Yes yes, nothing game, nothing competition, means nothing, nothing to read into it. Doesn't matter. Move on.
That is actually how I feel on the surface, but it is another shockingly poor performance where we've looked extremely basic tactically, no obvious plan to counter the opposition's threats, just the "let them play their game, we'll play ours and let's see what happens!" approach again.
It makes you wonder if that's all we've got, but a few good wins in a league where often that's all you need and we won't really be thinking about it too much.

Was our team that weak to be called reserves, really? Plenty of experience  in there to have done better than that

Embarrassing performance. That is just genuinely shocking, both tactically and individually. I get we needed to win away games, which we have been doing to Warne's credit, but that's 2/2 losses at home and we didn't deserve to win in both. What's the point in winning away if you can't win at home?

Slightly off subject but what about 'Ghosts' on BBC? We love this programme about the ghosts haunting the Button House. By turns it is funny and sad. After we watched the first series we bought the box set of |Horrible Histories which featured the same cast. Absolutely brilliant!!

Our brains are always trying to make patterns out of random data. We are experts at it. Add to that the myths and stories of ghosts that we all grew up with and that explains all our ghostly encounters.

If ghosts were real, then the proliferation of CCTV and mobile phones over the past 20 years would mean we have oodles of great evidence.
We don't , and so that's pretty conclusive in my view that ghosts are a psychological phenomena not a paranormal one.

I think if they score the first pen the second penalty and potential sending off doesn’t happen.  It was frustrating because we had Accrington completely under control until the first pen.
I thought we were good value for the win but I agree, I didn’t think we were that good and play the same way against Ipswich and we’ll get beat. The same people on Twitter criticising Charlton and Fleetwood are the same people eulogising about beating Accrington 3-0 yet we probably played better against Charlton and Fleetwood. Shows a lot of people are just blinded by the score line.

I’ll enjoy it nonetheless because we didn’t get what we deserved in the earlier away games under Rosenior where we played some good stuff regardless of what some say.

I do think people are getting a little carried away.
By the laws of probability we should have been 2-1 down and reduced to ten men.
Knight Bird Sibley look good going forward but leave us pretty exposed defensively.
On the plus side I can put down on my both sides scores acca every week.

Second goal was a nice finish, ball played to him on the break, running in from the right, dinks it over the onrushing keeper's right arm.
His first goal he knew nothing about it tbh! A shot from 8 yards deflected off a defender's knee, hit his knee and went in. He didn't actually do anything himself to put the ball in,  if anything he was trying to move out the way!
They all count though, a bit like one of his goals in a previous loan which should have been an OG - a  cross he played, hit away from the goal, was deflected in by a defender.

I'm going for a 'wacky' unbalanced non-formation where I pretend that players are defined only by their strengths and will immediately understand their new role and how to play it, and half-fit players get massive workloads on their first appearance back. What could go wrong?

Hourihane gets a sort of free-role to link up play with Barkhuizen, Knight & McGoldrick, but has little-to-no defensive responsibility and is far enough away from Bird not to get in his way.
We all love a triangle, and here we have 2, potentially 3! (Barkz/Knight/Hourihane, Knight/Hourihane/McGoldrick,  Barkz/Hourihane/McGoldrick)
All of this wonderful, quick, one-touch football drags Accrington over to that side of the pitch leading to acres of space for Mendez-Laing to either stay wide if we want to switch play, or come centrally to support McGoldrick. The role that gets most out of him.
Knight's & Barkhuizen's engines mean they can form a nice partnership to support the attack and defence together. Knight can stay quite central though knowing that Barkhuizen won't abandon his defensive duties, meaning he isn't restricted to covering only one side of the pitch.
On the other side, Smith plays more of a defensive RWB role to help cover for Mendez-Laing staying further forward, but should be able to create a decent link-up with Bird, Chester & Knight to defend when needed, and Bird, Knight, Mendez-Laing when attacking.
Defensive midfield? What defensive midfield. We don't really play with a defensive midfielder anymore.
Again, except for everything, what could go wrong?  ?

It's more of a parallelogram made up of 2 separate triangles really
In one triangle McGoldrick isn't an active participant, in the other Barkhuizen isn't.
The passing triangle creates the space and then gets the ball to the spare man.
The way you're looking at it you could just say that that the whole team is a hendecagon

Good point it is massively reliant on keeping everyone on the pitch.
Also potentially implies a huge amount of open space in the middle of the park as our players line up around the outside to fit the formation in. More like a dysfunctional hokey cokey...
    Kill joy.

When vets refer to your pet by their name plus your surname.
I mean, I like my cat and all that, but he isn't my child, he isn't actually a member of the family and it just looks and sounds stupid to refer to him as such.
    He doesn't have a surname, he's a cat.

There's one key difference - Wigan actively wanted Byrne & Marshall off the wage books to cut costs going forward. We took unwanted goods off their hands.
We had no desire to be rid of Ebosele, Ebioewei & Plange and would have tied them down to new deals given the opportunity.
It's really not the same thing at all.

Not sure I agree. We didn't lack good goalscoring opportunities, we just didn't take our chances. Anyway, it's an issue that has been done to death!
I think we will ultimately benefit from moving the ball more quickly and increasing our tempo but I don't think 'long balls' are the way to do that.
When we went forwards on Saturday with the ball on the deck and down the flanks, we looked dangerous but we needlessly gifted possession to them too often by by passing our midfield. This caused us to come under pressure and look vulnerable. Didn't need to be the case and PW said so himself!
