We used to display wrestling posters in the bar when my dad had a pub in Nottingham, so there were always free tickets to be had. I went a few times when the likes of Jackie Pallo or Mick McManus were on - good fun provided you didn't take it seriously (root for the evil one, but don't be too disappointed when the good guy rises from the dead like Lazarus and wins). I don't know whether it was a set-up (on reflection, I'm sure it was), but I remember Les Kellett being tossed out of the ring, and a little old lady absolutely belting him with her walking stick or umbrella.

I have absolutely no idea of accounting, but from what I've read on the various threads this can be the only reason for doing it. Although it was always looking for trouble it would have worked (Scooby Doo moment) if it hadn't been for those pesky kids. I do believe that we would have curbed our spending accordingly if our methodology had been questioned earlier. Our problem was when Gibson got involved, and the EFL decided retrospectively that our method was wrong. As @Ghost of Clough said, we failed two years after starting to apply our method. I doubt very much that allowing us to continue would have prevented Administration, but we wouldn't have extra points deductions hanging over our heads.

It seems like we failed FFP in the 3 years to 17/18 even with a £41m stadium revaluation/sale.

Admin have been on talk sport said there had been six credible offers and last night a seventh from America with over $1 billion dollars in it's funding also lots of clowns on e mail making offers.
Also said they will ask for proof of £5 million in a Uk bank account non refundable before allowing anyone to proceed to negotiate and they hope to get a deal over the line in the next 90 days.
Also four local business had offered to loan funds to keep the club ticking over.

I'm not blaming the EFL - I'm stating that by not giving us the additional 'monet to save clubs from Covid' funding (while giving it to all of the other Championship clubs), we've been made into an exceptional case - and that provides a solid argument against the 12-point deduction for going into admin.
A lot of people on here have been saying we can't claim exceptional reasons to avoid the 12 point deduction as other clubs have been able to survive - but by denying us the funding (and there's a very good case to say they were right to do that due to the P&S issues we were having) and then also giving us a points deduction when that decision tipped us over the edge into administration, they've effectively penalised us twice (and that's ignoring the embargo shenanigans preventing us from extending contracts and therefore losing players on the cheap).
Whoever ultimately is to blame (and neither Mel or the EFL are blameless) the funding decision was a contrbutory factor in pushing us over the edge - that should at least lessen the points punishment if not negate it completely....

I thought Cutch made a good point in the latest @Steve Bloomer's Washing pod about the HMRC issue. The fact that we have a massive outstanding tax bill isn't just financially problematic; it's also morally indefensible. Plenty of people moan about big corporations not paying their fair share of taxes, but a business the size of ours should fall into that category too.
I suppose we've got to negotiate with HMRC to save the club now, but the fact we're even being forced into that position is terrible.
I'm just glad there's so much positivity amongst the fanbase at the minute.
