Why did we get so little for the 3 players at tribunal? Awful if that's the case and no wonder we cashed in on Max Bird before his deal expired.

FIFA compensation rules from Festy. Something like £180k plus 1.25% of all future transfer fees.

We came to an an agreement with Werder Bremen, but I expect closer to the upper end of what we would have been entitled to under FIFA rules. Roughly £325k (plus a further £65k in summer 2023).

Then there's an unknown amount for Ebiowei. As he was only with us for 1 full season, it wouldn't be much by domestic standards.

The rest will be a loan fee for Bielik (a wage contribution).

Oh.  Don't get me wrong, I know where you're coming from.

Wasn't we guilty of breaking a rule that didn't actually exist, so they wrote it in... and then kicked our arse retrospectively?  There was also something about the way we reported our deeds (as opposed to the deed itself), which seemed to suggest there was room for "interpretation"?  (Which is never a good thing imo, when it comes to setting rules!)  🤷‍♂️

This rule appears to be there, but so poorly written, it falls in favour of the club (in this instance) and makes fools (yet again) of The EFL?

Looks like a bit of EFL jiggery-pokery incoming, backdate their vindictiveness to suit, and Fester will get theirs some time soon.
I'll be mightily miffed if they escape punishment AGAIN!

Not quite. The rule didn't exist, they still charged us, we were eventually punihsed for it, then they re-wrote the rules to stop others doing it.

  3. I think my estimates for the year weren't too far out on the important details considering I didn't have much to go on - only 5 year old accounts and predicted changes due to relegation.
£500k overstatement on our losses when ignoring the 1 off impairment charge. An overestimate on the turnover by £1.3m (mainly due to commerical/hospitality) and £1.3m underestimate on the wages (half of which down to SP's pay).

Comparison of 22/23 estimate/actual and revised 23/24 estimate:

Presumably the £2.1m is for Bielik and Knight?  Possibly Bird too, although I suspect that might be too far in the future to count for this section.

Post balance sheet events are usually transfers in the summer period following the accounting period. In this case, it's summer 2023.

Almost all of that £1.6m book value will relate to Bielik who was sold for an estimated £500k. Knight as the only other summer sale being the remaining £1.6m received.

The £264k is anyone's guess, but I think it's likely a 25% sell-on was agreed with Werder Bremen for Buchanan.

You almost don't realise what a freakishly good season he's actually having until you look at the stats:

    image.png.1aadfa3189326a8399668eec8e65cc17.png

He's 4 clear of anybody else for assists, and if my maths is right, 4 clear of anybody else for combined goals + assists as well.

    According to Whoscored:
Devante Cole has 17 goals and 3 assists so is only 2 behind Mendez-Laing's 22..
May, Rhodes, Jamie Reid, Bishop and Mason-Clarke next, all on 18

    According to Transfermarkt:
    Mendez-Laing is on 23
    May is on 20
    Mason-Clarke has 19
Paddy Lane and Poku are on 18 (along with the others listed above)

Taking what you wrote at face value would mean that for instance Morecambe last year had way better finishers than Derby because they scored more than their xG.

Taking what I day at face value, Ricky-Jade Jones is a very poor finisher.

Almost half of Morecambe's goals last season came from Stockton and Weir, so I'm guessing the main reason for their high goals vs xG was down to them.

9 of their 21 goals were scored from outside of the box. Weir was regarded as a very shooter from range within Brighton's academy, and he carried that form into last season. Stockton also scored a few long rangers, but I can't comment on if that was the norm for him or just due to a purple patch. However, you'll be familiar with long range strikes being worth low xG probabilities. Good shooters from range will naturally outperform xG. A high proportion of goals from distance, with a small sample pool (one of the lowest scorers in the lewgue) will also swing the balance.

A further 4 goals were from Stockton's head, which highlights them engineering chances specifically for one of their main strengths - again this will likely result in above average goal vs xG.

EFL thought LCFC had broken rules, LCFC said "LOL these rules don't apply" Club Financial Reporting  Panel side with LCFC.

Wonder if the EFL will appeal this like they did with us?

So, EFL said Leicester are forecasted to fail P&S for the period ending 2024.

