    Great stuff from Derby today.

    I agree with this.
Makes no sense to sack PW now with the league position and number of games left, but whatever the outcome of the season I wouldn't want him here for the next one - if we don't go up he would deserve the sack and if we do he'd be of zero use in the Championship.

Funny isn't it. Everyone was moaning when Vickers got the top spot.

Only 6 teams have scored fewer goals and him playing in the 10 scoring only twice, creating only three goals, probably is the main cause of that.
Still, he does work hard and fans love a trier, but when you want a player to step up and win a game - he isn’t that guy.

I have to agree. The wins came despite the poor football we've been playing. You can get away with playing badly and winning, but once the wins dry up, the pressure is back on. It's the results that kept the moaners quiet, not the performances.

The simple fact is Warne thinks he can approach the Derby job with vibes and percentage based kick and rush football down the flanks that offers little control. There's not really any nuance to it and any manager with half a brain can figure it out and counter it.
We have brute forced a number of wins by having better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. If we get promoted we won't have better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. What do we do then?

I’m not losing sight of the great run we’re still on despite the disappointing few games but hand on heart how many times have we come away from the games thinking we played well?

I know people say it’s a results business and that’s true but poor performances will eventually regress back to poor results and vice versa which is why (as well as wanting to enjoy the football) people crave good performances because ultimately they’ll lead to solid results.

I haven't been impressed with Bird and Hourihane, I would even argue they are the 2 we most need to replace and wouldn't miss them (controversial i know)

Which is exactly why I believe he won't be our manager this time next season. Either we go up and get hammered every week and he gets binned, or we fail to go up and get gets binned.

This is Paul Warne's ceiling, top few of L1. I've been optimistic almost every season for years but this bloke drags me down. It's miserable football that belongs in the lower leagues.

I'll always appreciate the way Rooney conducted himself in that administration season (in public at least), and I don't really begrudge him leaving when he did because it was always going to be a tough sell to him to stay on.
    However,
This is very funny. Mostly because it's Birmingham City who in my view are one of the most deluded, bitter, tinpot, nonsense clubs in the footballing pyramid. Permanently trapped in their nearest rivals shadow and utterly deluded as to their standing in the game. A crumbling stadium half full with idiot fans.
So, thank you agent Rooney for the top tier destroy and exit job. Excellent work.

A central midfielder is a central midfielder. All the talk about bird is for the last 2 years is he’s not effective because of the system, he’s playing too deep, he’s playing too further forward, who he’s playing with?
maybe he’s just not that good

I don't really think it's clear what his best role is. His record of goals and assists is quite poor and he's not a holding type player.
I like him and he does show glimpses of something but I've always been bemused as to how he is quite so highly rated, especially as you'd expect him to be ripping this league up if he's as good as some make out. In my opinion he's another player whose rating is given a boost by virtue of him being an Academy graduate.
I'm not averse to the idea of selling or keeping him.

For me, Warne needs a convincing winning run to get the season back on track. I don’t know how many of these results he can survive. Shrewsbury, Stevenage, Crewe - worryingly they are not a one off now.
I just don’t see how Clowes will not be asking himself questions now. Tonight was the perfect opportunity to vindicate the owner’s stance and Warne and the players completely fluffed it.
The worry for me is these players are really not anything special. I don’t see much untapped potential. I am not convinced a new manager will transform these players into a consistent winning machine.
