Complete contrast to last week. Both teams up for it. Cracking equaliser. Great game so far.

Personally I'd sooner they carried on with Dom Dietrich on commentary purely for the fact that I think he is a significantly better commentator then Ed Dawes.

One big plus about Paul Warne is we can definitely compete with our rivals in this league. Granted, we had that Stevenage away performance (let's forget that horror show) but on the whole we always look like we're in the game, even if we don't win. It was not a good game of football although Steve Evans was very much the instigator for making it a real slogfest.
Warne is going to tick the promotion box. I'll put my neck on the line. Especially with signing Gayle who's a great footballer for this level, if he can play 60 minutes a match I'm happy. I can whine and moan about the football on show, Warne knows how to escape the league. I think in hindsight, all sides of the fan base want this. It has been a laugh playing League One teams, 3 seasons of this level would become a joke. I just pray he takes the standard up another level next season in the Championship.

I thought DC would kept him in temporarily to go through the books, make sure there were no more nasty surprises in our way, then let Pearce go, thanks for your service etc.
I know there's many NDAs in place and we will never get to the bottom behind the truth of our downfall. I'm at peace with it now. Let's see if Pearce can redeem himself with the faith DC has put into him.

Apologies for the red ink, I'm colourblind and didn't realise.
I will rephrase he doesn't want to retain the ball to he doesn't want to retain the ball in key points during the match. The manager has made hard work of earning the points when if we just kept the ball for 10-15 minutes rather than aimlessly going wide every time, it will grind teams now. Not pretty but at least we can exploit the space when the opposition get tired.
We've got one of the oldest squads in the league, where is the game management to take a breather and keep the ball. They look shattered as if we are playing quality sides every week, like we earned a brilliant point. Shrewsbury had nothing brilliant about them and we made them look better. It is a chore to watch this standard every week, nothing to do with Derby being in League One either. Ipswich could play nice fluid football, Plymouth did too. Okay, they had some stinkers along the way but I have heard plenty of praise from their fans on the managers and how much of a joy it is to watch every week. How is it we are 2nd yet it's a 50/50 split on how we perform and the football on offer, even on those unbeaten runs. Something isn't adding up. Warne has demonstrated so far he is just a short term Neil Warnock type manager who I don't believe can take his football up another level. Achieves results here but this is never going to be competitive when we play teams who can actually pass a ball more than 5 yards. And I hope he proves me wrong when we gain promotion out of this pit of a division.
I think we are just making things very difficult for ourselves when we have the quality and experience in the side to see games out.

I’m not using us as a comparison to Leicester. I’m saying if Leicester are in League One, they aren’t suddenly going to play crap football because of the opposition.
    Here is a better example.
Stockport don’t use League Two as an excuse to play crap football. They play some lovely stuff.
Derby have the players to be playing a far better brand of football than what Warne and his coaches are currently serving up.
That said, I still feel Warne will get us promoted this season.

I genuinely believe the only reason we are anywhere this year is because the division is the worst it's been in years. The likes of Ipswich, Plymouth and Wednesday last year were levels above any team in league one this year. I think this crappy division masks just how poor we are. We're rubbish, I don't care if we're sat in second. The eye test is a complete giveaway.

The players can have lapses in concentration, that happens to every team and late goals goes for and against us. The manager tells the players what do, how to set up, where to play the ball, movements going forward. I think the squad is good enough to play with more control, more fluidity, wearing sides out by actually keeping the ball. There was a couple of times where it was one touch passing and we got into their box, really good football. If we just kept the ball better, Shrewsbury would have burnt out in the end. Their quality of pass was awful and we kept gifting them opportunities to knock the ball in the channels once their subs came on.
The manager does not want the team to retain the ball, hence why every side we face regardless of quality keeps having chances. We should be killing teams off, not just with the scoreline but making them run around and tiring them out. We could easily pick teams off but Warne's style of football makes it very difficult to put games to bed. I don't think many folks are moaning for the sake of it, even if I don't agree with some of their points. The team is not playing smartly enough in a "bad patch" where we are picking up points but it is a chore to see to 90 minutes. We should not be breathing a sigh of relief thinking I'm glad we've like some points here like underdog smaller club with a small budget.

It was a disappointing result but I agree with the hundred previous posters who have pointed out that we're tactically naive. We started defensively against a team who had scored 6 away goals. We should have got stuck in from the first second. Too often this season the first 45 minutes is simply wasted, and then we're chasing the game in the second half after an adjustment.
I read the Guardian's report on the Leverkusen-Bayern game, and an observation there stuck out to me: "But what distinguishes this Leverkusen team is how little they rely on moments of individual quality. They defend and attack as a unit..." We rely almost entirely on moments of individual quality! In recent games particularly, it has been flashes from Bird, NML, Hourihane, or Collins to pull a result out of the bag. With a coherent system, we have good enough players, and a deep enough squad, to demolish most teams.
I don't think any individual had a bad game yesterday - in fact, I thought Sibley, Bird, Nyambe, Adams, and Nelson played very well - but they're being asked to set up in seemingly random, incoherent, and ineffective ways, from game to game. Second half was a good performance, and I was impressed by how they kept going and nearly snatched a winner through Nelson & Barks, but it should have been all over by then. Shrewsbury were pretty crap, and we let them off.
Still, 15 games to go, all to play for, and enough rubbish sides in this league that I still think we can struggle our way to an automatic spot!

I wasn't surprised by the result nor the performance.
No control yet again against a really average side who we should be dominating against. Sat on a 1 goal lead for some bizarre reason. Our only saving grace was Adams coming in and finally stopped midfield from getting bulldozed, he's a great player for this side. Exactly what we need.
Every point we have picked up since the turn of the year feels like "that'll do." The standard football is "that'll do." Unimpressive, turgid guff with no confident platform to build on if we gained promotion. Winning or drawing purely based on a team which happens to have some quality when needed, absolutely nothing to do with the manager and his setup. It's deflating and I can't believe I feel like that in a promotion race. We did get unlucky at the end with the header that somehow ended up hitting the bar. But then I'd argue we should have been 1-0 down when Bradley yet again fluffed his clearance and their lad hit it wide.
Thought the crowd gave everything for the team today and did well to put up with more horrible football on offer. It's definitely déjà vu of last season but we don't have McGoldrick to bail Warne out this time.

Sometimes it’s unavoidable going 3 at the back though. For instance when Cashin is out and you need to retain defensive solidity against a team who had scored 21 goals in 30 games prior to today.
