Can we please stop scrutinising Warne! Look at it this way. David Clowes has put faith in Warne to get us up and given him a big contract. He’s had his hands tied this year and will in the summer. Let’s get behind the team and Warne, instead of finding fault at every available opportunity.

A lot of talk re “burn out” but look at Leeds under Bielsa and Huddersfield under Coberan, both high pressing, high intensity teams. I’d love Derby to become a team in that bracket, so let’s trust Warne to get them 23-27 year old in over summer!

Warne has been operating under very different and difficult circumstances to the top six teams we are competing with. The players look tired and some who were so reliable earlier on are out of form. We have a tiny squad so very little room for change game by game except shuffling around the deckchairs. He has inherited a squad that's not his and in the large doesn't suit what he wants to do (3 at the back, high intensity etc).
BUT! His in-game management seems poor, he appears slow to react to situations and change things up (formation, style of play, attitude) when other teams step it up or make changes.
Time to judge him is at the end of next season, when he's had a pre-season, more of his own team regards players he wants and more time to put a footprint on it.
We might still go up this season by the way, just in case anyone has forgotten we are still in the play off positions.

Subs on far too late for me! The game was obviously a difficult one to navigate and some fresh faces would have helped early in the 2nd half!!

Zahore contract terminated at WBA, wouldn’t be a bad shout on a short term deal. Was unplayable at times for Cardiff!

Much rather we go for someone like Kenneth Zahore. Not wanted by West Brom, know Mendez-Laing well, and 28 years old. If we can get him to rekindle his Cardiff form then we could be into a winner!

I think this would be a masterstroke. Proper player at Champ level, could be outstanding in a good L1 side.

It does definitely sound like a player who's in the position like Hugill in which they are out of contract in 6 months and the club he's at is happy for him to leave.
Collins had a year left at Cardiff and they agreed to let him leave so he could sign for us.
Honestly I know the 3 other teams apparently in for him are in the championship. But it shouldn't be hard to sell us as a club over any of the other 3.
Birmingham and Rotherham are 18th and 19th in the Championship. So both in a relegation battle.
Reading can't sign anyone. They've got a 25 man squad so cannot sign anyone unless someone is sold. Then whoever signs needs to come in on the wages that are freed up.
Also why would you want go go to Reading. One of the most irrelevant football clubs on earth.
Or come here under Warne on a promotion push infront of 25-30k fans and sold out away ends every week.

Hugill would be a good signing at this level, extremely accomplished striker who has the physical attributes to thrive - especially in a good team at this level.
I think it would be a good move for him to join a team where he can put together a run of games and score some goals. He's stagnated a little in the Championship, hopefully we can sell that aspect to him.

Waghorn ticks a lot of boxes. 3rd choice CF (as per Nugent in the Lampard season), and gives us an extra option on the wing. He also knows the club and a number of people still here so would settle very quickly.
Jordan Hugill would offer strong competition for the CF spot, but we'd still need someone on the wing. Probably short on fitness and would take a while to get up to speed.
Dilan Markanday (wimger at Blackburn) hasn't played in the league yet this season, but scored 2 in the Cup. Scored 12 in 14 for Spurs U21s in 21/22 before moving to Blackburn.

Got to commend Warne for making us a stubborn side who are difficult to beat, but the we severely lack guile further up the pitch. Barkhausen has to do more for me as does Hourihane, and Bird. We are on the right track, and hopefully getting a lb and Rb will enable us to get Sibley further up the pitch!

deanoakaram4life reacted to HuddersRam in Derby Book Fest Event | In Conversation with Graham Richards and Colin Gibson
    Hey all,
As some might know, I've put together a couple of books about Derby in the past couple of years, in Pride and Groundwork. Okay, that's the awkward bit out the way.
Just piping up as it might be of interest to some, Derby Book Festival are running a series of talks over the course of this month, and a bit alarmingly they've asked me to do one. But essentially, I wanted to make it more interesting to Derby fans and so I'm pretty excited to say that I've got a couple of very prestigious guests to join me up on stage.
Commentary titan Graham Richards will be making what I think is his first live Q&A appearance since his BBC Radio Derby days, alongside another Derby media giant in the form of Colin Gibson. It should be a really nice nostalgia trip of an evening, going primarily through the Jim Smith years but also delving back to Graham and Colin's time under, well, an absolute host of managers through the years. Had a chat with Graham last week on it, and he's still in absolute top form. There may also be a couple of surprise guests as well from life on the BBG pitch, but I'm just waiting to confirm on those.
In case it's of interest, tickets and info about the evening on 30th November can be found: bit.ly/3UdV76h.
There'll also be a few of the aforementioned books around as well to buy/steal (there won't be security on the doors tbf), so you can probably get Graham to sign them and give them out as Christmas presents. There's also free parking. Might also be beer as well. Have I sold it yet? Any questions just let me know, but hopefully it should be a good evening!
