I'm hopeful that with  two players with proper heavyweight wealth ( MA and Morgan ) showing interest, the relatively small amounts ( to them ) will result in some sort of deal  to avoid the minus 15 point penalty.
Both will want to outdo each other for the prize and the ego thing I hope will eventually lead to them conceding a little ( for what is for them ) chump change.
I say hope, for that's what it is - not expectation. Surely if it comes to a one on one, egos will lead to them conceding a little more cash to outdo the other.
Personally, I think Morgan is the more likely to concede something. MA's a more hardened poker player, but would he want to miss out on Pride Park being a huge Sports Direct mug shrine to his empire? He's the master of the financial end-game, but like any auction, if two people want it badly I'm hoping it'll become an Ebay-esque battle, with one waking up after a night on the p*** thinking " Did I really pay that much for THAT? "
Sorry, the alarm's just gone off. Was I dreaming?

Hello everyone.  Nice to meet you all.  Found this forum a week or so ago, and in the circumstances have been reading frequently.
I do believe there is, perhaps understandably, a mismatch between business reality and fans wanting to "save our club".  Some of the business people involved also care deeply about football, and some this club; but business comes first and their backers are not going to want to "donate" monies beyond the relative value of the proposition.
I work in financial services and investment.  I have previously worked at a global accountancy firm, where I for a while sat next to a company administrator - no, not Q - so have some familiarity with how these processes work in general terms.
My analysis: is DCFC has VERY large debts.  DCFC has virtually no tangible assets.  Those we do have are players (if very few!).  On liquidation, unlike with other firms in most normal industries, those assets can leave for free on liquidation - so valueless to a liquidator.  We have considerable brand value (30k matchday attendees), all those here etc etc.  That brand value dies on liquidation, if EFL does not allow re-entry at L2.  Unlike with most businesses, the name cannot simply be sold as a way to pay creditors.
There is an old maxim: if I owe the bank £10,000, I have a problem; If I owe the bank a £1billion, the bank has a problem. That applies here.  On liquidation, the creditors get nothing.  Think about it, the players have no value and we don't own the ground.  We are left with paying £100m or whatever it is from old replica kits from the Superstore.
Ashley knows this, too.  As do all the buyers.  The reality is someone needs to be screwed here.  Liquidation screws everyone, but the admins need to extract as much as they can.  And so along strides a wonderful American who will generously pay a nice amount to said creditors for a L1 club.  No points deduction.  Keep Rooney.  40 new players.  He might as well throw Bale in to the mix as well, and consider putting a bit in for Messi.  It feels - not saying it is - a little too good to be true.  He is offering to be the one financially screwed for the greater good of everyone else.  And on cue the money doesn't turn up... makes you wonder.
What, in my opinion, this club has needed since January is to have the real crunch liquidation point - the club will liquidate on x date without x monies.  At the moment, creditors are thinking "I can get a 'good' deal from some naive mug" and are not considering the real haircut they are going to need to take to get some monies back, maybe 5 or 10p in the pound.  Once a potential vulture owner decides to accept the points deduction, why offer the creditors any less than a completely derisory offer (you get them to their lowest point before they refuse on principle)?  The points deduction will be the same.
This is Ashley's strategy (and probably everyone else bar CK).  He is planning to screw the creditors.  But this only works if you are prepared to hold out to the very very very last minute; and you can act fast to prevent the reapers axe actually coming down.
The idea he will take CK's terms like-for-like is for the birds.

Given none of us actually know the facts, I think it's more a question of opinions rather than "suiting some narratives". A rather passive aggressive phrase sometimes used to dismiss someone else's view that may be different to yours.

I know it's all what's, whys and wherefors, but what if they hadn't rolled over bared their bellies to the EFL and left the issue " in abeyance " in the hands of lawyers?
We'd still be a Championship side. Yes we obviously wouldn't have avoided the -12 penalty for administration, but we'd be a much more attractive option.
Any half-decent lawyer could have exposed the EFL's inconsistencies in not having a written policy of amortization, allowing us to interpret that inconsistency in otherwise perfectly legal accountancy practices, then the fact that they  retrospectively changed their rules, announcing that " the straight line method " was retrospectively the only way. I think we'd have had an excellent chance of winning that argument with a robust " lawyered-up " team.
These legal ramblings would have rumbled on for many months, well into next season. Meanwhile we'd be a much better business opportunity for any potential buyer. Even to the point of paying the extra £8m or so to avoid the --15 points by being more generous with our creditors.
A Championship team, with our support-base, coming out of administration free of debt is surely worth £8m more a Division 1 team, starting on minus 15 points, with various suitors fighting over our carcass for ever decreasing amounts.
With wise management and spending we could potentially have had a good shot of getting to the Premier League.
The current way things are shaping up we're a Division 1 club starting on -15 points.
Am I being too idealistic? It could have been so different. It's not as though accepting the extra 9 points deduction got us anywhere...

