Serious/not being critical question: so why didn’t you give the task to a more junior member of staff?

I’m old enough to remember computers first coming into the workplace. The chat then was the same as now - we’ll all be redundant/on the beach. What has happened is that jobs have changed and the workplace has changed and skills required have changed in many places but the overall number of jobs have not. Might not the same happen with AI?

You're right - probably could have done but the flexibility and redrafting is just much faster.

It's also on tap, I don't need to manage their resourcing to fit in these tasks and have them working on stuff that produces more value and frankly they prefer doing. At the end of the day people will learn how to use the technology to their advantage and to make their job easier and you're right, the nature and requirements of jobs will gradually change.

There are some tasks I wish I could automate more easily or flexibly instead of wasting good staff time.

I guess the risk in that in a few decades time is people will find it extremely difficult to write without directing a natural language model.

  2. I think stuff like chat gpt etc is pretty powerful. I've been using MS autopilot to help me this week write parts of reports and presentations. We aren't permitted to use chatgpt as it harvests your data.

It's not perfect but it's a good start and edit it to add details, reword etc.

I can see how it impacts jobs though, this is a task that I may have given a junior member of staff..

Palace stay up every year but they offer nothing. I’d be bored stiff if I was a supporter of theirs.

Forest seem to be aspiring to be them too.

I honestly don’t see the clamor to be a 17th - 13th PL club. You lose 50% of the time, you have a big negative GD, you get battered by the top clubs, you uncomfortably cling on to every victory, your best players will just get poached every year, you largely play crap football and half of your games are moved away from the Saturday 3pm kick off time.

Most clubs are really just bit-part players in the top 6 narrative in the premier league.

I don't think I've paid any notice to Bournemouth this season until today. Same with Brentford.

They "CAN", but it's not a given.
It's not a case of cramming as many folk shoulder to shoulder in each row à la ye olde terrace!
There's a lot of criteria to meet (or surpass) to enable any standing ratio over and above the current 1 (standing):1 (seat).

Seat pitch and width plays a part of course. As does the step of the concrete floor, if you are looking to double up on standing between each row of seats/safety barriers.  (This could be two behind one, or one behind two, as they have in "The Yellow Wall" at B. Dortmund.)

Also the number of toilets and associated facilities.

And of course, dimensions, numbers and square footage of concourses, and specifically stairways/vomitoria/exit doors etc.
It's not all about the physical space available.

I believe in some instances... might be Dortmund again, but don't quote me... your match ticket not only gets you into the stadium, but also through the direct access from the concourse to your specific block, so overcrowding is not even possible.  (A bit like a 400 space car park showing 87 spaces remaining type thing, I guess!)  Stops folk sneaking from their assigned position in K block into B block, as that's where the chanting is loudest!  👀

I think with safe standing you're still assigned a 'seat' so to speak. I do wonder how it's regulated in the stadia that have it in england. Do people actually take the seat/row they're allocated or do they chance it in the lively areas? That's the largest risk for me...

There appears to be some confusion (Or is it just me?) with terms such as "Safe standing", "Rail seats", "Rail standing" etc.

In August this year, The Dail Fail referred to "Safe Standing" in their article headline, but then used the term "Rail seats" in the article itself.
Within that article, when referring to "Rail Seats" they name Liverpool as one of the trialling clubs.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12416803/Safe-standing-return-Premier-League-flights-opening-weekend-not-keen-new-stadium-changes.html

Liverpool themselves refer specifically to "a railed seat and not a safe standing area".  They continue...  "Anfield will remain an all-seater stadium and the trialled areas with the new seats and safety rails are not ‘safe standing’ areas. We want fans to sit safely.  Rail seating creates a barrier to protect supporters in those areas flagged as areas of concern by the SGSA."
They then appear to ignore all that... and the respective laws(?)... by adding "Anfield is still an all-seater stadium and the rail above the seat is to protect fans and make areas where there is persistent standing safer."  (One assumes the term "persistent standing" refers to "Law/Rule breaking standing"?

https://faq.liverpoolfc.com/portal/en/kb/articles/tkt-railed-seating-trial-at-anfield#:~:text=Q%3A What is railed seating, there is persistent standing safer.

That suggest to me that a blind eye is being turned?
I hasten to add, I have in the past aimed a similar accusation at DCFC, but it appears they are now heading towards a licenced "SAFE STANDING AREA".  That's fantastic news imo, as it effectively gives us all "A choice" (Limited numbers permitting, of course)...
They get a standing ovation from me, on this move.  👏

"Once the independent barriers are in place, the club will be able to apply for and be granted a Safe Standing Licence and club officials have been in close dialogue with the Sports Ground Safety Authority for some time to ensure the necessary steps have been taken meet the required criteria."

    https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2023/12/work-starts-at-pride-park-stadium-to-introduce-safe-standing

Interestingly, the new Everton stadium is apparently being future-proofed to allow a ratio of 1:1.5 or even 1:2 (Seats:Standing) as and when future revised laws come in (In the UK/England).
I believe Dortmund have a 1:2 ratio in place already, at least in some sections.  It appears this is one standing in front of the other within the same seat width, NOT a narrower space per person (shoulder to shoulder).  (There's obviously a need for seat pitches to be of a certain depth to allow this, as well as the concrete step being within the guidelines).
The 1:1.5 ratio refers to a triangle of standing fans.  Be that 2 behind one, or one behind two, but all on two steps (per seat), and within the existing seat width.
I'm gonna take a wild guess (Rightly or wrongly) and assume this wouldn't be possible at PPS, as it currently stands (or sits! LOL!)
I assume the ratio will remain as 1:1, but I need to check out the step formation and take a tape measure with me next game (For the seat pitch), so for now, I stand to be corrected on that score!  😉

Interesting times... and well done to DCFC, and DC himself I assume, for making this giant leap.
I hope the young 'uns have half as much fun as I did, when I was able and allowed to stand for the whole game, without any concern for a high-viz tap on the shoulder!

*You'll never experience the buzz of the sway though!  They'll never take those memories away!

Ossie Enders, Ossie Enders, la la la la la la...

    🐏

Anfield is licensed for safe standing so not sure why they're saying that.

Going to be expensive to replace all those knackered seats .  All looks a bit weird.  take out the seats if that's the way it's going.

I assume they have to have the seats. Also I think they'd want to prevent people believing it's a return to actual terraces. You still in theory have to stand where you buy your ticket

  7. The network north stuff brought out by sunak is a con - it says they'll bring a tram to Manchester airport... there has been one to the airport for nearly 10years.

HS2 is sold on the journey times because it was seemed that the public couldn't possibly understand the wider benefits to the network. I think that's it's downfall - people needed to be sold its benefits to their local area.

The whole cancellation makes me angry.

Did I dream it, or did last year's World Cup have automatically drawn "offside" lines which worked more or less perfectly?

    The FA are a pisstake.

Yea the premier league voted not to implement it this season.
