For me, all of that would be just about forgivable if he had the cojones to hold his hands up, take the blame and admit he'd messed up.
Instead, while ordinary people have lost their jobs he's cowered away and blamed the situation on everything but himself.
    Coward.

Yes I think Mel deserves criticism and plenty of it for his poor judgements . But questioning his honesty is over the top in my view.

Same approach for me too, for the record.
    PS:
I hope to God "Little Angry" is your son or summat?  My first thought was that you were threatening to rival young @Burton_Fruit, and his perverse shenanigans!  ?

Trick or Treat (WTF is that all about anyway), Guy Fawkes, Diwali all within a few weeks of each other, crap time of year. My mum was petrified during Trick or Treat..

All in me. Go large for us Cockneys.. But would be just as happy with one of the lesser packages if that suited others best. Just let me know. If it's Pedigree or Captains Club, I might treat Little Angry.

Nothing that can't be replaced, and nothing of any real sentimental value. Watches, some minor items of jewellery, a couple of gold sovereigns, some cash and, believe it or not, my wife's spare reading glasses, an e-cigarette and half a dozen bottles of e-liquid. Total value probably a grand. 4 laptops, the telly, the tivo box etc all still here. Small items only.
There have been a spate of burglaries in this area - I've since heard of 4 in the last two days all within 200 yards of my house so likely to be a gang casing the streets for people being away. I have the local security guy coming round tomorrow to discuss cameras, alarm systems and so forth. Hopefully the glazier who I messaged will ring too. Curtains and lights are a dead giveaway, of course. Should you leave curtains open or closed, lights on or off?
The police were trying to get in touch with me today - about 10 missed calls because I was driving. When they finally got through, I had got home. There was toughened glass grains everywhere, the window in the back door had been boarded up by the police, there was a note left to say that forensics had completed dusting for prints and I could start clearing up.
I had a feeling something was amiss - 10 missed calls from two numbers in the space of 30 minutes. I switched on my phone at the service station and saw the missed calls so rang both numbers - one didn't answer and the second went through to voice-mail, so I left a message saying I would be home shortly. My first thought was that somebody close to me had died or had had a serious accident. In the end, I was immensely relieved that I had 'only' been burgled. Things are easy to replace.

Give Mel some slack he did what he thought was best for the RAMS yes it hasn't worked out  but its easy to be wise after the event.
Everyone makes mistakes in buisness but he made his with the club he supports at heart , if he hadn't been a RAM perhaps his judgement would have been far better.
I'll shake his hand the next time I see him.

    Why not, seems lovely...
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/10/15/melbourne-embraced-zero-covid-now-remains-isolated-world-bounces/
For those that cba to click on the link, some highlights...
    - Melbourne holds the dubious record of being the most locked-down city in the world – 260 days and counting.
    - The twitching curtain brigade, encouraged by government campaigns urging them to inform on their neighbours, watch for rule-breakers and use special hotlines to summon the police.
    - Masks are mandatory outdoors even if walking on a windswept beach or a deserted street. Those caught disobeying may be fined, handcuffed, forcibly masked and arrested if they refuse to comply.
    - Getting into Australia has been near-impossible. Getting out requires a North Korea-style exit permit. Border closures have separated families and caused untold hardship. Babies have died, unable to access urgent medical attention at the nearest hospital across a locked state border.
    - While deaths have remained low, other metrics paint a disastrous picture. Psychologists and GPs report a surge in substance abuse, eating disorders, domestic and child abuse, truancy, depression, anxiety and self-harm.

Every bloody year in October I come on here waiting to be wished happy Birthday. But no, just the same old posters every year, being chummy and overfamiliar, with their mutual back slapping. It’s not even as if they contribute anything significant, well certainly very little in comparison to me. Not even a token mention today that I have reached 60.  Don’t get coming on here now passing on your faux congratulations. It won’t wash. You are all dead to me.

It's the whole process, you could always do with more drivers but you need to use the ones you do have more effectively and not leave them sitting around for hours on end. Some ports have more technology to assist in the processing of containers, London Gateway for example is pretty new. The whole world has a problem with the supply chain and the recovery from Covid. The shipping lines are profiteering and that is pushing costs through the roof.
The paperwork has not changed when you are importing from Asia and India etc. There is always loads of it but the UK does have one of the most efficient customs systems where everything is electronic bar a few documents that still need to be presented. So no, paperwork, is not the issue. It's volumes and speed.
Felixstowe, I believe was suffering from 1000s of Gov containers containing PPE that were left quayside.
The USA is suffering huge delays at places like San Diego and LA as well.