So, Q say they've talked contingancy with other parties. Other parties ssay they keep trying but no contact.
Has that communication situatio changed since 5PM today, or yesterday when they said they'd had talks with other parties?
Lot of conflicting information being passed around and unfortunatly, it's impossible to deduce what is true, what's kind of true but very biased towards someone's agenda and what basically not true.
I'm going to go with Q not having meaningful discussions until late in the day today.
I'm going to go with Ashley does want to buy the club but only if he gets his low ball price, and he's quite happy to play games to get it.
I'm going to go with CK has been *trying* to get some funds through but how much and how legit is questionable - it's certainly not turned up.
I'm going to go with Appleby's offer remained but his backers may have sidled off when they weren't going to get, so he's trying to find players.
    What I think will happen?
We'll end up with Ashley, but not until some more hopes up, hope dashed (maybe several times), more people leaving the club, more "serious concerns" about both Quantuma and our place in the league, more misery, strss, worry and then Mike Ashley saved himself 5p on the price and we're all hating him from the off because he had no need to do it that way.

For any inter-bank transfer there is a 16 digit TRN code. The TRN code is a unique reference number used to identify individual payment or securities settlement instructions and the recipient can quite easily request it from the issuing bank. It beggars belief that Quantuma would not have requested the code in order to verify that funds have actually been transferred.
If they have and have and their bank has confirmed that the TRN is valid, likewise the value of the transfer, then there's the reason Quantuma have provided deadline extensions.  Not because I doubt CK's word. I don't know him well enough to do so. But simply because to fail to do so once the transfer is delayed indicates a total and utter dereliction of their duties as highly paid administrators.
To avoid landing the forum owner in deep doodoo, I'll refrain from saying what I really think, but I would hope that when the dust settles on this, which I believe it will quite soon, the IPC needs to have a bloody good look at Quantuma and whether or not their handling of this administration has in any way met the standards expected of a professional insolvency practitioner. Think I'd best leave it there other than to say that I really hope folk are not getting too upset tonight and that anyone who is feeling particularly troubled should probably take the weekend off trawling the forum and other socials as it seems unlikely that there will be further meaningful movement before Monday, if then.

Q wants to get paid as long as possible, the EFL wants eternal punishment for us, Mel wants payment for ruining the club, Kirchner is wrapped up in red tape, while Ashley circles over the field of play like a vulture.  Does that sum it up, or have i missed some other horrid contingency?

    Sadly you’re bang on.
I’d be delighted with trading water next season though. If (and it’s still a big if) we still have a club in League One next season, there’s now a strong possibility we’ll start on -15.  Pre season starts in a couple of weeks and we won’t have any players and very likely no manager.  It’s hard to see anything other than a relegation battle. Sorry to sound negative but it feels so bleak. I’m desperately hoping for some good news.

I think it is quite clear now that Quantuma are pretty useless at dealing with sports clubs. I’m not sure an administrator picked by the EFL is the answer but they would certainly have someone to answer to and we would have them to vent our anger at.

We had a damn good case against the 12 points (proven by subsequent EFL rules changes that allowed clubs to lose more money because of COVID) - Q simply abandoned the appeal to speed up the process. They have made a series of poor decisions throughout this whole fiasco - doubt they’ll get much future work in football…..

Well, I think Q will be a bit on edge at the moment.  I’d love them to put a statement out to explain away all the accusations and put the record straight.
But alas, communication isn’t their greatest asset unless they can charge for it.

In the 1799 pages of this thread's existence, this has been possibly the stressiest day of all.
Kicked of by Radio Derby's " inside man "  exposing " CK as a potential Walter Mitty tyre-kicker.
Cue confusion. CK " doorstopped " by a Sky reporter and looking " shady "
Mike Ashley potentially resurfacing as our potential saviour.
Then, at the 11th hour CK potentially not being so bad after all.
This is the reality of the internet world where everybody is able to self-publish.  Me included.
    It's like watching a self-publishing ping-pong match.
Nobody knows anything. People post anything masquerading as news  - and the masses comment on it as fact.
Press releases are sooo yesterday. Let's just treat rumour as fact.
No wonder we're all so stressed. Rumour ISN'T news.
People claiming " to know "
Can I be the first to declare I know zip all?
We're all feeding each other on rumour and supposition.
In the absence of news there is...
    ... the internet.
