To be honest, I only look at other fans forums if we have just beaten them (so, not often ?).

I think, if you’re not careful, you can interpret too much from reading such forums. The comments you see may not represent the majority view or even the true views of those posting. For example, I’m sure we’d all have a laugh and say it serves them right if Forest were in our predicament but, deep down, many of us (me included) would be sorry to see a club in such a mess.

30000+ fans don’t just disappear. Granted we wouldn’t get 20K + gates but we’d have a core 10-15k at least and there will be odd games where we’d sell 25-30k. A lot would depend on the terms on which we get the ground.
If we did have to ground share with Notts/Chesterfield- we’d sell out those grounds regularly - huge advantage over the other teams.
It’s in no ones interest for Derby to be in division 10 and win every single game (could happen), so I think there would be a negotiation with the National League about what division to start in, I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up in the conference, but more likely conference north (div 6), or worst case (div 7).

If we became a Phoenix club we’d be back in the championship in 10 years. If we end up in League 2, 5 years, League 1, anything between 1 and 3 years IMO. If Luton can get back we can - we’ve only spent 5 season in 3rd division in our history.

The irony, of course, is that season in question: Derby had 9th highest wage bill in the Championship (£40m) and Middlesbrough had the 4th highest wage bill in the Championship with £49m. Yet, it claims that we made it impossible for other teams to compete fairly? Aston Villa had a wage bill of £83m that same season, double ours. It's an outrageous claim.

Deferral is different to being late. Presumably there are required steps to take, not least approval from the players themselves and the EFL before actually implementing a deferral.

I listened to the interview. I think Ed did an ok job, easy for us to stand back and say he didn’t ask that or he didn’t ask this. Not all the questions we wanted answering were answered but they were never going to be.
Mel made some extremely valid points. The football financial model is broken. It isn’t a level playing field. Only 2 non-parachute payment clubs have secured promotion without breaking P&S. Parachute payment clubs are insulated to Covid, clubs recently promoted have a cost base that can cope and will make equal/more revenue from additional TV money that balances out loss of gate revenues, the non parachute funded clubs with bigger attendances who have been showing ambition and pushing the boundaries of P&S just to try and compete with the parachute funded clubs were always going to be hit harder by Covid. Without Covid we wouldn’t be going into administration. All those points cannot be argued. We were starting to cut our cloth accordingly with Cocu but then Covid pulled the rug out from under us. It can’t be denied it’s a fact.
His comments about the inconsistencies and punitive nature of the EFL were also interesting. The defence of our amortisation policy was fierce and in my opinion completely valid. Its a disgrace we’re in the dock over this - anyone who says otherwise is swallowing the guff that the EFL are clubs pushing them on this are leaking out to the national press to build this ridiculous idea we are cheats.  The EFL are not fit for purpose and an independent regulator is required.
Mel even admitted he gambled and failed but that’s the only way to compete season after season against parachute funded clubs, that is no different to other owners of clubs who avoided P&S issues through being fortunate enough to be promoted.
But the interview didn’t cover/push the fact he gambled but wouldn’t stand behind his debts and plunged us into administration up to the eyeballs in debt (unless we’re taking from today he no longer has the means), glossed over his mismanagement in particular wages, joiners gate etc.

He also seems to think administration will be the miracle cure that gets us a new buyer to take us forward, with £60m debt majority of which won’t be wiped through the process and will need servicing at some point. Until we get a buyer, who will be funding the £1-£1.5m Mel has been funding up to now, how will we pay players? Will it just be more points deductions for not paying players or could it be worse, at what point will the club be forced to liquidate and how quickly could that arise - could it be before Jan as we can’t sell any players until then, so will we need to sell moor farm to get us through (given Mel still has PP for the moment although he has said he will offer that up to the new buyer as part of this deal). None of these questions have been answered and frankly I’m not bothered about all the other points he made, it’s already done, cannot change it, I want to know how this club can survive until January now he has taken this decision to put us in administration and threaten the club’s existence.
Im pleased he did the interview, I think he tried his best I think he cares about the club but he will always be remembered as the owner who nearly killed the club, let’s hope he’s not remembered and the owner who killed it.

I started out in kiddies corner back in the early seventies. I saw us beat Real Madrid at the BBG and I was there for many other great games. Many will have been rams fans for much longer and seen greater days. I have a programme from the '46 cup final given to me by grandad. Derby is in my DNA. Let's hope that we survive this and let's use our energy in a positive way.
MM, love him or hate him, has gone. We, as true fans move on and do what we can - support the players and staff in a positive way. Energy focused on the old guard is wasted. Pride park is our home and pride is what we have.
I will still go to the matches. My 13 year old son will come with me - he is still firmly a Ram even though he lives in an area (Grantham) dominated by forest fans. He dreams of those great days that I witnessed. If he can stay loyal so can we. COYR.

The biggest thing for me was the reveal that on the 2nd sitting of the panel judging our accounts we had no accountant on it like the first time who was totally happy with how Derby did it .
Do you not think  on its own that this stinks and certainly shows the EFL are not giving Derby a fair crack of the whip , i happen to think that what Mel said about how Derby have judged their player values as perfectly o.k .This in my opinion should be abled to be judged at a much higher level than it has been as i think deffo Mel has upset people in the EFL before this and they have been out to get him no matter what the cost ( Stevie gibson comes to mind ) .
Im not saying im sticking up for Mel as he should really have batted on a straight wicket and he has tried to bowl a few to many googlies .
But the fact remains on the fact of who sat on the 2nd sitting if its true absolutely stinks and doesnt put the EFL in a very good light at all.
Surely Derby as a club can take this further . .

