Ghost of Clough got a reaction from angieram in Lee Buchanan
Tackles, interceptions, blocks, aerials won... Buchanan was out best full back in all categories last season. Only Wisdom beat him in clearances (limited game time at RB)
Include the CBs too and Buchanan still tackled the most and put the most blocks in.

He just paid out to let the team stay down south for a week. If money was that tight, they wouldn't have gone.

I'm struggling to believe Mel would be happy with us starting the season without a single senior CB

If you want tinfoil-hat made-up guesses, the EFL have decided that Rooney, Rosenior, Bucko etc also count as players of professional standing, because they could in theory come out of retirement and play again…

Yeah, but he only just turned 17. If it wasn't for Archie leaving in the summer, he'd still be deciding which position to play.

Still find it absolutely incredible that Rooney went with Forsyth over Buchanan last season.

Ghost of Clough reacted to ilkleyram in Ravel Morrison - signed 1 year deal
Did Ravel complain about him to their local council?

Ghost of Clough reacted to rammieib in Tom Carroll - Gone Ipswich
Only if we can swap him for Bird, and even if Carroll is a free agent, it's still a swap deal!

I’m going with @Ghost of Clough, get the impression he has his head screwed on, great knowledge of the youngsters which would be handy given the current situation.
Assistant, the obvious choice would be @angierambut she knows I think she’s great and I couldn’t put her through the torture, so it would have to be @i-Ram, not because I think he knows owt, just figured it would add some banter into the dressing room whilst also dragging him away from the South coast and getting to some games.

The Chelsea fixture appears to have been removed from the official site.
Ryan is the CB - has the tall gangliness of Tyrone Mings ?
I agree on Robinson. Always looked to get on the ball.
Plange plays RW and CF. We'll probably see him more on the wing this season due to having Duncan and Cybulski as CF options, whereas only Wilson and SThompson on the wing.
Team at the end was something like this, although I'm not sure on the actual arrangement of the attackers:
Roberts
Brailsford Christie Ryan Moloney
Matthews Robinson
Eze Ebosele Nicholas-Davies
Dixon

A penalty was the difference between them and our slightly under strength U23 side - JBrown, Williams, Dixon, LThompson, Wilson and Duncan all missing for one reason or another, but all would be strong contenders to start.
By age, Ebosele should only just be a 1st year pro alongside the likes of Solomon, Plange and Cybulski. Which left Cashin as the only player involved who is a 2nd year pro (don't forget he missed the first half of last season due to injury) and highlights just how young this U23 actually is.
Ryan, Moloney, Robinson, Nicholas-Davies, Eze and Dixon all finished the game, playing the last 20 mins, yet are only first year scholars (16 year olds)

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from Carl Sagan in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
Oops. Yeah, we have more depth at CM than anywhere else, so he'd have to miss out
I'd sell Marshall, which allows us to have Davies, Jagielka and Wisdom. We'd be able to sign an emergency keeper if Roos picked up an injury.

Ghost of Clough reacted to Carnero in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
Yeah you missed off Ravel too but we have plenty of midfield options and his history doesn't warrant 1 of 4 spots going to him.
So you'd go with 2 CBs and Cashin as #3 then? Bit risky... I'd feel more comfortable throwing an inexperienced winger in if Lawrence or Joswiak were missing (Ebosele) plus Baldock can cover wide if needs be.
There's still the option, harsh as it sounds, to release J.Brown ? and/or Hutchinson if they're not considered close enough to being a Championship standard starter.

The benefits of hindsight ?
Saw this on Twitter:
If Mel Morris had bought 5 million pounds worth of Bitcoin instead of Jacob Butterfield in 2016 we’d now have a transfer kitty of 220 million pounds for this season…

It's good to see Sebagabo back on the teamsheet - I was begining to get a bit worried. It's also interesting to see him in a more advanced midfield role as he's mostly played as a DM when I've seen him in the past
5 first year scholars (16 year olds) in that U23 side.
