A can of Carling.

When I was a kid, I utterly adored steak and kidney pudding, but I always viewed it as a two-edged sword - a wonderful treat and, equally, a harbinger of doom. My dad used to make them very rarely - usually to cheer me up or to use as a distraction when there was bad news. I recall that when my mum was seriously ill in hospital in Kluang, Malaya with typhoid and she wasn't expected to pull through, the pud made an appearance. Similarly, when my grandad died, that was the dinner. The ultimate 'giving comfort' food, as far as I was concerned.
Now, as an old man, I still love them, and a trip to Blackpool is not complete without pudding and chips with gravy - especially Hollands.
Today, for the first time ever, I made my own, and I was pretty pleased* with the result.
 
 
*Actually, I was delighted.

If we haven’t breached (which would be a great outcome for us) it will mean we’ve had to endure 2 years of absolute dross for nothing. The club has been pushed to the brink of oblivion because of an accountancy method. I’ve never been more disinterested with football than I am now, some clubs signing players for £100m+, players earning £50m a year yet all we want is a couple more frees to bolster our threadbare squad, football is dead.

I'm still not yet in the out camp, although I have seen nothing in the last 20 games to make me think that he is a good manager (blind faith I'm afraid), but there really are too many mitigating circumstances. We have a squad of 23 players, no more incoming until there are departures. Those 23 players would probably get into most team's squads in this division. The problem is that very few of those 23 would get in hardly any first 11s.

I'd rather Mel spent 100% of his efforts in sorting out the mess with the EFL and selling the club, than got sidetracked sacking managers.
What happened to getting behind the players and staff until that happens?

I thought we all understood that the squad and management were up against it and it was time for better or worse to stick with them? Didn't last long did it. 

So this weeks news is Meikles first physiotherapy appointment, where a nice lady drove up from Portsmouth yesterday. 
We're not much further forward unfortunately. Her diagnosis was that some unspecified underlying problem with his hips has caused significant muscle and ligament contraction. So she spent an hour hyperextending his back legs which clearly caused him some pain. 
He's got to have several weeks of this to loosen everything up and then back to the specialist vet to see whether there is a further underlying condition. If there is, then it's an operation. If it's just that he's grown too quickly and unevenly he won't. 
The good news is that the charity are pleased with his temperament and intelligence, so are happy to fund the treatment in the hope that it will all be worthwhile for them. 
Here he is looking very pleased with himself. He amused the physio by reaching a, shall we say, @DarkFruitsRam7 level of "excitement" when she arrived.... ?
