Carl Sagan got a reaction from maxjam in Starship and a Human city on Mars
It's time for Test Flight 4. Road closures have been approved for June 1st. The main goal will be to improve on Flight 3. Hopefully that means:
SuperHeavy booster "soft lands" in the ocean in the Gulf of Mexico.
Starship performs a deorbit burn while in orbit.
Starship makes it through the bulk of the atmosphere, ideally all the way to sea level.
Here's a real video (not a render) of Starship being "stacked" by the "chopsticks" above SuperHeavy to test all the systems in the Wet Dress Rehearsal earlier in the week.
If they meet these objectives, Flight 5 will likely see the chopsticks try to catch SuperHeavy on the launch tower as it returns from space (which would be wild!). In case that destroys the launch tower, they're quite far advanced in building a backup elsewhere on the Starbase site.

Hope a lot of the senior staff go to jail for what they've done. Crocodile tears again at the hearing today. Of course it will never happen but I would love to see it, and for it to be a sign that we will not put up with this as a country any longer. Heads of the water boards should come next.

Hi Paul - good of you to post, but if I'm honest I think a lot of people would prefer you to cast the net a bit wider than Rotherham for your transfer incomings over the summer.

Much more productive? I’m not sure I would’ve used that term. Sibley is more impactful than Bird, albeit is more inconsistent but that’s probably due in large part to his lack of consistent game time in his correct position which we can all agree has been detrimental overall to his development.
I think purely from a commercial stand point that the opportunity to add a 22 year old who has a very decent attacking record in the Championship already on a free transfers, if we have offered him reduced terms, will ensure that he is at least a championship player next season.
When playing CM or AM, transfermrkt has his record 112 games and 46 goal contributions at all levels. Obviously that takes into account academy games too, but still begs the question with that kind of record wasn’t he afforded more time at first team level to prove he can/can’t do it.
For me, I just want to see him succeed at this point. I feel his development has been impacted significantly by the people at the club since Cocu left because watching him during his academy days it was very apparent just how special of a player he was and he showed that when he burst on the scene. I do think given time and opportunities that he can showcase his ability but feel that what he could’ve been is one of the biggest ‘what ifs’ that I’ll carry with me as a Derby fan.

Following on from BigTrav’s message - Daniel Iversen was shown around the training ground 2 weeks ago. The first team coaching staff & recruitment staff have been abroad in both Netherlands and Denmark, upon their return they have continued to show other players around.

It's interesting to see the professionalism and know-how we're giving up. I get what you say about Korey. Smith was a model pro in terms of knowing and trying to do his job, whether it was at right back or in the middle. I think he'd be an excellent acquisition for someone in League One, or at the foot of the Championship.
Hourihane was the guy who would get in the ref's face and fight our corner and win freekicks the way other teams would do against us. And he was so brave fronting up to the fans that day, in a really toxic environment, possibly saving Warne his job. A leader, even when he struggled to make the impact we needed on the pitch.
And I've frequently said Wildsmith's ability to take the sting out of the game served us very well. Part of the modern goalkeeper's toolkit. Whoever comes in needs to have this as well perhaps a little more subtly.
But expertise and game management is something we will need the replacement's we're bringing in to possess.

It's like signing someone on the back of a couple of half-decent World Cup games - something that should never be done. All the EFL saw Murphy have a decent game at the weekend. We need to be way cleverer about where we're looking for our players.

I may have mentioned this before but we were filmed for ‘A Place in the Sun’ last June and have now been told of our airing date.

It’ll be on Channel 4 at 3pm on Thursday June 6th and on catch up too of course.

I realise this will mean me giving up my anonymity on here but though it might be of interest to any travel buffs out there!

In years gone by we have had too many bag holders. Players who play for the world's best domestic sides, but all they are is support players for better teammates.
But it finally feels like in Kane, Foden, Bellingham and Rice we have players who are actually their own team's better players.
Having said that, that is only four positions. I feel we are weak at left-back, central defence and the midfield balance. Bellingham has had an amazing season playing as a false 9. That's half of Kane's role. Rice hasn't been playing as a holding midfielder, more as a number 6. And Foden is better centrally, so where does he and Bellingham fit in the same team?
I hope we don't have another Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard situation of brilliant midfield players but they can't play together.

Players can go straight into the first team at Championship level, they don't have to gradually play up the leagues. I seem to remember the likes of Bird, Knight and Sibley all coping quite well with the step up.
