Perhaps an important line of questioning for the next Supporters Group meeting @angieram? Some clarity on the future plans for the academy and the pathways to the first team? Apologies if that’s already been asked.

I am losing the will to live, can we just get behind the team and Warne through until the end of the season. Or is that too much to ask 😥

Not sure what this post is for. The BBG was probably in the bottom 20 grounds but that didn’t matter one iota to those who went there - a club is defined by the devotion and fervour of its' following, not the architectural status of its' home.

Not concerned about pride park at the moment. It's a nice stadium and still a top 15 stadium in England which is pretty good considering we've been out of the top flight for the best part of two decades.
Derby has potential no doubt and there is room for expansion and improvement at pride park but ultimately nothing will change until we are back competing in the premier League where the club should be.

I really don't understand the point of this thread or even what it's trying to get at.

We could get one. It was only the beginning of this season we didn't have a squad capable of competing in league 1! Let's get there.

From fairly recent experience we had Hull in our pockets for 3 and a half games, but one mad half sent them to Wembley and likewise the dirties had us in their pockets for 3 and a half games before that great come back, which sent us to Wembley.

Have you seen our form compared to Peterborough? There’s your answer. We’re not getting the results we need to, and have a much tougher run-in. We’ve consistently proven under Paul Warne that we cannot compete with top half teams.

Another scenario is we go up, get battered week in week out and get relegated back to league one which could result in us yo-yo-ing between the two.
My view isn’t that another season in this league is “best for us”, just that it isn’t necessarily the worst case scenario some suggest either. There are pros and cons to both situations.
Promotion this season - increased revenue in the championship, potential to retain better players, potential to attract better players. We COULD do fine and stay up at the first attempt, or we COULD struggle to compete with others due to the ongoing restrictions and be relegated.
Miss out on promotion this season - We might lose some of our better players, we’ll potentially still be able to attract decent free transfers with the wages and facilities we can offer, Warne gets chance to build a more balanced team and we COULD go up next season carrying momentum into the championship at which point it’s guaranteed the business plan/restrictions will end. We COULD also miss out and be stuck in league one for longer as you suggest, but again with restrictions lifted we’d then be able to recruit far more competitively to get promoted at the third attempt.
The bit I struggle to reconcile with my own views versus other people’s is the apparent urgency some feel to be promoted and the implied short term thinking that is coming from some areas of the fan base with regards to the management team. What would be so terrible about staying in this league compared to being promoted? I want to watch Derby County play football matches and ideally win more than they lose, if that is in league one, the championship or the premier league it’s essentially the same expectation I’ll always have, just that the surroundings and standard of the opposition might change which could then affect our ability to win those games. I won’t lose the opportunity to support the club if we stay down, anymore than I will if we get promoted, so any scenario will work for me once I’ve dealt with the associated emotions of being promoted or missing out, the summer will happen, players will come and go, the club and our support will remain regardless of league, that’s the great thing for me as we so nearly lost that.

Last time I checked, the season ended in May so it's a tad premature for a start. Secondly, I'd expect Warne to get a second season where he has a larger squad and a few more players that suit his style. If folk really need to criticise the owner, they might have the respect to actually wait to see how his plans play out rather than diving in at the first opportunity for a moan.

I didn’t want LR to go but that doesn’t mean I was against the PW appointment.  It was quite telling that LR was only ever interim manager but reading the interview with DC in the Marketing Derby magazine it was clear he wanted something different.
This will be unpopular but sometimes you have to move slower to move quicker.  It’s always going to be difficult while we can’t pay fees, even loan fees.  PW needs at least 1 summer window.  While we can choose from a better selection of free agents, and we can probably pay a bit more in wages than other L1 clubs, it’s still difficult to get players in their prime, which is what we need.  As we’re getting “free” loans we’re probably not getting the best loans available to L1 teams.  The likes of Dobbin, Springett, etc get criticism but their parent clubs have let them go on loan to L1 for no fee and whilst probably paying a fair chunk of their wages.  Other clubs in this league don’t have these challenges, particularly the first one, and will therefore attract better loans.
The actions of one man have set this club back at least 5 - 10 years.  Prior to him we were a sustainable club, with a good squad, a good management structure, a good scouting network and an academy that was beginning to produce.  This isn’t meant to be an “I’m so glad we have a club” post but effect of administration is a reality and the effects are wide ranging and long lasting.  PW didn’t walk into the club like any other manager at any other club.  All the key roles needed to be filled, a scouting network rebuilt and moral rebuilding.  The academy was completely decimated to extent that the age groups have had to bolstered with loan signings.  We really had next to nothing.  We’ve had too much change at too much cost.  Let’s give PW the time to build the club over a long period of time.

    u know its relevant
im Not saying they should be happy but for once they should exercise patience and let the club start to walk unrestricted having just got itself out of critical care having been at deaths door at the start of this season
2 weeks before a competitive ball was going to be kicked we found out we still have a club to support.
We picked up what was left in the transfer market that other clubs passed up on.
this is a free hit of a season. For once can derby county fans give a manager something of a reasonable window of opportunity to fashion a squad before we start calling for him to go.
Half The reason we find  ourselves in this god forsaken position is our constant demand for instant results and performances.
thank god social media wasnt about when brian clough was appointed hey lol

Me too. I have to say I like him a lot more than Rooney. The Circus is over now. Funny, but I can’t remember many complaints when we lost 10 away games on the bounce, or when Ryan Allsopp pumped 40 balls in to the corner flag each game. Is Warne thought less of because he wasn’t a famous player?

So basically you are saying that after buying the club the first and most important decision Clowes made - which was appointing a manager - he fudged up.
If that's not a criticism of Clowes then we live on different planets.

I like Warne. He is honest as the day is long, says as he sees it etc. I believe he will be a success in the long term once he gets his own players in. But for all those who want him replaced….. we can’t afford the cost of the the payouts required … would blow the business plan out of the the water I believe .
So get used to it … he’s here to stay. You might even want to start supporting the Owner, Manager and Team rather than sniping all the time