He’s messed up on a monumental scale. Covid was the nail in the coffin he’d already made on the advice of others that he was too vain or foolish to question.
it’s going to go on for 3 years or more to know where we stand even if we manage to survive.
The EFL are not a worthy representative organisation
The rules and regs as they are currently constructed are full of flaws and loopholes. They are policed unevenly and in a way the encourages self interest rather than equitable solutions
Mel’s windfall when involved in world changing industries like cyber dating  and mobile gaming convinced him he was a skilled entrepreneur rather than a bit of a chancer with an eye to an opportunity.

Adslegend reacted to Yani P in Season 21 - 22 survival bid statistics
Ok so I love a stat so thought it might be useful to start putting forward some stats based guesswork as to what real chance we might have of survival this season. We can then review it as the season progresses.
It might not be everyones cup of tea but I felt like I had to work on something as it has been a very sad couple of days and having listened to Morris this morning with his zero compassion for what he has created it just made me even sadder to be honest.
Caveats before I start (and I know they are big ones!) -
I am assuming that we retain Wayne, his team and the squad we currently have (this of course is complete guesswork until the Administration starts I am currently assuming a 16 point deduction scenario which is the one that seems reasonably solid so far (sadly I believe it cant get better than this, only potentially worse) So today we are on 10 points, better than many expected (I read threads where people thought we would be bottom by the end of September and that was without a penalty). I see this as positive in so many ways, we are top half, we are playing well and the squad are up for the fight and are working their socks off for the Club and their manager.
I believe the old adage that when you start off in the relegation zone it sets the tone for the year. We certainly saw that last season. So yes we will be bottom once the deduction kicks in, but I would hope the mindset will be totally different . Last season we were relegation fight material for pretty much the entire season, that is difficult to shake off. This season we are not and the players know we are not so I envisage a far more positive reaction from us when the deduction hits and we are bottom.
The first graphic just shows the gameweek by gameweek position of each team - I have kept this and all other stats I have since 1968 lol..as you can see, Derby are reasonably consistent never top 6 never bottom 3. I have added our 20-21 season at the bottom for comparison. I do think this is a useful indicator although its early days still.
The next table shows our points totals for every season since our return from the Premier League. We average just over 65 points per season obviously there are some highs and lows in there. If we hit our average before the deduction, we should be safe (51 points net).
The next table shows the minimum points needed to stay up and the highest points that still got you relegated. We were pretty lucky last year with 44 as the average has been just shy of 48 (again since we were relegated). 54 points has been relegated once (very unlucky) but if we did hit our average (net 51) we would only have been relegated in 2 seasons since our return to the Championship and in one of those seasons another team on 51 stayed up on goal difference so potentially only once would we have missed out.
Looking at this season we are currently 12th but its all about points and most importantly the performance of our rivals as we need three teams to be below us obviously. We are currently just 3 points ahead of the relegation zone (in effect net -13). All 3 of last seasons promoted teams are below us but there are teams down there that you might expect to climb out (Forest and Swansea as examples). Compare this to last season, we were already bottom 3 – interestingly as a gauge 12th place was on 10 points the same as this season.
Just to give us all a bit of hope I want to fast forward to the table after 15 games last season. For whatever reason they haven’t put Sheff Weds 6 points deduction in with these week-by-week tables but even with that we were rock bottom on 8 points! And we stayed up even with our abysmal back end of the season.
We have 10 points now, let’s see how we are tracking against our last season performance after 15 games.

I just really hope that we are at least given a chance to fight this season – that’s all we can ask for.

He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.
He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.
He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.
And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.
I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.
He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.
If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

Lets not forget, we are in administration because Mel stopped paying the bills. No other reason. His public explanation is he did that because he can't be rid of the club until he's stopped paying bills because no one will buy it in it's current state.
Whatever the reasons, the blame all goes to Mel in the end.
Now, Mel Morris is still a rich man. The bills did not stop being paid because Mel is insovlvant.
If the entry into adminsitration is the only way to get new ownership in, it really does not say a lot for your stewardship does it.

I also thought that Ed did really well, @Derbados and I thought he got a fair amount back from Mel given the volatlvity of the last couple of days.  Everything is not black and white and the truth often lies in between. I thought his answers were insightful and interesting. I thought Ed did well to put some probing questions. At the same time he was polite and courteous and his non-aggressive questioning led to an interesting and open interview.

The thing is, we're football fans. We tend to like owners who give us teams that win and are good to watch. Even better if they say the right things and plug into the club's identity. Mel did this, so he got lots of support and affection. I don't think that's a thing that anyone should disparage.
The position now means he's lost most of that support.
And it'll happen again with the next owner - they'll be popular when we do well and vilified when we don't.

All the damage was done in the two weeks we signed about £20m of players on long contracts that we then sold for next to nothing. Everything after that has been accounting aimed at avoiding the impact of those decisions. If Blackman had gone on to be a twenty goal a season striker nobody here would have a bad word to say. I'd argue the club could be forgiven for getting one signing wrong but the fact that all five, or six, didn't work or shows either extreme bad luck or some pretty appalling scouting and governance.

Despite a lack of raw emotion shown on air, I genuinely think Friday would have hurt him massively as this wouldn't have been anywhere in his plans.
I understand this will not be any comfort to any of the staff that will lose their jobs, or creditors unpaid who my thoughts are with right now as they face an extremely tough week ahead.
Tomorrow I will be opening a jobs board on the forum, if any of you have a business or hear of vacancies in the local area please post them.
Also if you know anyone that has/will be lose their job through this process, give them a heads up.
