therealhantsram got a reaction from Rev in The UEFA European Championship 2020 Thread
For me, there are certain things, common values that bind us together as a nation. Those things include honesty, integrity, tolerence, respect and a sense of fair play.
As I see it, Mings is standing up for those values - the essence of Englishness - and calling out those who don't.
He's a rich young man who doesn't need to do that. He could keep quiet, go home to his mansion and live a luxury life. But instead he's using his current celebrity for the benefit of us all, knowing he'll get a tirade of abuse for doing that - online, and at every football match he plays from now on.
Today he's standing up my values and for every English person who shares those values too.
And that's what makes me feel proud.

But "that is how free speech works" - so you should be supporting him! Because you support free speech.
Must be so confusing to be you right now

Tyrone Mings has made me feel proud to be English today.
Haven't felt I could say that in quite some time.

Charging to 80% and then trickle charging the rest exponentially increases the life of a battery. More recent mobile phones do the same thing.

Always backed Southgate. I never understood why people thought he was a bad manager.

Light at the end of the tunell?
For the last 5 or so weeks, since Delta variant took hold, infections have been rising at about 70% a week. But over the past week that figure has been dropping day by day.
Today the figure is 30% week on week growth.
So infections are still increasing, but at about half the rate they were last week.
Maybe, just maybe, the vaccination rate is getting to the point where the virus is struggling to find new people to infect.
Fingers crossed we are in the end game.

Top player domestically. Vital member of that great Ipswich side. They played such lovely football.
Not quite up to it at England level. We really struggled for international level strikers until Linekar came along in the 86.
68 though. What a shame.

You may be right but, if we always adopted the mantra of “careful what you wish for” nothing would even change, regardless of how broken the current situation is, through fear that the new order might be worse or, at best, no better than the existing. You could say the same about the takeover. Who’s to say whoever comes in will not make things worse?

The questionnaire was stuffed full of leading questions, almost certainly designed to get support for what they're inclined to do.
I would say, a new regulator is just as likely to be an incompetent quango, so we should be careful what we wish for!
I liked the idea of a compulsory regulation clause in player contracts, as an alternative to parachute payments.
I said that I think that football player salaries are obscene!
