Football fans and football owners are a strange breed, Fans care not a jot where the money is coming from Newcastle a great example, As long as their club are buying players, As long as they see a winning team, Then who gives a shyte, Owners for the life of me...why buy a football club, Newcastle(Saudi Arabia)is all about sport washing, Chelsea for £4.25 billion is just crazy, Burnley are having to pay most of one loan back to MSD of almost £65 million.
The breakfast club that posters were invited too were fed some what we now know as total BS, But I guess at the time some thought they were very privileged or even honoured to get the invite, I was not posting on this board at the time, Other boards posters were apoplectic as their invite must have been lost in the post.
I believe one or 2 of the invitees were very sceptical of his words, But the man who holds court in his own domain gets to call the shots, I was never suspicious of MM why should I be, He's a multi millionaire that's on record as saying he's been a DCFC fan for decades, Now Brailsford Ram has told us some home truths about this charlatan, Do I feel conned...no, Am I a little pi$$ed off...no, It's more of a roll back eyes ?and a...here we go again...why us?, The deeper posters dug the murkier it got, Journalists galore were writing about us, Some were big fibs, Some were close to the truth, The EFL were sent a get out of jail free card by MM, DCFC were going to pay for their part in the Sky TV deal, 2 clubs in Boro and Wycombe felt they were shat upon by DCFC, Where was the EFL when the brown stuff  hit the fan, Hiding under a table at the Stadium of Shyte, But eventually the house of cards all fell down because of one man who thought he had a magic want and wanted to be loved.
We now have a new owner in CK, A local business man has purchased Pride Park, This venture I like as the Stadium ATM will be in local ownership, As for the team/club, I'm looking forward to next season, Saturday 3pm kick offs, Very little exposure on Sky TV, Travelling to the back and beyond for some away games...all to watch a bag of wind being kicked about.
Yes football fans are a strange breed ?

At the moment it's hard to see who and how many players we need until we know who we manage to retain/offer new contracts together. Presuming we manage to keep the core of the squad together though, one of the first targets for me needs to be a CF and another wide man.

How anyone can still stand by what Mel Morris did is absolutely staggering. There is no a place dark enough on this planet for that man's soul to heal.
Truly one of the most repugnant human beings to ever walk this planet and this City is far worse off for having him steal oxygen here for far too long.

Well Tom Lawrence wasn’t a striker for us so this makes little difference in that regards, we needed a striker anyway as Plange has gone back to Palace and Kazim contract expired.
As for spending money, Chris Martin didn’t cost us anything, bagged a few goals in his time here.
We have to find the right player, could be a free, a loan where we cover the wages only or spend a little, it’s not a one option of must spend that Rooney has.

Celtic would be an incredible move for him if that is genuine interest. Whilst I would love him to stay, he would be a fool to turn down that opportunity.
He has the ability and the time left to go up there earn legendary status.
Plus the money would be better.

    Hi Kieran,
I do understand the point about whistleblowing - I don't think most Derby fans would relish attempts to gain an unfair advantage if it was prescribed in the rules (which of course neither charge was)
Unfortunately your actions set in place a domino effect which was exploited to the maximum by the EFL & Steve Gibson for their own personal interests - EFL to avoid legal action from Gibson and punish Morris & Gibson to engineer a pay out & get one over Morris. Not your intention I'm sure but the effects have been catastrophic.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but would you have handled it all differently knowing what you know now? And has it influenced your subsequent reporting of other clubs?

The mood around the club could have been much worse and if we’d have just given up halfway through the season, nobody would have looked forward to going to league 1.

Most supporters left after the last game of the season with high hopes and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Im pretty sure the other two relegated teams dont have the optimism we have and that’s down to the management team.

Wycombe earned promotion in 19/20 and were close to doing so again this season.
They have only ever paid a fee for a player 20 times in their entire history, with the last time being just over £100k in 10/11.
Rotherham are THE L1-Championship yo-yo team and even they rarely pay fees for players. Since we flogged Rowett off to Stoke, they've only paid for Crooks (£200k), Lindsay (£200k), Clarke (£100k), Ladapo (£500k) and Barlaser (£250k). They only paid that because they made almost £5m worth of player sales over that time.

Adding only frees and loans to a squad which would have ordinarily avoided relegation from the Championship, will be at risk of being relegated to League 2?
Paying fees is not a must. After all, we haven't paid a fee for any player since Summer 2020, yet would have avoided relegation from the Championship.
Who said we'd be giving multiple year contracts to players with only "a season in them"? Signing players younger than 32 on long contracts who won't be good enough for the Championship would also be senseless. Getting someone like Jagielka signed up for a year would be very good recruitment. It would mean we can sign a better and more long term player in when we return to the Championship.
Again, where do you get "35 year old striker" from?
35 year old winger McCleary scored 11 this season.
35 year old Cameron Jerome scored 13 in 20/21 (34 apps).
35 year old Joe Jacobsen scored 11 from LB in 19/20 (33 apps)
40 year old Akinfenwa score 10 in 19/20 (35 apps)
Can't be bothered to search further back than that.
Frees vs fees in the past few years, I know which list I'd pick.
Frees: Plange, Baldock, Stearman, Allsop, Jagielka, Ravel, te Wierik, Ibe, Marshall, Kazim, Shinnie, Rooney, Cole, Ambrose, Ledley
Fees: Jozwiak, Byrne, Bielik, Waghorn, Marriott, Jozefzoon, Holmes, Malone, Evans, Lawrence, Wisdom, Huddlestone, Jerome, Davies, Vydra, Anya, Nugent
Give me many more frees please!!!
I'll be very surprised if we're allowed to pay a fee to sign players this summer.
And they're still in League 1. That suggests they're no better than clubs who have never been in the Premier League

“Still claiming that PP is worth 81m, despite likely sale price much lower…”
If it wasn’t clear before, this bloke has always had a serious agenda against us.

81m is the fair value confirmed by independent valuers. There is no “claim”. It just is. It’s certainly with more than 20!
As for the sale being lower, that’s because all Morris wants to do is clear the debt written against it. Say what you like about him but he’s effectively giving the stadium to the club. That’s why he’s not asking for 81m.
It was Kieran Maguire who made all the noise after the EFL signed off our legal amortisation approach which kicked this whole thing off. Now he continues to stir things with charged phrasing like that. Nob head.

I firmly believe that we will be able to get a half decent squad together of freebies. There will be a lot of talent and players with good cvs available, not just 35 year olds will have been released.
Get this takeover sorted and start getting a list of targets finished.
Midtable will be achievable and look to get the club onto sound footings.
