Plan B was to change our ammortisation policy.
Plan C was to sell the stadium to himself (although Where's the 80million now I have no idea?).
Plan D When these didn't work (which they didn't), throw the club into administration and walk away with the stadium..

But Mel has never been in that scenario throughout his whole tenure at the club. Are you defending the signings made and the ludicrous contracts handed out since he has been here?

Don't get all upset that he's lost or invested circa 200 million - a lot of this was from his terrible, terrible mistakes and having to try to cover these through buying the stadium because he breached ffp. Hes walked away with a stadium that noone will buy if the admins want a quick, cheap sale. It's his now and doesn't sound like he will hand it back. This should be donated to the city or something similar and shouldn't be a bargaining chip in any future deal. His mistakes and his losses, not the clubs. Tragic we've lost the stadium and have racked up so much debt when we were on a strong financial footing before he bought the club.

Spot on and just written similar. I'm outraged by this and this discussion should have been front and centre of the interview

The coyness on the stadium tells it all IMO (and lack of follow through from Ed to determine how it is brought back into DCFC hands), quite obtuse statement regarding his ownership of stadium, only a reference that across the overall sum of his tenure, even despite retention of the stadium, that he will still lose out. So what does that mean? It basically reads to me  that he has gambled, lost, and taken the stadium as a form of collateral to reduce his loss. If he was as benevolent as he claims he is he'd gift the stadium back to the club and truly walk away with nothing, he obviously has no intention of doing that. So his recklessness to get out of this division was effectively mortgaged against our home which Lionel Pickering ultimately gifted the city and club. I don't care about a lot of things but to lose our stadium in this is unforgivable, the stadium should be an asset with the club in this admin package, the fact it isn't is a real, real shame.

A few thoughts from a fitful night's sleep:
Mel wanted to push FFP/P&S to the limit. He also spent significantly on items that were FFP exempt, like the academy and the infrastructure. It seemed that he wanted to use his vast wealth to drive the club into the Premier League.
That was fair enough; it was his money and his train set. Now he's walking away from the club he loves and putting its very existence in jeopardy, because he's having to put £1.5 million per month in? That is a very large u-turn. Why?

Assuming the MSD thing comes to nothing and we go into administration, we get a 12 point penalty. I believe that's fair enough. It stops clubs from using it as a relatively easy way to walk away from debts, as has happened in the past.
What I'm struggling to see the point of is a two year transfer embargo. You can't argue against an embargo whilst in administration; a club without the cash to pay its way can't be allowed to increase its costs. However, the key for the club to survive is that a buyer is found quickly. An ongoing embargo is going to make selling the club as a going concern far more difficult. Surely the embargo should be lifted as soon as the football and hmrc debts are paid and the CVA is in place? It seems to me that this EFL rule is one which could easily drive a founder member to extinction.

Finally, what we need now is a buyer. As fans, we need buyers to see our potential. Everyone knows that Rooney and the players are blameless here and deserve our support. I suspect that today's atmosphere will be excellent.
What I think would help secure the future of Derby County would be big home gates over the next couple of months. The administrators will need cash to pay the bills, otherwise the doors slam shut. But if we can pack the stadium,  it will also send a message that we are a club worth buying. So please, everyone who can, get yourselves to the next few games.

A statement full of lies and untruths. At the final hour Mel Morris could not find it within himself to admit at least some responsibility. He was the custodian of this great club, he had a duty of care to the club and the community.

In his interview earlier, he said if it was going to be anymore than a 9 point deduction, we would struggle. With the pace of events this evening, it was clear something was happening. Surely he must have known at that point, just a few hours before it breaking?
Sadly if the administrators are coming in to cut costs, he'll be one of the first out the door. I can see tomorrow being his last game in charge, sadly.
What a complete and utter shambles.

Notice too that Rob Dorsett concludes his timeline on DCFC with:
    "Sep 21 - deducted 9 points"
This kind of gratuitous faux-journalism is how rumours and supposition can get normalised through repetition, and become seen as fact, rather than ongoing speculation.
If you asked fans of other clubs about the DCFC saga they would already say: 'you got deducted 9 points, didn't you?'
All this damaging spam from hacks helps to underline and legitimate the EFL's hopes or aims IMHO.

    That is well said.
If we are found guilty through a due process that is objective, open and proceeded with in a timely manner, then so be it.
So far the process followed by the EFL appears far from that and thus appears tainted and manipulated by hidden, sinister forces.
The EFL have done little to appear fair and balanced. How do they expect the clubs to have confidence in them?
The fact that their narrative, as poorly constructed and unproven as it is, is being shrilly touted as truth by the media, other clubs and general tittle tattle is, quite frankly, disgraceful.

That's been a case from almost every outlet that has had anything to say about this process from start to finish a couple of years ago. It also, at least in my mind, is one of the reasons that so many fans of other clubs carry the perception that we are guilty beyond all possible doubt.
Not one news agency has taken a step back, done any reasonable analysis and published something close to the actual situation, at least not from what I have seen.

In short, the EFL have no legal case to dock any points and will procrastinate on a decision for as long as possible to give them some sense of a victory.
If their 'review' of the accounts goes on until the new year, I would say we have a legal case ourselves against the EFL for preventing us from operating as a business.
Outrageous behaviour from this spiteful, callous, vindictive organisation.
