His whole Derby career has been a farce. the ridiculous circus when we signed him, the forgettable performances on the pitch and a shocking stint as a manager. It's amazing what a shambles we've become in the last 6 years. Even Frank Lampard seemed an immature choice at the time, but he's a significantly more charismatic figure and we managed to scrape a decent enough season together, probably owed largely to Jody Morris.

(disclaimer. I typed Jody Marsh first, and said "wait that doesnt sound right").

The win records of our recent managers is doing the rounds again and is as painful as ever. Rooney needs to go asap. I don't buy for a second that these players aren't good enough - we certainly don't have the best squad in the league, but a decent manager can have them pick themselves up, show a bit of belief, dig in and get us points on the board.

Alan Pardew took Crystal Palace on an FA cup adventure and took the toon to 5th in the PL as well!

    Wouldn’t want McInnes anywhere near!

If there has ever been a nobrainer time to sack a manager it’s now.
    It just makes perfect sense.
What is the benefit of not doing it?

Sorry Wayne, your time is up.
Mac III, IIII, VI I don't care which version we call on, just get it done.
3 games to go, one experienced manager on the payroll, no point him sitting in the stands watching the useless spud-headed Scouser take us down.

The sky sports article on Alonso was helpful.
However, I now turn my attention to Rooney.
Rooney is a big name, he might well help attract talent to Derby.
Rooney doesn't have his fa coaching badge.
Rooney while fielding a weak team and not being able to strengthen it effectively has except with loan players, most of whom were probably the best he could get at the time with team facing potential relegation.
Do I trust Rooney to strengthen the team with enough talent to promote the club.
Do I trust Rooney to stop making tactical blunders, because in my opinion he's picked the wrong tactics several times and cost Derby the match.
At present I'm thinking Rooney would make a good assistant manager but he's not the finished article ready to take Derby through a promotion challenge.
He doesn't look to me like someone who can mastermind enough wins.
This season the teams largely been to weak to be a threat at the championship level.
Next season the newly demoted teams with their parachute payments will be in the strongest position to win promotion.
There are a number of more tactically astute managers than Rooney in the championship already.
Derby need a manager who knows how to win promotion to the Premier league.
    Can Rooney achieve that.
Its a gamble for Alonso to say he puts his trust in Rooney
I know these things have been said already.
I'm just revoicing the thoughts of others

Pissed that we couldn't get him,  we are toothless as hell going forward and no strikers brought in and only linked with crappy Austin,  what a long and depressing season we have ahead of us YAY COYR ???????

There is zero point in spending over 1 million for Dursun when we can just get him on a free come January! Get Austin on loan, then go for Dursun for next year!

Steve McLaren is a coach at best. Took Clough’s team that took 3 years to build, made some minor amendments and reaped the rewards. Look at his time at QPR and with us the second time. I remember watching us play Brighton away and he was on the touchline laughing with C Hughton, whilst 3-0 down! Absolutely appalling, I can’t believe there’s a thread about him again!

Mac 3... clearly some of our fans know nothing. I guarantee if he came in now we would not just click like last time because the foundations are not there. Clough  took years to build that that team and it irritates me that Mac gets so much credit for it. Yes he did a great job tinkering with tactics, spotting what Clough perhaps didn’t, but the bottom line is that it was not his team.

How can Keogh have a case when he is unfit for work and unwilling to take a pay cut. If it happened to me and I took that stance, my boss would tell me to f##ck right off to the job centre.

    Of course they will.
But you can't compare Keogh to Lawrence and Bennett.
He can't fulfill his contract. Secondly he had the added responsibility of being captain, which clearly the club hold such a position in high regard.

Why honor his contract when he's on 25k a week and won't kick a ball for the club again Its literally throwing money in the bin. He's had the opportunity to take a pay cut and embarrassed himself further by spitting in the face of the club. Its alright looking at the others but Mel has to look after the club.

This is going to get me a lot of stick but I feel the club have massively cokked up here. I for one was hoping our rich will stay and one day manage us. As a young CB at school vidic and keogh were my idols. Vidic was my idol as a cb with his willing to put his body on the line. And keogh was my idol from pure sportsmanship ability and passion and everything. He was the first name I got on the back of my shirt. My favourite ever Derby player. Not the most gifted or anything but a true grafter and a lovely guy. I’m heartbroken by the news. The club need to think about getting him back either that be as a player or a coach because he is invaluable to this club

I absolutely side with the club on this. The inexcusable incident that happened is embarrassing enough for Keogh, nevermind refusing a pay cut. He could have had a year repenting for his actions, but now it's just going to end in a big mess.

The club are perfectly correct in this decision and I fully support them.
These modern players are living in cuckoo land.
If Keogh had anything about him he would show some humility and be doing everything he could to repair the damage he has done to the club.
Refusing to take a pay cut instead of begging for forgiveness makes me think he'd be better suited to the House of Commons than Pride Park.
If he has been on £25,000 a week for the past few years he should be set up for life and if he isn't, well that's his fault. Either way, if it was me, I would be doing anything to restore my own & the clubs reputation, including working for nothing, if necessary.
We all make mistakes and believe you me, I've made plenty, but it's how you right the wrongs and learn from them that matters.
These players need to understand how privileged they are and start behaving accordingly.
No sympathy for the bloke at all now. Good riddance.

    unpopular opinion I’m sure, however;
Do we really want him as a mentor for our younger players? he didn’t appear to have an issue with members of our playing squad getting so intoxicated on a weeknight they were spewing in a toilet whilst other members of the squad happily filmed it. He also didn’t have an issue getting into the vehicle of a clearly intoxicated colleague so they could carry on their night.
Is that role model and leadership material?
He (although not directly) has caused untold reputational damage to our club, we were dragged through various national media outlets and the actions of our “captain” and other players have caused significant issues for their employers.
in any other profession, Bennett, Lawrence, Keogh and anyone else involved would be sacked under Gross Misconduct.

that man should be nowhere near our young players as a role model and “leader”