Leicester said no. The panel they were referred to agreed with Leicester.

From reading the judgement, it appears to me that it came down to a mix up between the rules saying 'T' = season 22/23, and Leicester thinking it's 23/34 (mostly due to the next bit...)

There was a part where Championship clubs submit financial data on 31st March (to the EFL), but Leicester wouldn't have been obligated to do this until 31st of March THIS year, so the rule the EFL are trying to act upon isn't valid yet.

Expect the rules to be updated again soon.

Do they have a dubious goals panel at that level? I’m almost certain Dananga stole that

It does look like it clipped to edge of his toe. I'm not sure how dubious goals are awarded if the player who got the last touch was offside though

Best result tonight in terms of the Barnsley Bolton draw. A shame Peterborough are coming up on the rails. With Portsmouth off in the distance, it's turning into a 4-horse race for second spot:image.thumb.png.e52b0c4fc634221144f32883f407b54f.png

There will be twists and turns, but we can't afford too many. Ten games to go. Seven wins and we're in the mix, eight wins and we're probably over the line. Obviously the Bolton game has massive significance and is "must not lose".

Peterborough returning to form is largely down to the return of Poku. 1 win and 4 points in the 5 games he was out injured. 3 wins and 9 points in the 4 games he's been back. They've only lost 2 league games since Spetember the 2nd with Poku in the side.Let's hope he was rushed back and picks up another injury.

Still best in the league on xG, write these off at your peril.

You need to stop treating xG as gospel. Their main CF is a poor finisher, hence why he's scored less goals than his xG, and Peterborough's overall record being similar.

The fixture doesn't need to be postponed if they're missing. They can't even make the match day squad.

Doesn't matter. We called for a game to get postponed when only Washington and Mendez-Laing were called up at the start of the season- Robinson, Lindsay, Richards were called up too, which allowed us to postpone.

  12. 18 minutes ago, JPRamFan said:

I'm not so sure it will. With NML out of the Guatemalan friendlies, who else is there to go? Washington is injured and I'm not sure if our African players are due to go on international duty, but 3 of them must go for it to be postponed.

Carlos Richards (Gibraltar U21), Cruz Allen (Wales U17 or higher), Darren Robinson and Charlie Lindsay (N.Ireland U21)

    It's not Barker's call.

It's the match day sponsors who choose the MotM, and after the game the player, in this case Ward, comes into the Toyota hospitality suite to be interviewed by McFarland, Davies & Wilson, then have photographs with the sponsors.

I know because I was there.

Barker's pick which is sponsored would be an odd coincidence if Barker picked the same player as someone else every game

The match would’ve been streamable on Rams TV anyway as it’s not a Saturday 3pm match so it being sky hasn’t really changed things for people watching it at home etc.

I did loosely consider the RamsTV thing when posting, but hadn't realised about the Sat 3pm criteria thing.  I should have realised!
So yes, with that, I'll save myself a couple of quid and put my tenner to RamsTV... and still sing the anti-Sky songs.  Win Win!  🍻👍

With it being on Sky, it's only available to 'overseas' viewers. Take a quick trip abroad and you can watch it.

To be fair, at the time we had Forsyth, Buchanan and Williams ahead of him at left back. He wanted a place to get more consistent first team football and it looks like his decisions are working in his favour.

Williams was behind Brown, but Brown probably would habe fell behind in the management's pecking order if he had stayed for an extra season.

Williams didn't play for the U23s until the 2nd half of 20/21, the same season Brown played in every game until he decided to move on. The year before, Brown had scored 11 and assisted 3 in 21 U18 games.

He’s had plenty of starts after good sub appearances. Today was the first time he’s taken his chance.

Back to back starts at CM/AM twice this season. An assist the first time and a goal the 2nd time.

4 games in a row at the end of last season in an unfamiliar 'AM' role which was more of a supporting striker role (in a 3421). Prior to that he had 2 goals the previous time he had back to back starts (2 games), and only 1 other spell of back to back starts in his best position under Warne (3 games).

Back to back starts at AM once under Rosenior, NEVER under Rooney.

4 goals and 2 assists in the 6 games at AM in 19/20 under Cocu.
