  1. Considering we aren't exactly firing, we are still within a few wins of the play offs. Everyone bar the top 2/3 sides are as inconsistent as we have been. If we can stay inside the top 10 until January, get a few more bodies in and Bielik back anything is possible in the second half of the season.

Think of the points we've dropped this season, quite frighteningly wasteful really.

  2. It's a great response to a poor run of results and performances.

We really do have to stick with this, ain't going to be pretty at times given the large difference in tactics.

The lack of control over the game is still concerning but hopefully that will come when the tactics are more embedded.

Plus all those saying Bird and Hourihane can't play together... They can ONLY play together it seems!

You mean he's going to start abusing local reporters in press conferences?

Stupid, hysterical post. He's done more than Rosenoir managed to do so far in his brief career at Derby yet there's these threads being churned out already.

Late to the party with this thread but I don't think a couple of away wins under PW compares with what Rosenior did for this club this season and last... Whatever you think about LR, his football philosophy etc. The fact that we can even have the conversation about Derby competing for play offs this season is thanks to his hard work on recruitment and Clowse who saved us. So far, PW has come in, impressed a few people in interviews and got a couple of results on the road. I'm sure he would be the first to say that he has a long way to go.

However, completely agree that this kind of discussion is premature. PW has an absolute gift of an opportunity with DCFC. Unless we are absolutely bombing, we need to give him until the end of next season and support to embed the playing style and culture he believes will take us forward.

To @Bris Vegas- I don't think he is comparable to Pearson in the slightest. Different people, different managers, different situations.

I do think the players look like they're struggling to adjust to two very different footballing philosophies but the culture at the club is completely different now and one would hope that everyone pulls in the right direction to get it right. I'm not loving it personally but it's very, very early days.

  4. We look like a side which was thrown together at short notice, had a limited pre-season to embed a style of play and then completely changed that style of play 10 games in...

So disjointed going forward which is disappointing given the talent at our disposal.

On the flip side, Ipswich will go up this season with Plymouth. Best two sides in the league by some distance.

We can still make the playoffs but we really need to get it together and string a few results together.

(You'd think teams got 4 points for winning away and only 3 at home such is the extra importance placed on away matches by some fans. Got to please the 'hardcore', 'loyal' fans though, not those schmucks who only go to home matches.)

I agree this is ridiculously ironic and was used as a huge stick to beat LR.

I suspect it's more to do with the fact that we've been decent at home and stinky away for so long, people take the home form as a given. If (when?) it gets worse, you can count on the same fans to be complaining bitterly about that instead!

I thought after the Port Vale game how much Warne-ball was suited to away games and how it may be problematic at home. Still very early days so hopefully he can work out the formula to pick up points away and ensure we don't gift the impetus to the opposition at Pride Park.

I don't mind if we continue the away renaissance in Friday mind...

Up the Rams, long live the Messiah etc.

  6. Not disappointed to be out of the cup to be honest. We have a small squad of youngsters and old pros most susceptible to injury and fatigue. We can do without the extra games.

However let's not pretend that was a particularly weak side last night, we had more than enough in there to compete and it was poor. Can't reconcile the lack of composure on the ball to the side who started the season dominating possession.

Hopefully we can pick it up against Ipswich, big game to really see where we are.

  7. Bird, Knight and Sibley are a nice blend for me. The two things that nag for me are a lack of experience when we come up against a more cynical side and a lack of defensive bite, which leaves our back 3 a little exposed.

Hopefully their talent, energy and enthusiasm can make up for those deficiencies.

Haven't been impressed by Hourihane's overall play, decent impact sub perhaps? Smith has looked good in the few moments we have seen him but I'm left with the conundrum of who to leave out of Smith plays and decided to put my faith in the home grown lads.

It's a nice problem to have if we can make it work to our advantage.

But just a silly and avoidable red card away from not very catchy at all!  ?

Good point it is massively reliant on keeping everyone on the pitch.

Also potentially implies a huge amount of open space in the middle of the park as our players line up around the outside to fit the formation in. More like a dysfunctional hokey cokey...

    Kill joy.

It's more of a parallelogram made up of 2 separate triangles really

In one triangle McGoldrick isn't an active participant, in the other Barkhuizen isn't.

The passing triangle creates the space and then gets the ball to the spare man.

The way you're looking at it you could just say that that the whole team is a hendecagon

    Paul Warne's hendecagon army

Has a catchy ring to it
