The players are being 'drilled' to get the ball forward as quickly as they can. By forward Warne means out wide and then put the ball across. Where's any real passing needed there? We can but I feel they are encouraged not to.

The first half particularly was dreadful on Saturday. Wasnt so much hoof ball from Derby as such but just head tennis and an inability to get hold of the ball and pass and move. No effort to get on the ball and play. The second half was only a bit better because we put them under a bit of pressure.

The above simply cant be a lack of ability as we have decent technical players for this level so its got to be the team struggling with what is asked of them. Sorry but its difficult to watch in my opinion and Im usually positive by nature.

I think there are tens of thousands of pro-Warne fans, actuallly probably more than anti Warne fans.

Why don't more post on here? Probably for the same reasons as me. For every time they do, they are hit with a barrage from that vocal minority asking to justify their opinion. That barrage can become unpleasant and sometimes rude and occasionally mockingly. Nobody needs or deserves that.

My opinion of PW and DCFC hasn't altered. I understand and respect the opinion of those wanting PW out, but I do not believe they are right.

I have gone into the reasons on another thread but I will say again; I believe that Clowes will be 100% behind Warne irrespective of whether we finish in the top 6 or not. A few disgruntled fans won't make any difference.

The loud minority are in all likelihood made up with a majority of younger fans.

Im not young unfortunately but can you tell me if you are enjoying the football being played?

    It's the RACI model

PW is responsible for the performances of the team

DC is accountable for PW doing a decent job

The fans should be consulted and also informed as to what the business plan for the club is, whether we're on track etc

Don't agree with the third point. Fans shouldn't be consulted but the owner has to be aware of his customers view or he's in danger of losing them.

Yes so basically from top to bottom :-

Clowes has made a poor decision in hiring Warne and crystallised that by giving him a 4 year contract

He is afraid of making a tough decision

He actually thinks that we are doing ok contrary to popular opinion

All three are not related to PW but criticisms of DC which seems to be the elephant in the room as I've said previously.

Yes, David Clowes looks to be culpable but it's Warnes job to prove Clowes right. Critism of Clowes only follows after a poor performance from Warne.

I don't know it was a semi rhetorical question.

Just meant to provoke debate regards if it's that obvious PW is doing such an appalling job then why is he even in a job and what is DC seeing that others aren't?

Restricted by finance to sack or courage to act or he thinks we are doing OK. All three are worrying.

Hourihane was asked about tactics at the fans forum and said it was up to the players to adapt to what the manager wants. In saying today, we are trying, he's giving the same message.

I think it is his way of saying we're doing what we're told to do. My take on that (both times) is that it's not what he - and probably several others - wants to do.

I'm maybe just thinking that because it's not what I want them to do, either.

That's a lot of words to not really dispute my point. Lots of ''likely'' and ''estimates''. I don't mind speculation, but it's immediately invalidated when utilised in a critical capacity because the easy defence, as I'll put up here, is you could be entirely wrong, and can't prove you aren't...

How have you calculated your 'conservative estimate'? Salarysport lists us at £7,873,840 per annum. While that's likely also slightly wayward, they do break down individual wages.

The original point, which I just had to check since this has become fairly convoluted, was that Warne had a big enough budget that any 'extenuating factors' are overridden- I don't believe that's true and I believe there's more to it than 'Paul Warne only wanted to sign free agents'.

Individual salaries are put out in the public domain?

  8. How good is our squad? Good enough to get in the top two in this league in my opinion. Im still of a view that our players are not overly sold on the style of football they are being asked to play. I thought Hourihane was quite guarded when at the recent forum when talking about being adaptable to play to the managers requirements.

  9. Going back to the original arguement..............

DCFC are competing in the EFL with the potential to gain access to the Premier League. That is competion pyramid we are in. The best we can achieve is to win the premier league the worst we can do is to be last in league 2 or the fourth tier. This season is only our 4th season ever in the third tier. Our worst ever position in the football pyramid is to be 7th in division 3.

On this basis if we finish below 7th this season it will be the lowest point in the clubs history.

  10. I'm confused. We generally, and particularly first half yesterday, played out from the back. Lovely to see much better football. Now, generally during our league games we don't do that we get long kicks from the keeper and long balls from particularly Cashin and Forsyth which nine times out of ten give the ball to the opposition. Anyone know why? I don't get it.

I didn't think we had much control.  Aside from the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half when Bird ran the show I thought we were poor on the ball.  Too many long punts from the back and overhit passes / crosses.

This is happening far too much and drives me mad. The players must be playing to orders. It's awful.

I didn’t see this match. I’ve seen all our games either live or on RamsTV. Had a commitment to watch Harrogate v Wimbledon on the night but kept up to date on here and friends match day chat on WhatsApp.  I read this thread after the game and a few days after that and also watched the highlights on RamsTV.

Had some time today so watched the whole of the second half, which was the one to watch according to most comments. Unfortunately, after having read the comments, I expected to see more expansive play and passing from us. Bar the moves for the goals, it was mostly Blackpool. We looked solid enough but all our long clearances fell to them and we didn’t keep the ball very long at all. Our best bit of passing was at 1-2 just after Barks had a chance to make it 3 and that passage of play went for a corner.
Great win against a rival and a side unbeaten at home but I really expected a bit more football after having read this thread. Nevertheless, I hope it fosters some confidence going into the next game.

Agree with this 100%. We have improved and now look very hard to beat. If we as a squad could cut out the long hopeful clearances as they nine times out of ten we are just giving the ball away we would be very good. It just takes a bit of calmness and trust in each other by passing rather than hoofing.

Judged on which game buddy? Genuine question. I thought he was ok played central in the Cup, but spent most of the last game on the flanks where he didn't look so effective and that confuses me, as surely PW already knows that by now? I guess the result vindicates the team selection though'

FWIW, I'm still hopeful he can come good, but I'm pretty certain it won't be as a winger / WB and therein lies the pinch. I can understand why he frustrates some though.

Just my opinion of him overall the games I have seen. He has a decent shot on him but his strength on the ball, first touch and passing are not good enough for him to be a shoe in for selection.
