Wolfie20 reacted to Alty_Ram in Corey Blackett-Taylor - Signed on Loan/Permanent in Summer
Well, true ! But obvs I meant in the sense that he seems like he'd be able to play high intensity football once he'd understood what Warne needs from him to help the team. He seems to be getting there now and hopefully the timing will help us get over the line. We can't win every game by simply outplaying the opposition so we need players who can win games with a moment of trickery. We don't have an enormous number of those so we don't want it all to be just about NML or Wilson. The more potential headaches the opposition have, the better really.

No doubt if we do get promotion you'll be saying it's despite Warne rather than because of.
Just can't help yourself- pathetic!

My bad Wolfie. Apologies.

My comment wasn't a dig at this poster - more at a few who reckon Warne only wants individuals who can run rather than signing more 'gifted' players which the signing of CBT would seem to disprove.

That would have more respect had you said "He needs time" or "Hope he improves".
To come out with a "Get shot" kind of negates any present underlining of your point. 🙄

Its because there are no foundations. Warne just takes every game as it comes and tries to ground out a result by any means. It is working most of the time, but I'm never truly that shocked whenever we lose a game to anyone. It feels like Warne picks one-off tactics for each opponent and hopes they work, but occasionally they don't or the opponent works them out in-game and we lose. There's no longevity or continuity to anything he's implementing.

Where from? The only source I've seen saying that is our very own @Millenniumram who claimed that not only was he out for the season, but that he'd played his last game for the club. I own underpants more ITK than him though.

Can't agree with the last sentence. It's got to be in his interest to be part of a successful, promotion-winning side and a potentially significant increased salary offer if Derby want him to re-sign. Wouldn't this mean any competing clubs having to start their opening offers at a higher level?

Not a huge fan of Eric Steele (at least not todays' version) but he made an interesting point on RD after the Blackpool match. Wingers like CBT who can just as easily go inside or out when attacking the defender, doesn't need a supporting player behind him to take a pass, otherwise it nullifies his threat if the ball then goes backwards. This would mean that a midfielder can take a somewhat more defensive position should the attacking move breaks down.
Might be some merit in his point of view.

They looked happy to settle for a point, I think their manager even said that, and so did we.
We play better football with a back four, will Warne stick with it though?

I'm not sure its that unfair to judge Warne on his Rotherham exploits in the Championship, its a relevant concern. Ignoring it is a bit of wanting your cake and eating it for starters because he was judged on his ability to get Rotherham out of this league in the first instance. If you don't think one is relevant then nor is the other. Matt Taylor came in early doors last season after Warne came here and he kept them up which Warne hadn't managed to achieve. Would Warne have kept them up? We'll never know. Reality is the current side we have here considering we know Max Bird is gone for starters and others could follow given the contract situation, there could be significant turnover of the squad. Its going to be a very difficult season and we're being very naïve to think otherwise. Obviously we need to get promoted first which last night and the weekend have left us in a very good position to achieve.

In the game I saw we scored 2 goals and created nothing else of note in 90 minutes.
Portsmouth on top of their 2 goals missed an open goal, had a 1v1 saved by Wildsmith's legs and the penalty incident at the end. Calling the above an even game and a fair draw is a bit of a stretch.
