Yes I thought games like beating Real Madrid 4-1 would be every week.

Yes but we can't keep wheeling that out as an excuse. The performances and tactics are not good enough for the personnel we do have. It's related sure but it doesn't absolve us of the issues on the pitch at the moment. We should be doing better with what little we do have.

Unfortunately we have a League 1 manager, even if he's gained promotion from it - relegation followed immediately.
There are plenty of managers in the leagues above and in other countries leagues who have never succeeded at League 1 level, but I'll settle for someone who has better ideas and is more able to realise ambitions! #COYR

I read his comments saying if our home form this season was anything like last season, then losing away to Shrewsbury, would not be a disaster. Losing any time away to Shrewsbury is a disaster that just shows the bloke he’s not up for that job. For a club our size that is not acceptable.

In his interview after the Shrewsbury match. He said something is missing if I remember rightly he said the same thing last season on several occasions,if he still hasn’t worked it out how long are we expected to wait for him to work it out?

Forget the purse strings this squad should be going better than they are. How a midfield containing the likes of Bird, Hourinane and Smith are not dominating games is beyond belief

Chellaston Ram reacted to AndyB in Will Clowes patience soon run out?
Sorry for the long post, I don’t post a lot but felt the need to add my feelings to this debate.
I have been patient and many of the group I go to home games with called Warne out a long time ago, one or two didn’t want him when he was appointed and saw him as a huge step down from Rosenior. I wanted Warne ahead of Rosenior to get out of League One whereas others were looking at the development of the club as a whole.
initially Warne looked a good appointment to me, we started to score, and win, away, went on a good run and even briefly looked like we could trouble the top two. But we fell away disappointingly at the end and not to make the play offs was poor.
I wanted to give Warne, and Clowes, time and let Warne build his own team. The anti Warnes in our group see his recruitment as terrible and our best players as the players that were here before Warne arrived. I think some of that is harsh, I like Nelson, Nyambe, Wilson and Fornah and can see why he signed Bradley and Ward.
But his big issue, as he talks about himself endlessly, is scoring goals. He said this week that the top teams in League One have the best strikers. He talks about improving our finishing. This is where his words and actions don’t match for me. Clearly our results last season were built on McGoldrick’s goals. He hasn’t been replaced. Warne has signed Washington and Waghorn. Neither are going to score enough goals for me. Collins has already proved he won’t. John-Jules is injured and unproven. We are unlikely to be able to solve this in January.
In my view Warne sets up the game randomly with chances at both ends, therefore it is unsurprising to me, with this squad, that our results are mixed. We will get good and bad results on small margins, something Warne says a lot himself. Doing this he will only succeed with one of the best strikers in League One and this season we don’t have one.
In conclusion, and I hate to do it, I too am joining the Warne out brigade. I have despaired at our changing managers far too regularly in recent years and wanted to give Warne as long as he needed to get it right. But we are in League One. Our worst ever seasons are 7th in the third tier, twice, one was last season. We’re currently looking like we’re not getting promotion, certainly not automatically.
My choice now would be a manager who can organise this squad into a team that can defend properly, control games and get clean sheets. We aren’t going to score a hatful of goals consistently so I believe this is our best chance of promotion this season.
I really hope the fans don’t turn on Clowes, he has lots of credit in the bank for me and is allowed to make a mistake without getting vilified for it. I just hope he sees the current issues early enough so we can still have a shot at promotion this season as the league looks weak to me and it may be our best opportunity to get out of it for some years.

I had such high hopes for the bloke. Great record in this division, couldn't take Rotherham any further I assumed due to budgets. Let's see what he can do at a big club. And I think now we've all seen what he is capable of. Nothing.
The bloke hasn't grasped the size of the job at all. Did he really think hitting the ball wide as early as possible and smashing crosses into the box was going go down well with supporters? The good managers evolve their ideas over time. He is expecting really technical footballers to become athletes who can run half a marathon and bulldoze the opposition on the break. No wonder tactically we are all over the place.
This squad is top 6 easily, any half decent manager could at least be competitive. We have the biggest wage budget in the league. And what this manager has produced is nothing short of something I'd expect on a Sunday morning on Alvaston Park. Pathetic, amateur standard of football where crossing the ball gets clapped at like seals on our bench. Bottom half league one teams can easily figure out our game plan within 5 minutes. We've got all these quality midfielders and we still insist on avoiding them at all costs when we attack. It is painful to watch. Is this really the best this squad has to give?
I'm done with it. I was so excited to see what he could do with a summer and implement a plan to fire us up the league. Currently, we're firing into the midtable wasteland. It is embarrassing. He's got all these resources at his disposal and quite frankly, he's a rabbit in the headlights facing an inevitable doom.
Lovely man I'm sure. But a football manager who has a clear glass ceiling and has demonstrated he cannot take his work to the next level.

I am cool with him mate. He just keeps on asking me about when my first game that I attended was. I don't understand his (if that is his preferred pronoun) wanting to know this information. It has nothing to do with the topic in hand.

    It’s an accumulation of things
    Unattractive football
The size of our club being stuck in League 1
Our rivals doing alot better than us
No real success for god knows how many years
The recent demise of our club through no fault of the fans

No they are not. Our current crop could tear most of this league up - nit perhaps to the level thar Ipswich and Plymouth did, but our knock on the door of automatics could be pretty loud. But it is not. Because what our current crop have to offer is being wasted. As has already been pointed out, even James Maddison and Phil Foden would look like journeyman in this team because we play the ball so wide that we are in danger of each pass giving a throw-in away.
That is the frustration - that we are capable of so much more. I am not advocating his return because he too is a one trick pony who is easily found out, but Steve MaClaren would get this team on a great winning run because he finds the team’s strengths and plays to them.
