    Just no.

Far too many have delusions of grandeur….we are where we are, with what we have because we deserve to be.  The structure of the CBT deal shows we still haven’t got options.

Bigger clubs than us spent longer in L1 with less constraints.

R@M reacted to Bob The Badger in Does Warne deserve the vitriol aimed at him?
If you look at Warne's record, it's actually not that bad.
Last season we came within a kippers dick of making the playoffs after what was possibly the most turbulent time in the club's history.
And last night, we could have gone top, and yet half the board would be happy to see the guy fired.
Does anybody ever remember that level of vitriol and animosity toward a manager who didn't have us struggling? And struggling badly.
Other than possibly Dave Mackay for a short period and entirely other reasons, I cannot remember anything like it.
For some while, I just thought it was Derby fans being entitled, but after conversations with @Eatonram, it seems like we're pretty bad every game and winning in spite of ourselves rather than because of ourselves.
I have to admit that I rarely get to see Derby play these days, so I base a lot of my opinions either on highlights or on what I read. As such, I accept that 90% of posters on this forum are better informed than me.
So, does he deserve all this piling on, or should we be sticking by him?

We have won 10 of 13 league games, and lost 1....and that was against a very good team who scored in the last minute.
Hardly surprising some fans get irritated by constant negative comments.
Financially we are on a sound footing, we are trying to make additions and we have a decent bunch of lads working their backsides off.
Yet at the first sign anything may be amiss the toys go out the pram.
We have a decent stadium and a fair amount of fans. But we are a League 1 club,  recruiting on a budget for League 1 players, playing against teams all just as desperate to get out this League. We have no divine right to walk over teams so how about a bit of realism at times instead of constantly looking for things to moan about and maybe there would be a bit more harmony.

I was wondering the same, thinking along the lines of a loss in the first 9 months as things were straightened out. There were then the sales of Knight and Bielik in the summer, sponsorship deals this year which we didn’t have previously, matchday revenue, season tickets etc etc….but the outgoings could also have gone up too.
I like the idea of the club being ran sustainably at the moment, sensible transfer investment within the club’s means like the rumoured fee for Blackett-Taylor, continuing focus on the academy, shrewder recruitment with a longer term view.
I fully embrace the idea the days of us spending big money on the back of the owner’s whims are a thing of the past. I know others might not feel the same.

This just cements DC’s hero status for me.
Of course the first few months out of admin  won’t be representative of the rest of his tenure and as @angieramsays there may be Bielek money etc in that loss.
However when you see someone running a successful, mid-size, profitable property company lurching into a business like football where it’s so difficult to turn a profit…….all for the sake of us…..you have to doff your cap.

I think some of the criticism he gets is harsh. He’s not the long term answer in midfield, but Bird and Hourihane can be equally if not sometimes more frustrating in the quality v consistency stakes.
I do think he will find it hard to get back into the team, simply because we can’t afford to have players playing their way into form or fitness at this stage of the season.
However I get the sense he’s a really good pro though and that is important. He really stepped up to the plate and was very reliable playing at right back last season.
From videos and clips on our social media channels, you also get the feeling he’s a good character and good to have in the dressing room and around the club.
If he moves on be it in January or the summer, he should go with our well wishes.

    R@M reacted to Ram@Lincoln in Conor Washington - signed on a two-year-deal
The facts are we signed an aging striker on a free from a struggling Championship club. Unless a miracle happened, ala McGoldrick, which you can never rely on, he was always going to be a squad filler as we look to sign a young high potential player.
So far this season, he's had 14 league appearances of which 6 starts, averaging 35 minutes per appearance. He's got 3 goals and 2 assists. We have 20 games left, let's say he's fit enough for half of them, scores another couple of goals, maybe another couple assists. He could achieve 9-10 goal contributions in 25ish games. For a squad filler, on a free transfer, that's decent enough business for me.
Is it the future? No. Does it do a adequate enough job for us now as a squad/bench player? Yes for me.

You're probably right, however I like to remember footballers are human beings and don't like to insult them unnecessarily.
This isn't 1972 where we're the best club in the country, this is 2023 where we're in the 3rd tier after exiting admin and aren't financially loaded. Any player that comes here and genuinely grafts has my respect, gone are the days of giving out huge contracts with players like Anya simply here to pick up a wage.
Washington, from what i've seen, tries hard and does his best. I'm not going to sit here and write flippant comments that completely dismiss him when he's had a respectable career in the game and is currently contributing to a squad trying to get us promoted. Just don't think he's done anything here to warrant being called 'nothing' or 'mediocre'...

I have literally signed back into my account for the first time in 5 years or so to tell you this is wrong, thus emphasizing how ridiculous the rest of this post is.

St Ives town are based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, which you might have realised had you not been so desperate to slag him off.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Ives_Town_F.C.

