  1. Nixon seems confident that Reading will be getting -9 and both their punishment and ours could be announced at the same time.

Completely disregarding the fact that it has taken 2 years to decide our punishment (of which we have been punished via embargo the whole time) compared with 2 minutes for Reading, surely the EFL have to release the exact overspend for each team to confirm they are both at the same level. If there is no transparency provided then we need to be breaking doors down, freedom of information requests, whatever can be done to reveal the detail behind the decision.

  2. Sorry, this has probably already been answered but I’m trying to get a ticket to go with my 4 year old. I have a Fan ID but obviously she doesn’t have an e-mail. Can I create a linked Fan ID without an e-mail? Or if not, does anybody know if the ticket office Twitter/phone lines are manned today? Or is the office open to just buy a ticket?

One thing puzzles me .Do we want owners that just steady the ship ? . If i remember right unders gse didnt we use to moan alot about lack of funding and buying players , everything just became stale ? . Or do you want owners with pots of money who will prob gamble and again put us in the same pickle . The problem is as time goes by fickle fans forget and posts start appearing of nigel clough type football its boring , i would sooner us have a real go and go bust bar watch this drivel .

It seems where caught on a double edged sword , hoping the fans now understand what we are in for .

I was very happy under GSE because the way the club was run was viable in the long term. If I remember correctly, they really had a big push to increase revenue in to the club. I think the big video screen was installed under their tenure increase advertising revenue, iPro stadium was embarrassing but I’m sure it brought in a fair amount of cash.

Im sure no investor coming in is going to magically pay off our debt, especially if they are looking to buy back the stadium and training ground. It’s going to be a long road back now but I would welcome someone who is going to come in, focus on making us commercially viable again, gradually pay off the debts and keep us competitive (even if that means another 10 years in the championship).

if we have a good solid base and then all of a sudden 1-2 really good youth prospects come through or a really good lower league transfer (Jamie Vardy-esque), they could either push us on or be sold to finance a promotion push. Without parachute payments it is the only way we will ever get back to the prem. Having a sugar daddy come in and buy our way there just isn’t realistic.

  4. Do you know what, it’s a really difficult decision for me. We are looking at this with those hindsight goggles on but there was such a ridiculous amount of bad luck and I agreed with a lot of the decisions at the time.

    - Nigel Pearson appointment. He built the team that Leicester won the league with but he tried to change our style of play too soon and the players couldn’t handle it + there was some racism issue with his son.

    - Clement. One of the highest regarded coaches in Europe, came to us from Madrid. Percentages say that should have worked.

    - Mac. Did well for us every time he was here, sabotaged us when Newcastle showed interest.

    - Lampard. Massively raised the profile of the club and some of the players we could attract through him - look at where they are now. On the flip side all pf his permanent signings were terrible and but for a weird team selection at Wembley and the obvious should I stay/go period, could have been the one to get us to the promised land.

I am also not buying this theory that the buck stops with him on transfers. You don’t expect the owner to say yes/no to spending money based on the quality of a player. They don’t know enough about the technical side of the game. If a manager tells you this player is the missing link to get us to the prem but by the way mr Blackman will cost X million, that is the fault of the coach not the owner.

Joinersgate. Albentosa getting home sick. The unexplainable disappearance of ability from players like Anya, Butterfield, Marriott, etc who (forget the fees) were all good players before coming to Derby.

I don’t want to be the voice of reason because I’m as angry as everyone else and of course there is the flip side of the argument with some extremely poor commercial decisions, but I do find myself feeling for Mel. I honestly believe every decision he has made has been in the best interest of the club, it just hasn’t worked out for him. And unfortunately now he has to fall on his sword. But it doesn’t make me hate the man…

p.s I don’t expect people to read this in full, but emotions are running high at the moment and it made me feel better getting it off my chest.

Not sure if this is in the right place but I wanted to make Derby fans aware of the recommended guidelines - including wearing a mask. The TVs in the stadium advise wearing a mask but the vast majority of people do not. I can see us not being allowed in soon and mask wearing may help prevent that, but more importantly may prevent us losing more family/friends to the virus.

That leaves a first team squad of this:

That means we need GK, RB, CB, AM, LW and CF to complete the 24 man squad. With Knight and Bielik out for a few months, 2 short term CM loans would be ideal. That takes us up the magic 8.

I think Watson and Ebosele have shown enough to be involved in the squad this year. I would be disappointed if they were loaned out. Cashin could also take the 4th CB place.

With CKR out long term and Knight not quite ready for a return, I’d be looking at 1x winger & 1x Centre Forward.
Possibly also another DM to take the load off Bird/Shinnie until Bielik is back.

It’s clear the team have a good spirit and fighting mentality, the worst thing we could do right now is bring 8x in and upset the apple cart.

That would mean that DCFC & HTFC would likely be immediately resident in the bottom three, which wouldn't be desirable - but would give us more time to 'negotiate' with the EFL and obtain blessed permission to sign some players!

Think it would be the best outcome at this point. Extra time to negotiate and EFL displays it’s double standards for all to see.

Yep, that's why I said that issues 'haven't yet been resolved'....

If the EFL want to devalue their product and force Derby to field an inadequate team (as they were required to do in the FA Cup), then they can do. Hopefully there is a will on both sides to resolve matters, at least temporarily!

It will be interesting if they call the game off because Huddersfield have a Coronavirus outbreak. When the same courtesy was not afforded to us against Chorley and they have done absolutely nothing to cooperate with us over transfers.

As far as I was aware,we were blocked from doing that by the efl due to hmrc debt?

Chris Coles was saying that we were in talks with HMRC to throw a bit of money their way which could loosen the restrictions a bit to allow us to sign *some* players (don’t know how many), maybe that’s what has happened?

  10. For as long as I have been a Derby fan we have raised our game against the better teams and struggle against anyone who wants to reduce the quality down to a scrap. We just never find a way to win dirty, and the only time we did scrape a load of 1-0 wins in a season, we got promoted.

Unfortunately I think Salford will be more representative of the teams we will play in the league this year, rather than Man Utd or Betis.
