I'm not sure the rest of his season undermines the comment that he did perform 'heroics' on that day though; without him we'd have been relegated?
Davies put his body on the line and showed great courage but Waggy actually delivered the goods that kept us up. In terms of impact on the game, Waghorn had far, far more influence. Both were heroes on that day, in my eyes.

I wouldn't say 'lying', I think what he's said could well have been misconstrued (which in itself isn't great PR, but I don't think he intended to deceive)
The last quote from him was: ''"Paul has been given a budget, I think a good budget for League One that is good enough to get us out of the league. But it's football and nothing is guaranteed."
The budget may be a lump figure and we might have preferred to sign more experienced players on higher wages than pay transfer fees for younger prospects, we don't know. I agree, I think expectations regarding transfer fees should have been tempered if this is the case, but I really don't think Clowes lied...

Not really, League One players don't have the touch, vision etc required to play that patient game. The biggest problem, and we found this playing patient passing football in the Championship, is the off ball movement really lacks. Makes breaking teams down playing at that speed nearly impossible.
Bit of a nonsense discussion anyway. Only thing that really matters, is Warne has already noted that passing it side to side  is all well and good but it needs to be done quickly otherwise the defence shifts over and you gain nothing from it. I don't think anyone can disagree with that. Any talk of hoofball is completely overblown.

It's entirely possible to go where the money is and go out there to make a career for yourself, without first s******* on the front garden and pissing in the milk bottles of the people who adopted you at a young age, put you through school and allowed you to gain work experience in the family business.

To be pedantic, attendances would be measuring fan engagement and turnout rather than 'team success'. Yes you have bragging rights on the field currently, but when clubs are referred to as 'big' or not, that's usually referring to support- which you could say we've always had the better of the two really.
That won't mean two cents to you while you're in the PL (rightly so), but the data does heavily suggest we're the bigger club, when compared 🤷‍♂️

Honestly, I have no clue what’s gone on here. I was told this morning he was at Moor Farm yesterday and has agreed to sign. Wether Huddersfield have pulled out last minute I don’t know. If JCH is off to Coventry then maybe it frees Matty Godden up and we’d rather spend the wages there?

Get what you're saying, as a business perspective though, a young striker in that age bracket which would be an investment might not have been available, stuck in a chain where another club wants to bring in before they sell, Warne doesn't want to wait any longer or went elsewhere when he thought he had one in the bag.
Anything can happen in the window, for what it's worth I think he will speak of his frustrations once the window has closed, doesn't seem the type to pretend everything went great.
Right now he can't really say all that as the focus needs to be on recruiting.
Maybe he was a little naive to come out and talk about the ages he wants to sign, being at a bigger club probably isn't prepared for this level of scrutiny over every single word.
Although as someone else pointed out, this forum is a tiny fraction of the fan base, will be many that don't follow what's said online and will go into the season with an open mind.

If this happens, Warne needs to come out and clarify his age comments. As soon as McGoldrick left, we thought a #9 would be our main priority this season, combined with the comment about wanting players in the 23-28 age bracket, it was fair to assume we were aiming for our marquee signing to be a #9 in this mould.
If we then start the season then with our youngest striker being 31, that would be disappointing, but only because of what Warne said which has built expectations a bit...

Then surely it's acceptable to say he was slightly naïve to come out with the original age bracket comment if we couldn't back it up when it comes to signings?
This isn't even a comment on Rhodes' ability, he could be a shrewd signing. But it all seems very short-sighted. If we get promoted this year there's zero continuity when it comes to strikers as neither of the 3 will be Championship-standard in a year's time, and a big factor in that is age.
The main external criticism of Warne I saw is that he yo-yos; yes he has 3 promotions from League 1 under his belt, but he also has 3 relegations from the Championship- this type of transfer business goes directly in-line with the fears of not building for the future; getting promoted pragmatically but then not having any foundations to built on because you just bought what it took to get you over the line.
This is the first window in 3 years we can spend fees. Given all the talk of a main striker being a priority, I expected us to spend on someone with potential to grow further, who subsequently has resale value. Instead, so far it's been cheap deals for aging strikers not seen as necessary by their Championship clubs... I just expected more from a business perspective, not even playing ability.

The subtext (that was clarified in the subsequent post) wasn't subtle enough, so everyone understood exactly what was being implied. Mental health is often a permanent battle, it's not something a couple of sessions of therapy ''fix''. In many cases, it's a constant case of managing, rather than ever being able to cure.
Discussion and understanding of mental health is improving but sadly you do come across regressive views such as this quite a lot:
Do some reading and garner a deeper understanding of these issues please, because as it stands, you're not qualified to be commenting on them. None us know the lad personally so to be making assumptions like this is not only crass, but also probably incorrect.

Having facilities at your disposal doesn't magically fix mental health issues. ''Because he could'' implies an element of control over his outcome... I reckon being molested as a child is going to mess you up to the point football doesn't matter. If he ''could'', i'm sure he would have been a worldbeater week in, week out; the fact he COULDN'T highlights how damaging MH can be.

He was one of the only players I saw successfully man-mark Taarabt in his Championship season, so this isn't quite true. Think it was a 0-0 draw and he played as a makeshift RB if memory serves, and he was absolutely brilliant. Taarabt kicked a water bottle when he went off as he was so frustrated. Think that's my all-time favourite Savage moment for us.
I only found this clip years later of him the week before this match, which adds to its legendary quality in my mind 😂
