Maybe the press are wrong. Maybe, rather than “the press is agreed…..” they are all just getting their speculation from one single source rather than from their own individual sources.
I live in hope.

If we were not under an embargo, then we would almost certainly not have any of these players:
Curtis Davis
Phil Jagielka
Ravel Morrison
We would almost certainly not have seen:
Festy Ebosele
Louis Watson
Dylan Williams
Jack Stretton
And I don’t think we would have seen so much of Louis Sibley.
In a parallel universe, where we are not under an embargo we could quite easily have swapped them out for this lot.
Davis = Teden Meng
Jags = Matt Clarke
Ravel = Barry Bannon
Festy = George Edmonson
Dylan = Max Lowe
Jack = Sam Baldock (see what I mean!)
Louis Sibley = Sone Aluko
Pure conjecture but assuming we had I would say that would add up to a shed load of money for a marginal gain on what we have.

And add in that finances across football (outside the elite) are in a parlous state .. I honestly doubt there are that many contracts around above 10k / week. Despite all the high profile jabber. Most earning above that level will be on legacy contracts. I genuinely think there is going to be a delete and re boot that is much needed. It’s a combo of the pandemic and FFP/P + S ….. but it will happen
i think the biggest reason Derby wouldn’t be interesting is the current uncertainty re ownership and points deductions.

Ordinarily you might be correct about getting a good forward but when good professionals like Davies and Jagielka are prepared to play for low money for a manager they seem to respect with lads trying their hardest is a very good advert - there will be decent players who can help us willing to come in because some players play for the team, the club, the supporters, the atmosphere at games and don’t need that much money in their bank accounts. One example might be someone like Andy Carroll who could give us the last 15 mins in a game to help win us a decent amount of points.

This talk of 9 is softening us up for 6 so the Efl will look nice. Then we’ll agree 3 after an appeal. We will win on Saturday and all will be hunky dory. Elon Musk will then buy the club and offer Steve Gibson a one way ticketto Mars.

The EFL on Quest programme said that we were close to agreeing a sanction under regulation 85.
This is just the procedural regulation, but it states that..
- the EFL have to propose the sanction in writing with reasons
- we have 14 days to accept or go to a disciplinary panel
- if we don't respond then we default to a panel.
All these "negotiations" are outside of the regulations. Details can become public only when we reach the written letter stage.
So imo we're still in baseless speculation territory.

When there is actually an official announcement that is fact from someone please can the person breaking the news just start a new thread called EFL decision or something? Saw loads of new pages scrolled back through speculation and nothing

Despite some excellent opinion on the forum, we’re all reading the tea leaves.
The club should either be commenting ‘there is no final decision and we are still negotiating’ or ‘a formal decision will be announced shortly’ - or at the very least briefing Steve Nicholson to say ‘I understand no decision has been made’ or ‘a decision will be announced shortly’.
The social media driven news cycle means that an unsourced story from the Mail is repeated as truth by multiple outlets in the absence of any comment to disprove it.

We are back to making it up and speculating as if it's fact,which is completely pointless.
We are still in the position of having zero information to work with.....nothing has changed from last week/month/48 hours.

I was in a commercial negotiation once, for agreed financial damages between a supplier and an OEM in the automotive business .. It was a revelation … They’d all been on the same “negotiation course” .. It was the most tawdry posturing waffle I had ever seen between 2 parties who needed each other. They should have been trying to reach an equitable agreement but they both strutted. Some call that negotiation. It was a day of my life wasted .. The final agreement that eventually came could have been reached between them in 15 minutes with a bit of common sense and fair play. You simply can’t do that these days .. you have to play hard ball which is then reciprocated.
