That's 2 games running we haven't reacted to a change at HT by opposition,  resulting in 2 goals each in next 20 minutes.
The management need to see the weaknesses being exploited and attempting to fix from the bench, yet again too late last night, we needed energy in midfield to try to slow down their attacks, Thompson should have been on for White to break up play, although I was concerned at the line up and subs before the game started, away from home against 2nd place and we chose to weaken the midfield by taking Smith out, and to not even have the option to put him back in mid game with Rooney not even on the bench (should have started) was a mistake before a ball was kicked. With Sibs and Dobbin on bench Springett should have missed out to get him in the squad, we seem to deliberately weaken the team for these big away games, that's 2 on trot away from home.
Starting to concern me the lack of response from the bench mid game, especially when we know Warne wants high intensity play, you need to be proactive with the subs.

I genuinely think, and have said in here, that we weren't that great for the last 4 or 5 of that run, but winning mentality carries you. I'd suggest having Bird available meant he didn't have to find the balance in the team, so easy to manage.
Also that run was after he'd got our fitness levels to where he wanted and as the end of Jan came and the frailties returned,  is that down to tiredness?  Again the management needs to utilise the squad to prevent burn out.
It was obvious on Saturday that we needed to.make changes after 50-55 minutes, it was obvious again last night, the worry is the balance within the 18 avaliable didn't even give them the opportunity to address the problem mid game.

Think the ref did get it wrong. But don’t think Warne should be deflecting attention from his inability to work out how to find the right balance between experience and youth. Part of his problem is he’s too close to some of the senior players

Would like to have seen him make changes at half time so as to sit on the 1-0 lead, whilst threatening a goal on the break. We’re good enough to control possession against that lot if he puts the right bodies in the right places.

First half against Shrews is the only time in the last ?6 games where we have seen the potential of this squad. That’s down to the manager

It was a dive for me yes but let’s be honest, we were dog ****.
Stop coming on here B4 blaming others and look at ourselves. We’re pathetic against the other big boys in this league.
Also - whilst I agree the ref was conned fair play to the lino for getting the offside call correct on NML. 95% put their flag up there.

This for me, could clearly see they changed at half time and we didn't react, it also became apparent that they targeted our left side as weak, Dobbin went completely missing and left Roberts exposed, it needed changes before they got the penalty, but recently Warne seems to leave his subs too late and react rather than act.
For me, Dobbin off for NML so Barkhauzen could go on the left and provide experienced support for Roberts. As mentioned by others, the small squad doesn't help and we run out of steam, we can use 5 subs, be proactive and use the squad, we have a strong bench but seem reluctant to use it.

First half, they played a really narrow 352, and that left our fullbacks completely free to attack.  They were an easy out-ball for us when playing out from the back, and caused them all sorts of problems (the first goal being an obvious example, with major contributions from both of them).  As well as we played (and we did play very well), it was at least in part because they allowed us to.
Second half, they switched to a 343 and put their 2 wingers right on our fullbacks and completely stifled them.  At no stage did our bench react to that change and ultimately that’s what’s cost us today.  They pressed us into a mistake for the first goal, then our overall tiredness and fragile confidence started rearing it’s head.  We needed to change something very quickly in the second half, as it was obvious what was happening. It didn’t have to be a sub, it could have been a tweak to the team shape or style of play or something. But we did nothing until we made a couple of basically like-for-like subs after 70 odd minutes that didn’t really change anything anyway.
I know some people don’t want to hear it, but to me that match epitomises Paul Warne’s management. He can get a group of players fit and working hard for each other, but sometimes that’s not enough on it’s own.  You can’t win every game just by running around more than the other team.  Sometimes you need to be smarter than they are.  And I worry that the higher you go up the leagues, the more of those games there are.

Not read everything in here but here's my take on today from the stands.
We were too predictable in possession,  looking for the ball down the channel or big diagonal pass, which clearly they were prepared for, the biggest problem was we had no midfield 1st half, so no other options out of defence,  missing Bird.
They were stronger, quicker, more energetic and looked the better team from the start, we were way too passive,  especially in the absent midfield,  hence the defence got overrun at times. The 3rd goal a perfect example, it started from our throw at the half way line, lost the ball too easily and barely an attempt at a challenge.
As for the offside goal, my opinion which I said to those around me at the time, I thought he was in an offside position,  but the ball came to him from an attempt to clear which came back off a Derby player (Knight?) it was shambolic defending caused by their intensity, it was indecisiveness by the lino, presume he spoke to ref on the earpiece and that's why there was so much confusion and the ref correctly spoke to the lino and came to that conclusion that the ball got to Cole via a Derby touch, therefore not offside.
All in all, I don't think we've played well, apart from after Morecombe gave up at 45 mins, for weeks, we look tired, bereft of ideas and lacking all over the pitch, which against 2 good teams away from home has been exposed.
But yesterday was a new level of poor, summarised by the 4th goal imo.
On to Tuesday and go again,  put this to bed and move on, we are lucky to be in this position after the last 18 months, still in the driving seat to reach the PO's. Then let's hope we have a plan to deal with the better teams and the small squad we have aren't too jaded.

It's whilst we were waiting to kick off after the 4th goal,  I went to leave after it went in and took an age to get to the exit, and when I looked back they were still celebrating, seemed like a good minutes worth of time after the goal, enough for the scoreboard to be altered, just surprised their keeper is in shot and he didn't go to join in

The 4th goal was at the opposite end to our fans, so a picture of our fans is their goal and you can't see our goal, all their players were celebrating in front of their South stand at opposite end, our half, which is why you can't see hardly any players

Well, you could always change tactics in anticipation of it. If It’s a game we expected to get roughed up, stick Curtis in the middle of a back 3, have wing backs and bring Collins in for his physical presence too. Regardless of form, Collins is muscle, Curtis battle hardened, those that blow up, that’s when you bring your subs on.
Yes you’re right, doing the same thing, getting the same result. I’d say we do have options though, I hope Warne learns as much as the players, if we have to play cloggers again; particularly in any play offs.
Fwiw I think away at Plymouth, won’t see the same tactics from the opposition.
