So if it hadn’t been for COVID we wouldn’t have been placed into administration? 
Then why are half of the Championship clubs most of which haven’t benefited from parachute payments, still trading. This includes small clubs such as Brentford, Boro and Notts Forest. 
Brentford even got promoted!

I'm afraid things just don't add up still for me.
This situation is all down to Covid (MM)
We have a sustainable model (club statement)
Covid cost us £20m income (MM)
I have been writing a cheque of between £1.5m and £2m per month (MM).
So how since 30 June 2018 have we managed to burn through the £80m received for the ground, plus 2 years worth of season ticket money, not paid HMRC in excess of £20m and also ran up debts with Gabay and MSD.
Must be something wrong with my calculator!

My personal view for what it's worth is he sounded deflated towards the end of the interview. A beaten man.
Despite a lack of raw emotion shown on air, I genuinely think Friday would have hurt him massively as this wouldn't have been anywhere in his plans.
I understand this will not be any comfort to any of the staff that will lose their jobs, or creditors unpaid who my thoughts are with right now as they face an extremely tough week ahead.
Tomorrow I will be opening a jobs board on the forum, if any of you have a business or hear of vacancies in the local area please post them.

Blaming COVID when we’ve spent millions on bang average players and virtually made nothing back..

His major duck ups were his transfer policy, non playing staff recruitment and the ludicrous wages we paid. Covid made it worse, but it didnt cause the problem. We had to sell the stadium before covid came along. Covid is completely irrelevant for me when discussing Mels poor stewardship of the club. Its just an excuse and not a very good one.

All the damage was done in the two weeks we signed about £20m of players on long contracts that we then sold for next to nothing. Everything after that has been accounting aimed at avoiding the impact of those decisions. If Blackman had gone on to be a twenty goal a season striker nobody here would have a bad word to say. I'd argue the club could be forgiven for getting one signing wrong but the fact that all five, or six, didn't work or shows either extreme bad luck or some pretty appalling scouting and governance.

Because I believe with older records no payment needed to broadcast them and also no decent music made after 1978

I find myself constantly dissapointed with lack of 90's and 00's metal on radio Derby before and after sportscene.

When he first said his job was to bring the dignity and pride back to the club a while ago, I raised an eyebrow, particularly given what happened later that evening.
Wayne Rooney has many talents, but I thought that was something of a stretch.
Yet in a time of crisis, it turns out he is actually a real leader, and has the emotional depth and intelligence to become a figurehead.
I wanted him gone last season, even started a thread saying so, but recent events have made me re-evaluate his contribution.
He's the leader of the resistance, and today was a test he pulled off with aplomb.
More tests lie ahead, somehow this might not be the darkest moment, but I now see we've got a steady hand on the tiller.
 
 

Wow. What a day. It was special. A day I will never forget. 17,000 Derby fans but it may as well have been 30,000 such was the noise and every fan 100% behind the team and the coaching staff. 
Then the game. What a performance. Some superb counter attacking and glimpses of real quality. Ravel at times today (especially in the first half) was equal to Stefano Eranio   with those passes in the box, magical. Stunning goal from Max Bird who was also outstanding in the first half (what a player he is). Baldock should’ve scored, Ravel should’ve scored, we should’ve been 3-0 up and out of sight but then the Ince goal made it nervy. That said never had any doubts we would close it out. To a man the players were superb today and showed they care. Likewise Rooney and Rosenior. 
 
I was in tears at full time, so proud of all of them and for the fans unbelievable support of them. It felt like we’re in this together. duck the rest of the football world, duck Mel Morris, no bitching about 3 wins in 20 odd and Rooney isn’t the right man. Everyone backing the team backing the coaches backing the club, backing each other - as one. It was truly special.
Its to be a part of days like today is why I’m a football fan and why I love this club so dearly. It will be a bumpy road but if we stick together we will come back stronger!!

Hey All,
I heard this news earlier. I don't know much about the history of how you got to this stage but I know that it's due to mismanagement and really poor conduct by owners. I also heard Rooney earlier say he heard about the Administration when watching TV. 
I was gutted to hear this latest update. I like Derby - although that's not really the point at the minute...
I think the point that I wanted to make is that every single football fan really needs to take notice here. It could be there club next. It doesn't matter if they're your biggest rivals, you hate the club, etc.. it's more than that. I'm sick of seeing rich owners come in, playing at being a chairman, making poor decisions or taking risks and then putting the whole club in jeopardy. I'm also sick of the rest of the footballing world just ignore it and almost watch on with mild interest to see what happens. We're all football fans first and foremost and clubs like yours and others have been around well over a hundred years and form a huge part of the community. 
It's the fans that really suffer here. Not to mention the staff, those in back office roles, canteen staff, cleaners, car park attendants, maintainance people, etc... 
Anyway, I hope that there is some better news for you soon although I realise things look bleak. I know you're going to try to negotiate on the points deduction, either way hopefully there's some clarity and closure on that so you at least know where you stand and can focus on football.

Well lads you did us all pround of you are Derby county and we are fighters to bitter end. And with everything going off you at least sent a message to players to fans we are one and togather we shall come out of this stronger than ever before.
Now to new owners you seen what players are trying to do and roony first thing first get those damn keys of mel and then give roony some funds in january window and pay as much debt as you can.

I kinda said all along Mel was spending unnecessarily and at inflated prices but that's not to say I was complaining. 
However, got to hold my hands up and say Rooney has acted with a lot of class today. Said all the right things....for him to find out via Sky is an absolute disgrace.

This hurts more because this isn't some dodgy, secretive ownership from a foreign country putting the club into administration, it's a local man. A man who i thought had the best interests in the club at heart. We all make mistakes, this is a huge mess. We're all human. What angers me more is a local Derby man has taken zero responsibility for this mess. Zero. Blaming COVID, blaming the EFL which is a valid argument. But to not have the integrity to accept ultimate responsibility for the financial mess of the club is a disgrace. He gambled and failed. Have the guts to stand up and apologise to the supporters tomorrow or next week. Supporters who have backed this man through thick and thin. We trusted you Mel. We trusted you. And you've not had the decency to communicate clearly to the fan base, now we're left in an unknown situation where worse case scenario there will be no more Derby County.
Shame on you.

I guess where I’m at this morning is sad but waiting for more news. 
We have to see the impact of administration and whether someone comes in for us. I feel sorry for those who will be affected most, I.e. the staff, the players and the most vulnerable of our supporters. But also the businesses that will be negatively impacted by our incompetence. 
The saddest thing for me is the image of Derby County football club will be forever tarnished by this whole fiasco.
 I hope the players will continue to play with the passion they have shown, starting today.

I have played against people in the Uttoxeter and District League Division Two who were better than Mick Coop.

I understand that tonight many questions will be asked, both of the club and myself. 
Tonight as the news was broke, I was sat in the pub, still am, it's hit me hard as I'm sure it has you all, I was not expecting it, there was no pre warning, no hint of what was to come.
I also understand that over the years my opinion has been questioned, it's something I have had to deal with, sometimes poorly, but with the best and honest of intentions.
Tonight I am hurting, just as much as you all, this is the club I love, the club I adore, the club I have tattooed on my hand for all to see with pride. 
I love this club, please just think when posting over the next few days, weeks in anger, myself, the moderators, we do not deserve to be on the end of your anger or frustration.
Today is a dark day for the club, but as fans, we need to to stick together. We are Derby County, every one of us and we will move forward as one.