His last season in League 1 was 2021/22 season, so a couple of seasons ago where he scored 11 in 35 which is respectable enough (Collins scored 11 in 42 last season) for someone we signed on a free.

If he was a goal machine he would either be playing at a higher level or command a fee that we are currently unable to afford. Besides goals, he has a good work rate and has contributed to the teams success (when fit) in other ways that Opta and x.G don't/can't quantify.

A decent chunk of our fan base (and I guess football fans in general) have such a reductive view on attacking players' attributes which rarely extends past their ability to score or create goals. This is rightly the best metric when comparing the best players in the world, which I will concede Washington is not, but he brings other qualities to the team which are of value and contribute to our success - along with chipping in with the odd goal here and there.
So far this season he has registered 3 goals and 2 assists in 13 league games (497 mins) which equates roughly to a goal contribution every 100 minutes, which I will gladly accept for someone we signed for nothing.

Maybe just don't resort to referring to him using insulting terms such as 'nothing player'... Nobody is asking you to be happy with who we sign, and you're entitled to criticism, but flippant, reductionist phrases like that are always going to wind people up. He's had a decent career, primarily playing in the second tier of English football. However you dress it up, he isn't a ''nothing player''; use your words better.

    Where does this come from?

Savage rubbed people up the wrong way but to reduce a player who spent a career as long as he did at the top level to running around a lot. Easily more technically gifted than anyone else in our side when Clough brought him back in from The cold.

    Dear All,
Thank you for the kind comments about our very active West Country Supporters Branch under the thread ‘Hereford Rams’ recently! In our 30th Anniversary Year we are trying to re-connect with many of the fans who have used the West Country Branch over the years and who we have lost touch with. Our members cover, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Somerset, Glos,Herefordshire, Worcs, Oxfordshire and parts of the West Midlands.

We are already well known by many of you on here. I have been a Season a ticket holder since 1980/1 and set up dcscwcb in 1994 also taking on the role of the first independent Chair of the Derby County National Supporters Clubs in November 1995 for 1 year.
Currently dcscwcb organises subsidised (we have a long running lottery which supppirts this) travel for Rams fans for every 1st Team League match at Pride Park as well as producing a newsletter ‘West Country Ram’. Anyone interested in full details please pm me!

We are a family orientated Group with a strict no alcohol on coach policy, but have a great day out with fans across the West Country/South West using us on a results basis or just occasionally to break the monotony of long distance trips to Pride Park. We recognise that our Group and the format of our trip (with stopping en route and encouraging family groups) is not for everyone but it has worked well for us over the years.
We ask that fans using the coach more than once sign up to Branch Memebership which costs from as little as £10.00.
Although we have around 250 active members across the Region we do not organise away coaches but wherever possible arrange ‘meet ups’ before Away games- the next one being Exeter City on Tuesday 13 February which already has great support from fans in and around Devon.
Get in touch by pm or email derbycountytravel@gmail.com and I will send you full details.
Finally, we often get asked if we will arrange travel from further South. If numbers justified it, we would certainly consider running from Cheltenham/Gloucester. Please let any Rams fans in the West Country/South West know about us!
Happy New Year to all DCFCFANS! COYR!

I won’t lie I hated the way some on here reacted to our slow start. The moaning criticism of our manager from everything to his ability to manage our “bigger club” to the way he talks his interviews his hats his sense of humour was appalling. It became clear and still s from tne underlying resentment about the recent upturn in form that some ( so called ) supporters became so invested in Warne failing that they started to relish a bad result.

We are playing some good stuff at the minute and are in good form, but that doesn't suddenly mean that the first half of the season didn't happen.
Perhaps i'm just somewhat pessimistic but I can't help but feel like we've been here before with this club at this point of the season. It's usually followed by a sub-par January window and then...the dip...
    Let's hope we've learnt our lesson(s).
Also; on Warne himself - glad the team, and therefore he, is doing well, but there's just something about his Brentian interviews, his constant digs at supporters and his general communication style that just rubs me the wrong way. Sorry!

I get JCH ripped up the record books a while back but is it the same player?
Remember Collins has a superb league 1 record too historically but some aren’t happy with him currently.

R@M reacted to Day in Atmosphere at Pride Park
And if it is the football….the Etihad is not exactly known for the best atmosphere in the Premier League, whilst widely regarded as playing the best football.
I think expectations play a huge part, Man City fans expect to roll teams over, likewise being top 6 in League 1 for us is expected. We’re not doing anything “special”.
If we were steamrolling and 15pts clear at the top, with the same football being played, things might be slightly better.
Looking back at the McClaren era, we went from mid table wilderness to f’in hell, we’re going up here and it was out of nowhere. It was exciting, we never expected that to happen.
Under Rooney, the world was against us, we didn’t roll over and accept it was over, the team fought and gave us a glimmer of hope, that got the fans more vocal.
I think using Warne and his football is a poor excuse in all honesty.
