s about the only footballer we have left.
FWIW, we’ve been much better this second half. Creating chances and looking the better side. Collins in particular has been excellent.

Our problem is we are trying to get NML closer to Collins to do the things he can't do, ie getting beyond defenders. We just need a direct striker and a combative tall CDM and it will give us a proper spine because we're lacking genuine prowess in the middle of the park and someone to either play off or stretch the defence, at the moment, even though we're winning, that's where we are coming unstuck imo

Whatever we think of Burton (in terms of rivalry, status etc.) I think it would be sensible for the first thought today of being solid in defence and midfield, whatever team is picked. Build up some confidence and let them come on to us so there is more space in their half when we attack.

Then don't make a big deal about loosening of embargoes after the Sheff Wed game. We still haven't paid a fee or loan fee.
Warne keeps sating we are 4 players short but then suggests we can only sign 2.
No one expected multi million pound signings, but we didn't expect three 30+ CFs with recent poor scoring records.
Two things are clear, the actual budget is smaller than the anticipated one.
Secondly we don't have enough players with pace to play the managers system, yet he signed slow players.
We were told this was going yo be a competitive squad. As it stands it isn't.
When you have 2 or 3 times as many fans as rivals and you have a smaller squad, people are 'entitled' to be disappointed.

I can understand the sentiment of people saying it's only 2 games and he needs more time but that somewhat does right off the rest of his time here. The thing for me is that the more time that passes the more evidence stacks up in favor of niggling worries about his potential limitations and that some of his perceived strengths might not be present.
When he joined on the one hand you had his success at Rotherham, a seemingly good record at man management, experience in the division and that he would be able to build a young athletic team. On the other hand there were concerns over his style of play, his results in the Championship, whether he would be able to convert success from Rotherham and whether he head the necessary coaching ability in his staff.
He inherited a good squad and a 7th place finish was below par. Nothing awful but a finish were I think it was fair to ask questions. The bigger concerns for me though were less about the table. Tactically he looked limited, inflexible and like he had a naive view of the game. Coaching of players appeared to go backwards over the season who in a few cases looked rustier and more bereft of what to do as the season developed. And his management of player fitness levels was atrocious likely leading to unnecessary injuries. All of these factors played into the the poor results against decent teams. Frankly we were flat track bullies at best.
All of those issues have been front and centre in these first two games. So mix that with an uninspiring pre-season attaining players who won't likely kick on going into the championship and not really solving issues in the squad and mix in the interview from the other day. Its easy to feel less than enthusiastic about him as manager.
At this point we've got enough evidence at his strengths and weaknesses and I don't think he's the right person going forwards. I think he could get us promoted eventually but I think in the process of it we will be set back quite significantly in our overall development and i think it will take a long time. Essentially I think it would cost a lot of the young talent at the club and we'd end up with a squad of aging journeymen. A squad in which we would find ourselves probably struggling to stay in the Championship especially given the lack of tactical and coaching acumen currently on display.
I said last year a view I'll reiterate. We need to look at things on the long term. We need to think how do we develop the club overall for sustainable success. How do we produce/acquire cheaply talent  and develop them so we aren't stuck at the whims of high fee spending to progress. How do we develop an identity and footballing ethos that allows the collective club to produce more than the sum of its parts.
If you look at my previous posts i think its evident im not trigger happy. But at certain point you've got to cut your losses. The evidence points to Warne not fitting the remit and if finances allow I think it's time to move on in the hopes that we can retain the likes of Bird and salvage the rest of the rest of the transfer window.

Archie Brown and Louie Sibley was the best two players in our U18 Premier League winning season. I was very disappointed when he moved on, obviously he had a better understanding of what was going on behind the scenes, so no hard feelings.
Such a good prospect. Glad to see him progressing well.

Usually the best players have a bit of a chip on their shoulders.
Im sure a good manager should be able to handle different characters in the team.

If that’s the criteria on discussing transfers on a forum then nobody apart from mystic BigTrav will have an opinion.

Every club misses out on targets that’s part and parcel. But if you’re telling me that we haven’t lost out on some good young talent to other league 1 clubs then sorry I’m not buying it. Without being arrogant at this level if we come in for a player we should be ‘winning the race’ more often than not.

If we haven’t lost out on any young targets then I’m questioning the recruitment team as to who they’re looking at.

It was impossible for Cocu to succeed here, especially in his second season as he was forced to play Rooney which was the equivalent of starting every game with 10 men. He was that unfit and slow, we were walked over. Throw in the fact he didn’t have Bielik and we had no strikers after Chris Martin left.
It was clear as day when Rooney was suspended for two games (Forest away and Cardiff at home), we drew both 1-1 but should have won both had it not been for woeful officiating or Waghorn missing sitters. We looked competent again.
It was never suggested Cocu would have gotten us promoted. But the work he had already put in place with our youngsters was impressive.

In terms of bad hands dealt to Derby managers you'd find it bloody difficult to find much worse than the ones dealt to Cocu, all things considered.

The thing with Cashin is, yes he's been struggling trying to do that wide-left-centre-back role, but (defensively at least) he's been struggling and still managing to get it done.  He's not been struggling and failing.  He's not made any disastrous errors, or directly cost us any goals, like other defenders have done.  He's doing the right things and that's letting him get away with it.
Long-term, his lack of height and pace will probably hold him back a bit, but you can learn to mitigate them to some degree.  I always go back to Gareth Roberts (the tiny left back we had for a while).  I know he wasn't the best player in the world or anything, but teams used to explicitly target his lack of height - they'd put a big forward out there and smash long balls at him all game. Except it never worked, because Roberts had been around the block enough to know when to drop off, when to get close to the guy, when to give the striker a nudge in the back and so on.  Cashin will learn those things too, and honestly, I think he's already well on the way.

3rd highest rated player in League 1 last season and comfortably highest rated centre back. Hasn’t got the passing range to be a midfielder but he is a really superb centre back and managed those performance with Forsyth playing RCB and Sibley playing LB which was as make shift as it gets…
