I think Bird can play higher up. Bird has the potential to dictate play, he’s a lovely cultured footballer. There was a game under Cocu where he was almost playing like a no.10 and he was fantastic. He covers a lot of ground so I don’t see Birds role as just sitting in front of a back 4. He has the ability to be a complete midfielder (bar the goal tally)

Personally I wouldn’t sign CKR. 2 big injuries in a season for an already ageing player is a lot to overcome. I’d  thank him for his services and find someone else. Agree - we need at least 2 + Stretton. It was very unfortunate last year that Strettom had so many injuries. It was an ideal time to see what he could do.

You’re spot on. The EFL can’t be forgiven for their role in this. I agree with other posters, without the pressure from our fans on local MPs and the government the EFL could’ve created another bury. It’s not the EFL hierarchy per se, it’s the fact it’s the clubs regulating themselves. Descends into mob rule protecting self interest so it becomes about making sure a club stepping out of line doesn’t get an advantage and ensuring it’s penalised and not about helping a club in difficulty survive. We have been more than punished and the EFL business plan will continue that punishment.
That being said, I think the business plan would hurt us more in the Championship. I think in league one we will have enough headroom to build a competitive side.

From the outside, Rooney managed to tame him as there was a level of respect both ways.
He’s played the most games for one club in his career at Derby, without Rooney, would the signing have worked? I’m not so sure and for that reason I’m not exactly devastated he’s left. 
Will be an interesting one to follow though, I hope he kick on now and continue what is left of his career at a club on a longer contract. Be a shame if this was it for him.

I actually agree with your first point here. He comes across very well in interviews but I think managers can be a little too studious. Without having any knowledge of what he is like behind the scenes, managers do need to have that edge. X factor as you call it. Rosenior says a lot of the right things, but is he too nice? Would he hold the respect? I just have a nagging doubt he lacks some of it. I’m up for giving him a go, but would have some reservations. An experienced no.2 would be crucial.
